Thieves Den Madness...

Post by Mishra »

Well last night after finally stealing enough gold to by the last part to my Fortress of Solitude (Frostcrag Spire), my trading lady went to the Thieves Den. We arrived, my faithful steed "A pryory pony", atop a hill overlooking a small cove. I knew we would have to wade across the deep blue waters, being that cove entrance, as seen from the hill, was encircled with water. I could see Anvil city in the background, the sun was setting and the reflections on the water married with that of the city made the scene spectacular. Gazing around the cove I spotted a Ninroot plant, and swam over to the small island to pluck it. A running dive off a nearby rock put me right in front of the entrance to Dunbarrow cave. I was kind of scared to go in, not knowing what would happen. I entered and....suddenly experienced momentary vertigo as the walls came crashing down on me. Virtually, my world was collapsing - all around me was darkness - then suddenly I ceased to exist. I had experienced my first case of random amnesia?! I guess the sheer beauty of the cave was too much even for my vast memory to handle! As I awoke again, I tried to enter the cave, though again the fainting spells just became worse. In frustration, I just wasn't sure if I should enter into this cave, being that it might corrupt my mind, or worse, just have been some wives tale I'd been sold. To pass the time I picked some flowers around the cave and lowered my "expectations" to see if that might help my mind in coping with the cave. Viola! It worked! A cave I had entered with several mysterious doors. I walked around to see if I was alone, not really knowing what I was getting my fair skinned Breton self into. Mucking through several puddles, and after grabing a variety of junk I thought might make good fair for trade, I stumble. I look down, low and behold, another Ninroot! Lucky stars! My ever growing collection of strange flora increased by two unexpectedly, that could prove promising for future ventures. Slowly crawling up the passage I spot a sabre on the ground - flick my finger against the blade. "Good metal! This might trade well for that blasted pair of candles that witch in the Imperial City is trying to charge me." I open the door atop the cavern and immedialy hear a clicking, like that of grasshoppers. I've heard that sound before when I've practive summoning.....Skeletons! Immediatly I'm set upon by two of the calcified creatons. I had become over qualified in blade and armor and had surpassed my Sensei's strict training regiment. With great sadness, I found another skeleton and let him beat on me with his saber until I had fallen. The shame an adventure has to end in such a way - but there is always another nite! I had succeded, however, in seeing the pirate ship I'd heard rumors of in town, though from afar, and maybe next time I'll get closer. Till then!

Flora. Not fauna. Unless you're talking about adding a pet to your collection ;)
Nice, gonna try too! As soon as the ship docks at the Bay! ;)
There once was a Prince named Mehrunes
Whose buttocks sounded sonorous tunes
‘Twas an odiferous song
People sang before long
They had enough of his full crescent moons.

Correction noted! Just a mental lapse. Thought of one but wrote the other. Anyways, it was quite a nite of trying to get my chacter inside. I had about 5-6 crashes loading up the dungeon before finding out I had to lower all my settings. Wierd thing is that the game has run fine everywhere else, but going into that dungeon just killed my machine. I'm hoping that isn't a problem elsewhere in the future. Also, those skeletons in there are mighty hard, they are called Redguard Skeletons and don't seem like your normal everyday type of walking bones.

Your technical problems don't sound too good. It'd be interesting to know if any other players have had similar experiences.
Possibly, the file didn't download correctly, there's an error on the harddrive where the file is located, the file itself may be corrupt for some reason... there can be som many reasons for errors. *sigh*
Uninstall and reinstall.

Yes, I thought it might be the file, so I uninstalled and reinstalled. That didn't help. It wasn't till I lowered my screen resolution/texture size that I was able to get it to load. I'm not sure why it was a problem, it would be nice if there was some way to debug it...at least some of the older windows systems let you know if it was a memory error or an executable problem.

Candman please check the date of the latest post on a thread before posting in the future please. The last post made here was from 2006 and this would be classed as "necro-posting" where you post in dead topics. Also it would be safe to assume the person has forgotten his problem or solved it.
Im still here :)

As Guy #2 has pointed out, it's considered bad form to post in topics that have been dead for a long time. Please have a look at the forum rules (found here) and try to check the date of a thread's last post to see if it's still active. If it's not on the first page, it's safe to assume that people have lost interest in it.
