Kids Trivia

Post by Norroen Dyrd »

I have had this new idea, let's see if it works. This is a bit of a different Trivia thread (actually, I intended to make it in the new subforum, but if it ever get created, the mods can always move this thread). Your task is to describe (either with a short passage of fiction or with a drawing) any Oblivion NPC as a child. You are free to use your imagination, but don't forget to give subtle hints about the child's background and future, so that the others can guess who it is. A good way to do that is decribing the child's dreams. Though not all of them might come true, they might still contain hints.

Example:

A small and unusually pale Orc boy stood gazing out of the window. Outside, the storm was raging, but to the boy the rumbling of thunder seemed like a distant echo of deafening applause. He was dreaming of glory, and triumph, and fame. One day, everyone in the Empire will know his name. One day, he will become a symbol of strength and power. And one day, his father will find him, put his hand on his shoulder and say: "I am so proud of you...".

Of course, your pieces can be bigger than that. I made my example fairly easy. anyone who guesses it correctly can have a go. The rules are the same as in the Trivia thread. You can make up riddles about Martin, Sheogorath/Jyggalag (though it's kinda hard to imagine either of these Princes as a child), or the Grey Fox. Just be creative :D

Enjoy!

Cheers,
Norroen Dyrd.

I would do a picture but it's a bit late where I am. Next time perhaps. :|

The young Altmer shook his amblec observing the reaction. Boom! He rises above the table, his hair blasted and charred. Hood nowhere to be found. His fellow mages probably heard that. But no bother. He dived his head back to his alchemy book to evaluate what he did wrong. Perhaps poor quality ingredients, or the wrong concentration of liquids. Whatever it was he would find it's source.

Bang bang. One of his elder mages was demanding him to cease his destructive practices. He hoped that when he grew up, he would move away from his home and find a private, quiet place to do his experiments in peace. But he was still young. His elders controlled him. But he could only grow up. And that would come eventually.

Right... Er...

The little Breton family gathered around the fire for a customary evening talk. "I have heard strange tidings from Solitude..." the father began. But the children groaned: "We don't want boring stories about politics! We want stories about adventures!". The father sighed and started one of his never-ending tales about journeys to distant lands. The children listened with baited breath, gasping at all the appropriate moments. "I wish I could go to Morrowind too, some day..." the eldest boy said dreamily. "Aren't you scared of these nasty creatures Daddy told us about... The things that lurk in the dark, biting people?" his sister asked with a shudder. The boy shrugged. "I don't think they are that nasty," he said, gazing thoughtfully into the fire, and a strange gleam appeared in his eyes...

What was the boy's name?

Well, I don't know the answer to the current one, I will be following this topic in case anything easy comes up again. Like that one with Ancotar, even I knew that one.

Although, now that I think about it, this does sound slightly familiar, am I the answer to this one?

Right ho! :D Your go!
(BTW, the line about Solitude is there for a reason - a hint at the time period - just before the start of the War of the Red Diamond).

A young Imperial boy woke up after a good night's sleep, heading into the living room, to see his parents both looking very sad.

"Someone has broken into our house overnight, they've taken everything of value, including our food for tonight."
the boy's mother told him.

"So we'll just have to go hungry or tonight?"
the boy responded.

"It does look that way, yes, I'm sorry."
his mother answered.

"You don't have to apologize, it wasn't your fault, it's all those thieves, it's never been so much of a problem before, but something really needs to be done about it. If you ask me those scum don't even deserve to live among us. We're all hard-working people and they can just come along and take that away from us. I'd give anything to just be able to wipe out the thieves, put them all behind bars, where they belong."
the boy yelled angrily, stomping and storming off.

I'm not the best at knowing anything about the actual character pasts, so if there is given information on it, it could conflict.

Even so it shouldn't be too hard to know who that boy was.

Okay, here I go again...

Yawning and stretching, the Apprentices started getting out of their beds and preparing for yet another day of studying. One of them, a young Altmer, took a small book from under his pillow and began to scribble in it. "Hey, what's that you've got here?" another Aprentice asked, peering over his shoulder. Then his eyes widened with surprise and he gave a deafening snort. "Hey guys!" he choked between fits of wild laughter, "Check this out! Our Elf friend is keeping a dream diary! You get it? A dream diary! Like a little girl!". He slid to the floor, clutching his stomach. "That's none of your business," the Altmer said hoarsely, desperately trying not to blush. "It's alright," a teenage Argonian girl said to him soothingly, patting that part of his back that she could reach. Then she turned to the laughing Apprentice, her moist orange eyes flashing with anger. "You stop making fun of him!" she said, "This is important research that you'll never understand!".

Now, who were the Altmer and the Argonian?

EDIT: @ GUM!!! Sure, this is Lex. While describing a fictional episode from his childhood, Vicente pointed out a recognizable feature of his character, i.e. his hatred for thieves.

Okay, this one might be a little hard:

The young female Argonian crept through the bushes outside the aylied ruin. It was late afternoon and only the suns peak was visible over the horizon. But the inquisitive little argonian slowly approached the stone entrance, eyes wide open and alert. As quietly as she could, she hefted the stone door aside and tip-toed down the stairs. She went through the twisting halls, sneaking by a lonely skeleton.

After a few minutes of wandering she entered a large room. In the center a halo of light shone on a wide coffer. She wasn't surprised that it was locked and took out her lucky lockpick. A few seconds of fumbling resulted in the metal lock clanking open. The argonian girl gasped at it's contents; platinum coins, a pair of elven gauntlets and fine jewels. Selling this would feed her family for years. Though another stark realization entered her head. She had found treasure and she liked it. She decided from then she would search for the greatest of treasures ever known.
