Re: Hardest Game
You're entitled to your opinion, of course, but Cherub Rock isn't *THAT* hard, is it? I'll grant you, I'm more of a guitar player, raised on the heritage of Guitar Hero since the first game, so I never really got into the drumming as much, but my roommate is a drummer and I know he's played that song without comment, and he's commented on quite a few other songs. Most of them are downloads, but not all.Kestral wrote:Rock Band,Cherub Rock, drums on Expert. Hardest thing I've encountered in any game.
If you want to talk about hardest challenge I've dealt with in GH or RB, Thrasher. One of the early Rock Band downloads, and all it really is in flailing on the strings at about 18 notes per second the whole time.
For guitar, rock band tends to be harder than guitar hero for the same songs because it's harder to strum at quickly and have the game accept it, and because since the fourth GH, you often don't have to strum ridiculous shred solos in GH, which honestly is a lot fairer toward what is expected of you.
If we want to keep talking about GH/RB, I'll be happy to start a new thread for that if there isn't already one.
Wait...no casualties of any kind at all?? Damn, I don't think I could even do that on casual. I still remember the one level where you get the 5 heroes, and I think that's the only level I've ever done without casualties, but only because I kept going back and reloading. The hadest game ever is probably myth 2 soulblighter on legendary with no deaths... for the entire game.

it was like 3-4 hours a mission for some of them. I watched some of the films sped up at 16x speed cause im to lazy to watch them normal for that length of time.
it was intense.

Re: Hardest Game
Christ, Land Nine.
It takes freaking forever.
The reason for this is because the Aztecs start with 3 large cities and you one. Their armies are also Rank 6-7+ and are well equipped with enough archers to quickly make your creature mincemeat.
To sack the main city you'll probably need to capture the two other cities, which at specific moments your Japanese and Norse allies come to aid you to capture their respective cities. However, if those fail, good luck with that.
But, the problem with that, is that it's after the Aztec's full frontal assault and their Volcano epic power. For those of you out of the loop, they summon a volcano outside of your city gates. They way I stopped this from happening was throwing rocks and miracles at the advancing armies. Well thrown lightning attacks can deal with enemy regiments easily, in addition to well thrown fire miracles. They'll probably burn the enemy armies, and with that, no enemy army should even get past your walls. Keeping an eye out for catapults is a must too. And always watch for the Aztec creature and make sure your very own takes it on with the Master upgrade in combat. If for some godforsaken reason you're using the cow or monkey, send some armies to help them.
While and after the attack, devote all resource to spamming a Siren Wonder (Cheapest of all wonders resource and tribute wise) at the edges of your influence. The Aztecs will always cast it at the north-western wall of your city, so keep spamming the wonder to push your influence far out. The Aztecs may get an insta-epic miracle, but they can't break the rules by casting it inside your influence. Stop all incoming lava with your water miracle.
Keep villagers tasked on your Altar at all times, you'll be needing it. Also make sure to get a steady amount of ore and food for armies. When the Norse and Japanese armies come in, you can just take all of those resources from those captured cities as your own to fuel your armies and wonders.
Keep in mind, winning by impressiveness is impossible. You start out in a hardly impressive area and not much resources to build big cities. The only way to go is war, and for war you need big armies.
Build slums with tons of nurseries positioned accordingly to significantly boost birth rate. It will be a high-population density area so the nurseries will be very effective. Also keep farming and and use your granaries to full effect.
The Aztec creature will be repeatedly arisen and attack. Every time it gets resurrected it, it gains more maximum health.
For the full frontal assault of your own, I reccomend that you build your influence towards the enemy gates so you can destroy the enemy gates yourself and give your armies the rest. Once they're down, fully charge onwards with your armies and creature micro-managing. Keep all enemy arches away from your creature, as they will have fire arrows and will be seasoned veterans. They'll kill your creature quickly.
Use catapults and enough soldiers to keep your enemy infantry away from your archers. Pack tons of combatants in your armies, because the capture of the Aztec city will take a bit, and the Aztecs may even counter-attack with more of their soldiers or their creature.
I spent a lot of time on that level.
In the end, you would've won, however, your conscious will tell you that maybe you should've done it the good way. Which always [&@%!] me off. From every point before that, I always built impressive cities that impressed every enemy I came across. The Norse, both Japanese brothers and their tag-team level, and the penultimate Aztec level. It took time but I did it in the end.

Re: Hardest Game
one from way back is populous 2 on the commodore amiga - final level, you can't build any land or use any spells but zeus can hit you with swamps all the time so your entire population basically is on the move and only able to inhabit land by taking it over. I still won after a 1 1/2 hour battle tho :woot:
at the moment the most difficult game for me is finishing all the missions with 5 start ratings on final fantasy 13 - the giant cactus monster is ridiculously hard (am resisting urge to read walkthroughs) and i thought that my characters were pretty tasty by now lol

The main reason I could never get past the Aztecs was that damn Volcano. I would almost be at the point of sicing a huge army on them, but then that Volcano!! Argh!
I made it past all the other levels by dominating them with my awesome armies. But that one...ugh...

Re: Hardest Game
One of the first things i did was try to get rid of that thing. I forget how i did it, but i think it was a combination of using miracles(epic) and sending my creature off, when he was'nt killing their gorrila

Yeah, their stupid creature annoyed me. When I wasn't casting Fireball miracles at their soldiers and watching them burn up, hehe, I was killing that stupid thing with lightning. Other creatures bug the hell out of me, mainly because aren't gods only supposed to have creatures?Generalno1 wrote:One of the first things i did was try to get rid of that thing. Unless you had gotten a specific spell on one character, it was just impossible to finish Helms Deep halfway through the game. Not to mention that every try took more than an hour.

The first ever Rayman game for the PS1, but I was 6 years old at the time.
Is this meant to be witty, informative or deep? I doubt I can manage all three.

SWAT 4 and the expansion on expert setting is very difficult. There is no save function on each level and to progress you and your squad can only use less lethal weapons. The enemy and squad AI is the best I've ever seen. Each level is a nail biting experience.

Yu-Gi-Oh: Forbidden Memories is one of the hardest games I've ever played. It doesn't really have that much strategy or skill involved, mainly just luck and tons and tons of grinding.
