Leyland looked away from his scope to glance at Scarlet, who had now situated herself inside the cave, her own rifle at hand. "You get that group of rocks, and the small hills over there, to the east." He made a small arc with his pointer finger. "I'll move up a little, and cover the ship's wreckage."

[Veck]

Kamau moved towards Leyland.
"Sorry I'm late," he called, cocking his last remaining gun, a Magnum. "I was a bit late on the jump I'm afraid. I spotted some Covenant heavy vehicles in the distance, but couldn't spot anything in our immediate vicinity. Then again, I don't have a Sniper."

[Leyyuce]

Leyland glanced around nervously. "Get down a little bit. You're going to draw attention to our position." He then continued scanning the area with his rifle.

[Sav]

Gordon sat against the wall of the cave.
"Everyone wait, he have to do something about that Corvette. It could kill us at anytime. I suggest we hatch a plan first...if only Jack were here..." Gordon sighed, and knelt down, closed his eyes, and let a couple of tears fall top the ground. Gordon stood up, and put his helmet back on.

[Spiney]

"Well sir..." Johnathan said placing his hand on Gordon's shoulder. "If we want to bring it down, the way ground soldiers like us can defeat it is from the inside. I reckon we need to capture a Covenant Dropship and board the Corvette. Then do something to it's engines or core or whatever to make it blow."

[Sav]

"And how would we do that? We can't just barge in there unless we have some ordnance. Hold up, i have an idea. Kiara, any idea about FTL drives or anything we can use to blow that thing up?"
"Command has a bomb that can destroy almost anything. It is handheld, so we could get a man up there with it. I suggest we go into battle with the Covenant and someone gets up there with a Falcon. It's a one way trip, but it's for the greater good sir." Gordon turned to the rest of the squad.
"Looks like the best chance we got is to manually activate a bomb inside it. Im patching in Hackett now." Gordon held his datapad up, and let out a broadcast to Hackett."
"Sir, any chance you still have that FTL?"
"Yes, what do you have in mind spartan?"
"Kiara has suggested that we grab it and board the Corvette and detonate it manually."
"Yes, there is a command post 5 klicks away from your location. Get there, and we'll have you dropped off underneath the Corvette. Get to that command post." Gordon turned to the rest of his squad.
"You heard the man. We get to that command post, and its all uphill from there. Follow me. Leyland and Scarlett, you guys scan for Covvies." Gordon stood up, and slowly stepped outside the cave. He scanned the area, and noticed 5 squads of Covenant in the distance.

[Leyyuce]

Leyland's eyes grew wide. He quickly pulled up his rifle, and opened fire on the closest group of enemy soldiers, downing several with aimed shots. "I'm moving up!" Leyland scrambled down to the nearest rock formation, several hundred feet from the cave entrance, and began firing once again. "Sir, I suggest moving now, we've got them occupied for a while."

[Veck]

Kamau brought his Magnum up with his arm, and fired seven shots at a group of Skirmishers. Each was hit by a headshot from the deadly sidearm, and each died instantly. The Spartan looked on as more Covenant forces began to approach, and readied his pistol for another round of fire.
"This could get interesting, sir," he cooly remarked as the first bolts of plasma began to fly past him.

[Sav]

Gordon aimed down the sight of his DMR, and let out a few shots at the Covenant squads, killing 5 of the Grunts. The Covenant squads were quickly downed. Gordon could see the command post in the distance. He also noticed some transport Warthogs nearby.
"Everyone into that 'hog. I'll drive." Gordon stepped into the drivers seat, and started the Warthog.

[Veck]

"Shotgun!" Kamau called out as he jumped into the seat next to Gordon.

[Leyyuce]

Leyland moved to a position in a small ditch, and continued dropping Covenant soldiers with his sniper rifle. "I'm gonna stick around to buy you some time. I'll grab a Warthog and catch up once you get your hands on the bomb."

[Sav]

"Good luck, Leyland, i'll see you there." Everyone had gotten into the Warthog, and the command post came into view. Gordon stepped on the pedal, and soon, they were at the command post. Nearby, a Pelican was on the ground. Gordon parked the Warthog, and got out. He walked over to the Pelican, and noticed Hackett holding something.
"Sir, thats the bomb?"
Yes spartan, it will easily rip that Corvette into pieces, only thing though is that the bomb will have to be activated at the core, so you will narrowly have enough time to escape. You need to decide who will go up and activate the bomb, and a means to escape, while the others will have to hold the line. Any volunteers? It will be for the greater good."

[Veck]

Kamau got out of the Warthog seat and smiled. "It's been a long time that I've been active," he said calmly, "30 years. I've seen more violence and suffering than any man should ever see, and it saddens me. It's time I stood up and saved the lives I need to. If it helps us save humanity, I'll gladly give my life."

If I give my character a grand and noble death, I can make an ODST, right?

Im thinking based on your actions inside the cruiser, you can live or die, your choice, and yes, you can have a Spartan or an ODST i would hate to have someone die though, even though it would make it more dramatic.

Gordon turned to Kamau, and heard Kamaus decision.
"Are you sure? Its practically a suicide trip. We don't know if you will survive, but...its been an honor, i will go up there with you to make sure the bomb isn't lost.

[Veck]

I guess deaths were expected in this roleplay. I made Kamau with the idea of a noble warrior willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good, so I think it's best to immortalise him this way. You may want to up the ship claa to Carrier though. A Corvette can be shot down by a couple of MAC rounds.

"Sir, I've spent too long watching my allies die so that I may live," he replied as he reached for his dog tags. "I need to give something back to this planet. That Cruiser is either going to glass us, or be destroyed by us." He handed his tags to Gordon and grinned. "And I am it's destroyer."

[Sav]

"Ok, its been an honor. There are a couple of Jetpacks over there, command has them rigged to go endlessly. Better get strapped up, we'll need you up there." Gordon stared at the ground. He wished it hadn't been like this, but Odin would be destroyed otherwise. Gordon grabbed Kamaus dogtag, and he stored it in his suit.

[Veck]

Kamau sighed as he strapped his jetpack on. "I must admit, I'd hoped to see peace again one day. The end of this war, for good. But it doesn't matter. What I'm doing is far more important than sitting back and waiting for the war to end."
He picked up the bomb, and attached it to the back of a Mongoose. "I'll try and destroy the carrier before it gets close enough to glass us into hell," he joked as he revved up the Mongoose. "Goodbye everyone. It was an honour serving with you, no matter how briefly."

And with that, he sped off across the horizon, leaving behind smoke as the last memory of his presence.

It's weird how I get attached to my characters so quickly. Okay, I was planning on having him sacrifice himself, but not this early. Nevermind that, I'll destroy the carrier at the right moment, when everyone else has had a chance to post. I'll probably either make an ODST next, or an ONI agent.

Gordon stood up, and looked over to the horizon. He looked to his left, and saw multiple Banshees, Ghosts, and Wraiths appoaching.
"Uh, sir...we have incoming contacts!" Gordon pointed to the left, and let a few rounds at the Covenant.
"Kamau, whats your status to that Carrier?" Gordon said through his comm.

If I hadn't been AFK I would've sent my guy up. He always get out alive in these kind of things.

Johnathan saluted Kamau as she drove off. He was brave to do this. And he would aid anyway he could. He started by planning to get rid of the wall of covenant vehicles. He faced Hackett, "Sir are there any heavy vehicles or weaponry ready? I need to do some scrap work for the Covenant."

[Leyyuce]

Leyland had moved up from his position near the cave entrance, and was traveling towards a small advance squad of Covenant soldiers, acting as scouts for the main force. Once he was within a comfortable range, close enough that he could hit the enemy soldiers easily, but far enough away from them that they could not hit him accurately, he dove onto his stomach, and lined up a quick shot with his rifle. Leyland pulled the trigger, and the powerful round passed through an elite's head, the body tumbling from the Ghost where he was situated. Leyland continued shooting at adjacent aliens, planning to commandeer the vehicle as soon as possible, and regroup with his comrades.

[Veck]

The sky had turned grey by the time Kamau had got within range of the Carrier. He picked up the bomb and began to jetpack up to the hangar.
"It's a funny thing, what I'm about to do," he said down his comms as he floated up. "If I just went up into the air and detonated, it would be suicide. I would look like a fool, a madman. But because I'm going to destroy hundreds of lives, and cause an enormous mass to fall to the planet's surface, it's a sacrifice. I'm a hero for it." He chuckled as he entered and saw a Covenant force in the hangar, unaware of his presence. "I'll be right back."

A few minutes later, the comms returned. "Okay, I'm ready," Kamau spluttered through the comms channel. The sound of his voice made it clear that he'd been badly injured. "The bomb's in place, and I'm ready. There's just one more thing. I could see more cruisers and corvettes across the planet on the way up. Remember, they can glass us just as easily as this monster. Keep it clean. Kamau out."
The next thing the team knew, a massive light appeared in the distance, and what remained of the carrier was falling to the surface of Odin. Kamau's channel was filled with static.
