Player.additem for mods?
I asked this on the official oblivion site and I didn't get a response yet. My question is, How do I find the ID of an item that was added by a mod? I want to duplicate an item so i can add it to a mannequin I have in one of my houses.

You can look up the ID of an item in the Oblivion CS. Then in the console type: player.additem [items ID]

Or you can use FormID Finder mod located here http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16704 which will give you the itemID pertaining to that particular load order.

Ah I'll try that out. I have that all ready. I just have trouble getting it to work sometimes. I tried using the console and clicking on something simple like a repair hammer I wanted to duplicate and it didn't work. When I went to look up why I found out that in the console it was giving a different thing then what is listed on here for the ID.shadowchao wrote:Or you can use FormID Finder mod located here http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16704 which will give you the itemID pertaining to that particular load order.

Yeah, once an item has been in your inventory, it's ID changes - it now belongs to your savefile - which has its own ID system. So you can't check an item you've dropped, really. It's no longer a repair hammer (item code C), it's Tatt's repair hammer, special item code!
Another example of this is if you obtain an item from a mod, disable the mod, the item still exists (if you've enchanted it at least) as long as the meshes are in your folder.

Re: Player.additem for mods?
So anything I have in my inventory can't really be duplicated unless i know what the code was before I picked it up? So would I have to duplicate the item before i pick it up? Say I beat a boss and he has a sword or armor I want to wear and also display in my house. Do I need to get that code before picking it up?

Re: Player.additem for mods?
I have no idea if it affects duplicating, did you try the classic duplication glitch?
I think what I was trying to say before is the same as the BaseID and RefID system for NPCs, not sure if the same mechanics apply (save for the fact that the RefID of an NPC is initially already defined).

the duplication glitch only seems to work with items used in the original game and not added by mods

Re: Player.additem for mods?
well this is weird I tried out a few things and figured out how to duplicate with the console. If I dropped an item it changed the ID to something completely different. But if I kept it in my inventory and use formid finder it gave me the right one.
