I don''t know programming, but I believe true seasons could be difficult. And like Kestral writes, the game time vs. real time span probably doesn't support the idea. I could imagine having a "weather machine" available, I could create some storms or disasters, floods, and so on. You could start your own winter, change parameters to make it as mild or harsh as you want. How wide the area could be, I don't know, and what time limits there should be, I know neither.

I'm quite sure this could be achieved through a mod. --- Perhaps "sure" is a bit highly esteemed?

The dynamic economy shouldn't be that difficult, with ups and downs. And a banking system could include interest on savings, as well as bonds etc. one could buy and sell. Why, we could even have some inflation. And loan sharks.

But basically, the economy doesn't need to be that difficult: certain areas produce certain goods, others produce other goods, so it's just a matter of buying something here, like wine or a special renowned sword, transport it somewhere where they are in want - quite natural to get a profit out of it. Plus highway robberies, of course!

hmm, i see what you guys are saying about the seasons, maybe their not very long? idk
somthing else that could be cool would be tactical control of followers; like the ability to for a phalanx and other "formations". and im tired of my followers not sneaking...you would think if im sneaking up behind a dremora they would realize i don't want them charging, while shouting about fiercesome mudcrabs.

The follower / companion part sure could use improvement. Perhaps it could be possible to create a constant activation, in order to communicate when ever you want? With a couple of hotkeys it would make the whole thing different.

undead182 wrote:As some have said, I thin k a more dynamic world would be amazing. I mean including seasons, economy everything. Yes this would be a massive game but isn’t that what Bethesda would want. I could see them waiting till like 2012 and only showing a few screenshots, then bam giving out the details to a game with the most dynamic world ever created.

Wouldn’t you love to be playing and it become the winter and you start seeing more nords out and about and the guards suddenly more "wrapped" up (metal armor would be chilly). Maybe even seeing kajhits growing a "winter" coat. Then when summer/spring come around you get more wildlife such as butterflies and rabbits. This is a simple comparison but have any of you played animal crossing? Yes that game can be very long and drawn out, but its appeal is coming in and waiting for that time of year when your favorite holiday comes around. Plus, what about the weather really affecting your character, cold winters could affect you more and slow your fatigue regeneration down if you’re wearing cold metal or thin light armor, better go with fur and vice versa for summer. Plus maybe add more “mutations” werewolves, vampires, and other stuff like that. You sleep out in the wood you could get bit by a werewolf...

So for ‘holidays” there could be simple stuff like festivals and tournaments/games in the summer, Maybe you see a lot more people traveling around camps and just around the wilderness. Then when winter rolls around trees lose their leaves, snow accumulates, maybe the economy gets affected.

Now to the economy, I’d love to see it fluctuate, highs lows, and not make it based off only what you do. They could step up their radiant ai system and make people actually have jobs and make money. Trade; hmm good have to be transported somehow. You see it on fall out three, why not horse drawn wagons that transport good. Maybe be highwaymen and rob them, then you’d see the economy of that town affected. During the winter maybe the nords take over and start doing all the transporting.

Now how bout online? I agree with everyone that an elder scrolls mmo would be terrible and kill the series. There is too many out there and it would be too generic. That doesn’t mean that their couldn’t be some cool online features. Let’s say they add a randomly generated loot system for monster, add higher level boss monsters. Ok, so you get some cool high level enchanted sword, but wait, your character uses blunt. That’s where an “auction” house would be cool; you could put up that sword for a price or maybe let other people set up trades with items they found. With this, they could remove how oblivion tends to throw tons of septims at you at times. Also, how about simple co-op, maybe have the ability to make 4 person parties to go “raiding” with. Now to take a bit from Guildwars, also have henchmen and such to “hire” when you’re playing offline

There is so much they could do for TESV and I wouldn’t really mind waiting till 2012 if we got such an epic game, as long as we get teasers and such. Maybe you don’t want to get tangled up in all this complicated economy, and realism, well they could make a slider that when it’s at a high number, the game is more realistic. At its highest, it could be as I describe, lowest could be just like oblivion. I’m sorry this is so long, its 1:36am and I’m tired but this is everything I’ve been brainstorming for awhile, this was one page on MSword…wow, thank you if you actually read the entire “article”
I rather like all your ideas Undead. But I don't think it would be a console sort of game, even if they came out with a new one. It would have to be an online game much like WoW. Plus there would also have to be a continuous story, not just a set plot. The story would have to be ongoing, constantly updated, again, much like WoW.

If it has to be an mmo to get my ideas, then I don’t want them in the game. I strongly believe if TESV became a full scale MMO the game would be way to generic as there is so many MMO's it would be hard to be unique. I just want what Bethesda is amazing at, an awesome single player game. Now as I said there could be some online features that could be fun.

While I'm not against it, I just dislike the fact that it'll go like WoW.

The Warcraft universe has a huge lore.
WoW? Still all the lore, but people tend to forget it because of the fun and gameplay.

TES MMORPG? Gonna turn out the exact same.

Yes, an MMORPG would be quite a bad idea. This would also remove part of the appeal of TES for me. I love roleplaying, not as in I'm a farmer and go to work each day, but as in I don't randomly run in towns, if I find a beautiful spot, I'll stop to stare at it for a while, etc... Just like I would do in real life. However, in an MMORPG, everyone runs EVERYWHERE, and it's hard to stop without someone yelling "OMG wht a n00b y hve u stoppd!", at least in some off the more populated places. This would break inmersivness, and just THAT, in my opinion is 40% of the appeal of TES. Maybe it's just me , but I think most of you would agree.
I would like SOME interaction between now that I think about it. Maybe even though the game is single-player, there's a "Box of magical trade" where you can put an item, and it's sent through internet, or however such information is sent amongst consoles, to one person chosen at random. They can then choose to either put in however much gold that item is worth, or declining the trade. If they accept, you could get a pop-up saying something along the lines of "A hero from another plane of existence has accepted your trade", or at least a similar feature.
You thought Dark Elves wouldn't ever rule the world. You where wrong.

Yeah... and earlier they have said:

Question: Is there any news on TES V?

Answer: No

and they have often ended the show with something like this:

Send your questions to.... ... ... or write a question about TES V on an enchanted scroll, go to the library and search for a book about the arcane arts. Then learn how to open a portal to the dimmention of the Gamer Overlord and give him the scroll so that he then may eat it in his frustration over not being able to give you any information about the game. :?

Kestral wrote:They're some problems with that.

Although it would be neat to have seasons, consider the difficult and climate of the region. Elder Scrolls just about nearly operates on 365 game days in a game year, and there are already some holidays and in Daggerfall and Arena towns would celebrate them. However, when there's 365 days a year, ask yourself this: how many game days have you played in on your longest save? Maybe, at best, 2 years, I haven't heard or seen something more than that. Even then, you'd only really experience two full things of each season. Months in game, for me, are long and I'd hate to spend hours of real time playing a game where everything is the same. This is the reason why we have dynamic regions. i.e., Snowy mountaintops, sunny hills, musty swamps.

An in-game economy can provide more opportunity for more entrepreneurial characters, and adverse benefits and consequences to other characters.

Maybe if a character goes on a wanton killing spree through Town A, a town that mass produces wine, drastically changes wine prices to greater highs all throughout the province. Maybe, it even jacks the ingredient demand higher. This is a general example, but maybe because you killed so many people that sales drop and so does the local economy.

In addition to that, I can imagine trade caravans carrying all sorts of stuff. Maybe there's some system of banking you can cash in on (or steal from) all with their side-effects.
How about this: you create the most powerful character ever, kill all people and eat only apples for the rest of your life muhahahhahhahhahahhahaha...!!!!!!!

What about attributes past 100? If you could specialize in something to, say 150, while at the same time losing ability in another area? If someone really wants to get deep and high... why not? Eh?

ya! and you could also do it with skills to! and you would get more skill perks on that skill! and i just had a brilliant idea, instead of just having poison apples, there would be none, but there would be special poisens to poison food, i think it would add a lot to rping

It's QuakeCon day. And you know what that means? Remember what they said?

It doesn't mean that there will be an announcement, but I still can't wait. I hope we'll at least get some more information.
Even saying "Sorry guys, we're not making it" would be better than saying nothing.

I would like to see in addition to the typical main quest, where "the hero saves the world", how 'bout an ANTI-main quest where you can do just the opposite? You know, be the villain & take over? & I want to see the DB again, & being able to join bandit gangs, & also have the opportunity to join corrupt versions of the mages, thieves & fighters guilds? :Twisted Evil:
