syndication (RSS/Atom) feed for main UESP news
would it be possible to have some kind of feed (either RSS or Atom 1.0) for the news on the Main Page?

Well, content (and regular updates) is a separate issue, I'm just asking for a more convienient format.darthblaze99 wrote:actually, i think it would be pointless, because as long as ive watched it, besides the shivering isles patch, it has never changed
The main point is that I don't actually know how often it's updated (or when it's updated) because the only way to find out is by constantly checking the site (one of the reason's for the creation of RSS in the first place).
Perhaps there's just nothing worth reporting on the front page? Even so, I'd still rather know when something new does get posted.

Truthfully I am not sure what rss or atom is/does. I think I get the jist of what you are saying though. There is only one column on the main page of the wiki that gets updated periodically. The main news hasn't changed from the SI patch though, and there have been a few tidbits that could have been updated since then. Maybe what is needed is a discussion/suggestion on the wiki of what the forum community is talking about or would like to see. Maybe a liason other than Daveh who is a part of both worlds. From what I've seen the members of the wiki take on what they want and think they can accomplish, and I praise them for the work they do and the info they have provided us with over the years. Not really looking to push anyone to do more, but I think the forums community has had quite a few ideas and suggestions the wiki might benefit from. I'll see what I can do!Lee Carre wrote:would it be possible to have some kind of feed (either RSS or Atom 1.0) for the news on the Main Page?

A RSS/Atom feed could be added to the Main Page, if you're sure it would be useful. My concern, though, is that a feed probably wouldn't really contain any of the information readers want to see.
The Main Page itself hardly contains any content; everything is transcluded from other pages. So, for example, when Daveh added the latest news article, all that was added to the Main Page was:
{{UESPWiki:News/Zenimax_Online_Studios}}
My guess is that is the only information that would show up in a feed. You wouldn't be shown the actual content of the news article.
If your experience with feeds says that in fact you would be shown the entire news article, or if the transclusion is all you really want to find out about, then I could pursue getting the change done. I'd just like to be sure that it's worth the effort first.
