Daggerfall Issue #465^3 1/2

Anyway, I'm having a bit of an issue that I thought I solved but didn't.

You see, I get a black screen. This black screen, it like, froze my game after finishing character creation and attempting to go on to the part where it says, "Lol, you crashed, have fun going through the hell dungeon!"; So then, I try again. Freezes at the same spot.

Now, it did this before, so I tried reinstalling a few times. Eventually it finally worked, I got a character. Not happy with her though, so I wanted to make a new one... Same issue. Any way to fix this short of reinstalling repeatedly until it lets me finish a character again?

I'm using the free version from Bethesda in DOSBox.

So you did actually get past the black screen once your saying?

To be honest with you your technically running a game on a machine that shouldn't be able to, it might take some time but I say just keep installing the game till it works.

I tried to install it once and it didn't work at all, so you sir are lucky in that.

It just really, really sucks to get all my stuff in the right spot, perfectly just as I want it in my class, and then needing to do it five or six more times.

You could always try here. Download the file called DaggerfallSetup.exe. I have only tried the ArenaSetup.exe but I believe they work the same way. It gives you an .exe file which you just use to install Daggerfall like any other regular game, it also lets you play it in fullscreen. It uses DOSbox, just someone fixed so that it enters all necessary commands automatically.

That actually worked. Thing is, this installation had videos, which mine didn't for some reason. So that leads me to assume the black screens were simply due to me not having video files, regardless of the fact that I extracted said video files manually.

Great, I'm glad that worked!
And about the videos, it's the same with Arena, Bethesda's version doesn't have videos, but the ArenaSetup.exe version has.

It's highly likely you'll need to reinstall Windows with adjusted settings specifically for Daggerfall

Although, you could try reading the above posts and giving more information, in this case I'd recommend trying the Windows reinstallation first.
