What id love in TES V is bodypart dismemberment! Like fallout 3 but better!
It's pretty lame the way you hit an orc on the head with a warhammer and he dies without a scratch

That and:

Potions taking a few moments to take effect
Requiring regular food/water/rest
No fast travel
No quest marker
You don't heal when you wait
Headshots

The hardcore mode on New Vegas has got me really interested to see what it's like... if it ends up being fun I think TES V could definitely benefit from adding one of there own.

Anything else that might make it more realistic/hxc?

Realistic stuff? I'm thinking like the limping effect in Fallout. Or if you ready an arrow you gradually lose fatigue and eventually firing it. When you fall far enough maybe a ragdoll effect? I'd really like to see a weapon actually break, like visible cracks and eventual shattering.
Well wrap me around your neck and call me a pedant.

I'd love it if Npc's became much smarter for example say if you killed a friend of gor-balmog and next time he saw you he would say something like *(Character name) why did you kill timmy* something like that lol and whatever you did could be on the weekly black horse courier which would work kind of like the Newspaper in Red dead redemption.

If you want realism, you can make mods for it.

I'm talking more of a built in hardcore mode like New Vegas is going to have rather than mods... not something that changes the gameplay but something that forces you to think critically and strategically.

Not that you couldn't make something like that on a mod, but yes, it is unfair to console players.

They should try to find a way for console players to make mods, or at least convert the player mods from the computer to be enabled on the console.

I may be strange this way, but I don't like my game TOO impossible to play. I used to get VERY frustrated w/ Morrowind, w/o the fast travel & how hard it was to get around & find ppl or quest points.

Thing is, the XBOX/PS3's specs don't match the ones of PC's, PC's are generally better in technical sense, as they have more RAM, better Graphics Card's more processing power etc.
Also hi res mods would be hard to use on XBOX/PS3 and also putting them on from computers would be hard, as the Xbox does not allow external files to be placed. Not sure about PS3.

Mods are unavailable on Xbox and PS3 due to software restrictions placed in by Microsoft and Sony to prevent people from messing with their consoles in ways they shouldn't. It is theorectically possible to alter some of the save files for Oblivion, but it's very difficult and nowhere near on the level of PC mods.

You can mod xbox oblivion accounts, by extracting the save games onto a memory stick, putting it on your laptop and editting its attributes using a special downloadable software specifically made for modding oblivion. My friend has the software packages for Oblivion and Borderlands; I know they work because I have 2 Borderlands modded accounts. They are a little tricky however, so be ready for a fair few files to corrupt. They're by no means fool-proof or even moderately easy to use, but they can work pretty well. Obviously you are limited to doing things like making yourself a level 255 in everything, giving yourself every item in the game and so on ad infinum, but you can't change the world outside your character and the fellow beings in it :?

I've gone so far as to extract a 360 save to my computer, then extra a specific file, rename it, and use it as a PC save. But I haven't been able to put it back on the 360.

I hope the next elder scrolls game...

Post by zombiezen9 »

-Gets rid of the leveling system and replace it with something kind of like the system in fallout3.

-Has more than one voice actor for races.

-Brings back throwing weapons and spears

-Has more variety in armor and/or customizable armor

-Balances racial abilities (like how Orc's Berserker is inferior to Redguards Adrenaline rush).

-More variety in factions. Like if you choose to be evil(ish), there will be more variety like you can join a gang and do skooma trade related missions and actually have an evil storyline since being evil in oblivion imo is basically killing everyone in town and being chased by guards which loses its fun.

-And this is probably asking for too much, but it would be nice to be able to go travel to different provinces. I don't know if that would kill the series though.

Any other thoughts or suggestions?

I like all of them except for the first one.

I've grown accustomed to her [the leveling system's] face.

One male and one female, and a few unique voice actors...

Actually I think a couple of races have the same voice, IE: the female orcs & female nords, and the elves. I like the more voices idea, and the more variety in factions idea, like an anti-main quest as I mentioned earlier as well as the factions, etc. Yeah, just going on a killing spree & getting chased by guards DOES get to be a pain.

The more voice actors Bethesda pours their time and money into, the less they have for other, more important parts of the game.

Food for thought.

I've always though that, for abilities like adrenaline rush or berserk, instead of them being cast like spells. They could be passive in the way they activate in certain conditions.

Like for Berserk, as you take damage your characters rage and anger rises. Your actions become more agitated and aggressive, and becoming less controlled. Your vision becomes red and pulsey as your heart rate rises. Every attack you make comes with a roar of animal like bestiality. Eventually when your health is in the extreme level you are left down to your bare animal instincts. Surviving by any means necessary. Attacking furiously.

Well maybe that's a bit over the top but would still be cool imo.

For adrenaline rush, as the battle continues, your senses become more elevated as more adrenaline gets pumped into your body. You become faster and stronger. You do more damage with each swing. At the end you are all pepped up, still ready for more.

A possibility for random quests would be nice. There was some talk about the possibility to act / appear with a false identity, and that would be just perfect for random quests, ones you could do for an otherwise hostile faction. Unfortunately Bethesda seems to be a House dedicated to preset stories, so I guess we'll be left alone with this, hoping some modders to do it. The quests wouldn't need to be that big, in my view, perhaps more like running an errand.

Another thing I hope they put in order is climbing steeper hills and mountains. In Morrowind you couldn't get up a hill at all, in Oblivion you can run hills and mountains without loosing any fatigue --- it shouldn't be too difficult for pros to calculate and program x angle-of-rise and y speed, even z mass of what you're carrying. Marching up a steep mountain would either be slow, or eat your fatigue in a short time. But you should have the possibility to do it, maybe with the help of a pickax.

Edit: I also think they could make the play game / real time relation easy to change - some like short days, some like longer. If they added a real time clock in a corner of the screen, the better; that way you could see how time runs. Not a big problem here, but striving for better, why not?

I think climbing should be a skill. Oh, and what about lock-bashing for the stronger type characters?
