Hardest Game

As a probable reiteration of a previous thread that doesn't need to be resurrected (probably), what in your opinion is the hardest game you've played?

For me, it has to be Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia.

However, for intentional pure sadistic difficulty, five words.

Probably Monster Hunter. I would only recommend it if you are REALLY patient.

Probably any of the Pokemon games if you spend most of your money gambling and aren't anywhere close to a payday.

I spent about 3 days with a Meowth casting Spare Change before I decided to give up.

Any strategy. I think I suck at them. Whenever something goes wrong I panic and spoil things further.

I'm going to say Metal Gear Solid 1, mainly because of that Metal Gear Rex boss battle at the end.

Modern Warfare 2's "Favela" mission on Veteran. I threw my controller into the pillow and mashed the buttons several times.

Daggerfall's tutorial dungeon. Still haven't escaped. Still haven't bothered trying

After a hard spot on that level, I said "I refuse to move until the moment it auto-saves.
Now, I'm stuck on the sub-marine level. Not a hard level itself, but hard because you have one minute to get to a sub on a map filled with enemies that will shoot you if you move.

There's hardest overall -- of which many games have noteworthy reputations, there's hardest you've played -- and probably given up on in frustration, and there's hardest you've actually beaten -- which there's a very likely chance you learned to play by rote repetition. For example, I've never beaten a Mega Man game, but I can see how someone would; you just have to play it forever and ever until you completely memorize the games in your mind and in your muscles. However, for hardest I've beaten, there's probably worse from long ago that I'm not thinking of, but my answer's gonna be Amplitude. It's an old music game by Harmonix (makers of first two Guitar Heroes and Rock Band) where you have to play the patterns of each instrument in a given song, and the songs at the end are pretty ridiculous. To get the last song, you have to play on the highest difficulty, which is downright ridiculous. In fact, the difficulty is called Insane....Were it not for the fact that the last "level" is only unlocked once you play through on Insane, I wouldn't count higher difficulties. I mean, *ANY* game can be super hard if the right conditions are imposed.

Why did you even allow a mudcrab to even hit you once?

I thought I would feel satisfied if I killed something while on hard. Which, by the way, means that you do 1/6th the normal damage while enemies do 6x the normal damage. Easy is the exact opposite and medium is even-steven.

I'm amazed at how many people on forums said this game was easy to play on nightmare, and that it was only a mild challenge if you soloed it on nightmare. I had enough trouble beating the game on normal. I'm sure my use of tactics could have been refined, but I thought I had a pretty good strategy...my characters just very rarely executed very well.

Until I discovered those things you could shoot at the Archdemon, I died, literally, ten times in a row. My team was Me, a mage, Wynne, (My favorite teammate ) Alastair, and Sha(y)le. And I've died enough times on normal to know I can never play Nightmare.

And I can never forget my first time playing Oblivion... I didn't know fast travel existed, so I ran straight from the sewers to Kvatch, only stopping once, in an Inn outside all cities, and was killed by a Stunted Scamp in the Kvatch Oblivion World... those were the days...

You can shoot things at the arch demon? i just kept frying that thing with inferno and used my melee chars to lower the popultion of darkspawn that kept showing up and nipping at me when it was out of range
