I don't want this to turn into a fight but if you add on the price on online play ($50) a year for x-box and then to buy an extra hard-drive and a HDDVD box the PS3 ends up costing much less and even still has better graphics

1.Xbox live is optional and you dont have to pay if you have silver membership
2.most of the time you dont need a aextra hard drive and if you do you play xbox 2 much
3.you dont have to buy a HDDVD box most people have HDDVD players already so they dotn need one
4.all the stuff you said is optional you dont NEED any of this stuff and if you want to continue this little argument PM me

Will it be the same price as a new game? Because that would kind of tick me off. They could at LEAST make the downloads for the original game over XBL like, really cheap when this new edition comes out.

Oh, and for the little PS3/Xbox360 argument:

1. It's a shame the PS3 pretty much failed. People forget sometimes, when a console fails ALL GAMERS LOSE, so it's not worth making fun of it just because you like the 360 better or something stupid like that.
2. The PS3 failed because it couldn't keep up with the innovation of the Wii, and the empire the 360 has built up over time with good games, a horde of followers, and the popularity and fun of Xbox Live.
3. The PS3 and Sony in general is slowly losing all the exclusive titles it's had over the years. Many game developers realize they can make more money, and please a greater audience by making their games on multiple platforms.
4. Yes, almost everyone that owns a 360 has Xbox Live.
5. No, they don't have an external hard drive. (You really don't need it unless you're downloading thousands of different themes and other crap to your hard drive, but even then you could just make your own and have it on a USB)
6. The only time the PS3 is worth its ridiculous price, is if you get it for the blu-ray HD DVD player. Again, not necessary. Real gamers buy consoles TO PLAY GAMES, not for the basket of other crap that has nothing to do with video games.
7. The graphics are nice on the PS3, but I've only ever seen it played on an HD LCD screen. If I had one on my regular TV, it would look the same as the 360.

I don't know, maybe it just didn't reach my demographic, but to me the PS3 is Sony's version of an entertainment center trying to be all crammed into one, thus losing its original purpose.

I replied to malajak by PM, but I'll reply to you here.

1. True, if the PS3 fails, the X360 owners will eat dust, because competition makes it better. But the PS3 is far from failing. It's worldwide sales are as good as the PS2 sales 7 years ago and better than the X360 last year. The only reason people think the sales are poor is because they compare them to the Wii which is doing much better than the average.

Remember, the PS1 was getting its ass kicked by the N64 in the first year. Just like in any races, it's not because you are first halfway of the first lap that you will be first at the end of the final lap. The PS3 will not match the PS2's success, but it will probably get better. I has 6 years do so and has the best potential of the current consoles.

2. Innovation is not only in the controller, it's also in the gameplay. Gameplay is also about AI, physic, realism, stage size, number of enemies and particles... On that, the Wii is really far behind. Really, the next gen belongs to X360 and PS3. By 2010, when everyone will have HDTVs, the Wii will be falling behind. And you call 10 millions an empire? You cannot build an 'empire' in a year. The PS1 and PS2 built an empire with over 100 millions each. The X360 took a while to get great games like Gears, and the PS3 will also get its great games in due time, which is not so far. As for online play, RFOM already proved that you can get much of the same fun for free.

3. The same is also true for the X360. Oblivion for example released. Many X360 fans said it would never be on PS3, and surprise, the PS3 gets a better version. Ninja Gaiden, one of the most popular game on X-Box is now on PS3. Kane and Lynch was only on X360 at first, and it's now on PS3 as well.

It has not much to do about PS3 or X360. It's mainly about the fact that making a game today is very expensive, and getting a potential twice more profit for a little more work is very interesting for devs. We'll see more and more games go multiplatform on both consoles as time goes.

4. True. The best things about X360 are due to Live, so it's pretty much a must to enjoy the X360. The other add-ons are useless IMO.

5. 20gb isn't much. I already use 12 gigs on my X360, and I bought it in last november, so it's not very old. I would have to delete demos or movies to make room for more, but I like to keep everything so I'll wait until I really have no choice.

6. The PS3 is now 500$. 100$ more than X360. Considering Live is pretty much a must, it's about 50$ more, and you get free online play for life (I'll have to repay 50$ in half a year on X360), Wi-fi, Blu-ray, 3 times bigger HDD, HDMI... It think it's a very good deal, even if you don't watch movies on it. I watched a single movie on my PS3 so far, but I enjoyed RFOM online, Oblivion and NGS.

7. Graphics really depends on the games. But to get true 1080p, you'll need HDMI, which only PS3 and X360 elite haves. 1080p TVs are not standard today, but it won't be too long before everyone has an HD-TV, so they are just preparing for the future.

this is all that needs to be said in this little "discussion" then I would like us to get back on topic..

in order to get the two systems up to par with each other

Xbox= 400/500 bucks +HDDVD player(100 bucks) + Hard Drive upgrade(100 bucks) + 150 bucks for 3 years of XBL (I know it optional I am just bringing them to par) so a total of $750-$850

now the PS3 $600+5 for HDMI cable =$605

ok now if we were to take the PS3 down and take out all the 360's "optionals"

thats 605 minus 350= $255 for the PS3 and still $400 for the 360 OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG      :!: :!: :!:
that means the without all the extra items the PS3 costs ALLOT LESS THAN THE 360 WHY ARE WE LETTING IT FAIL?????

You don't know much, right?

First, both consoles are sold at a lost. So they are both losing money at every sales. And from analysts, Sony loses money per sales. There would be no way their consoles would sell well if it was priced at profit at launch.

The PS2 and X-Box were also sold at a lost. They remake their money with software sales. (well, X-Box never brought any profits to MS.)

Second, twice as much? Where did you do your maths? It was 1.5x more, it is now 1.25x more. And that's without any add-ons for X360.

lol, Gamespot are MS fanboys, everyone would tell you.

Anyone who played both would tell you that the graphics are better, load times are better and sight range is better on the PS3 version.

It isn't worth the extra money to rebuy the game if you already have it, but if you have both consoles and still haven't bought the game, then there is no 'extra' money, as they are priced the same thing on both consoles. I bought my X360 after Oblivion was confirmed on PS3, so I waited to get it on PS3, because I prefer the PS controller.

I don't have the 360 nor the PS3, but from the video all I think is different is as TS198 says, the sight range, and the brightness of the screen

Load time as well. On one screen, the game makes a slight pause due to a loading in the field while the PS3 continues only writing loading.

But PC is the best for Oblivion. :P

Yup, thats for sure. I have better graphics on my pc than both of the consoles. And then there is the discussion about whats the best controller to play with. Haven't tried either the PS3 or Xbox controller for Oblivion, so I would not know.
