Spending day cleaning up after cat. Either he ate something ungodly or he has a stomach bug.
Also, I'm studying Roman sculpture today. It isn't as much fun as the Greek stuff.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
You mentioned you were taking Latin classes Leilah. May I asked how those are going? I'm attempting to learn it my self, only without a teacher. I'm using a Latin dictionary and learning to cuss in Latin at the moment (I heard some wise old man say that a person has to learn to cuss in a foreign language before speaking it fluently).

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I finished my compulsory education about, oh, two hours ago now. I swear they hand out commitment awards just to make those who never had a chance in the first place feel worse. Ah well. I suppose I didn't do myself any favours by refusing to participate right at the beginning of my compulsory education.
It was quite fun, though they picked the one quote to describe me that I wish they hadn't.

Venger, I think you're confusing me with another member, I'm not learning Latin. Can swear in it a bit, can throw around a couple of insults, but I'm not learning it. Maybe you're thinking of Norroen Dyrd?
Congrats Tom, what are you going to do now? Also, what was the quote?

I'm going to go to sixth form and 'I got stabbed.' I'm afraid that doesn't really work unless you know me personally.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Yeah, your right. Sorry. Okay to Dyrd then, how goes it? I find it frustrating at times because certain English words, like 'of' and 'the' don't translate into Latin. In other words, there is no word for 'the' and 'of' which makes translating script and other such things difficult as you have to use synonyms and other round about means when composing a sentence. This language barrier is even more irritating as 'of' and 'the' are common place words used frequently in English. Any tips on learning Latin other than constantly familiarizing my self with words from the language?

Sheesh, I can't say that I am learning Latin. More like, listening to our professor spinning most amazing yarns from the ancient times. She knows so much and has such an amazing manner of storytelling, that there really isn't quite so much time left for LatinLeilah wrote:Venger, I think you're confusing me with another member, I'm not learning Latin. Back on topic, I had a really great day today. I passed my oral test in Spanish, and then had a one-hour break before the next class, so my friends and I went to McDonalds and had lots of McFlurry and iced cola and ice-cream with caramel. After classes I spent some time hanging around near a fountain, refreshing myself - as it was, like thirty degrees Celsium. Then I was joined by some altogether random kids and we each got a good share of splashing. At home I finished my Rhethorics assignment and emailed it to my professor. Life is grand.
EDIT:
Venger, I seemed to have added my post at the same time with you. As far as I know, the is sometimes translated as ille. You know, Magnus ille Alexander. But I really do not seem to mind the lack of articles in Latin annoying, as in my native language there are none whatsoever. I guess I have to cope with other kinds of language barrier problems. I do not think that I will ever be able to translate latin texts without much effort, but it sometimes helps me with English and Spanish. Yeah, and I suppose it might be helpful to first learn to recognize grammatical forms in the sentence. For those whose level is not so sufficient Grammar always comes before vocabulary. At least, that is how I've studied languages so far.
Man, this is one huge post

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Yeah, it might help if i paid a visit to the verbs part of the dictionary. I too thought that ille translated into the, but for some reason now i don't think it does. Often times if I can't find the word I need in my dictionary, I'll use an online translator and the word 'the' only translates into, hey guess what, 'the'. I'll need to rechecked my sources, but you might be right.

I went walking in the woods, discovered that some sort of beast with black, long hair has been scratching it self on branches 5 feet in the air, figured out that holly trees have thick trunks but thin branches, found a furry oak leaf, and then came home to pull dozens of pin head size ticks off me. Oh what fun!

If you go into the gaming biz, sign up with Bungie or Bioware. I have heard great things from both studios. And I've played great things from both studios.

I'm about to set off (well, in an hour or so) to go and play a gig in East Grinstead, the Babylon of Sussex. This is quite exciting for us since we've never played any further afield than Shoreham before. I've also spent my day doing many productive things, leaving tomorrow free for watching Doctor Who and the Grand Prix.

Today I made quesadillas, which really tested the temperature tolerance and dexterity of my hands to the limit.
Tomorrow, check out the Francesinha. That's one hell of a toasted sandwich right there, though I can never get the sauce right.

I also crashed into a glass door at a store today. The door cracked a little at one of the hinges, but the employees said it was no trouble.

Anyway, today I had two soccer games, and I played keeper/goalie for a half in both. The last game, I dove for the ball, and took a knee to the temple. I lost all sense of feeling in every part of my body but my head, which was in a lot of pain, for about 15-25 seconds. After that I saw in black and white for a few seconds. My neck and head was in a lot of pain for a while. I have mostly recovered luckily, though.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Today I almost cried when I saw a cardboard cutout advertiseing the new Disney movie, based on Tron. That is quite literally the most miserable excuse for a plot ever. It's called: wait for it... Tron Legends. That is the ultimate stretch for a movie subject, and I can think of a ton of other way more movie-worthy games. As in every other video game I've ever played.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Long story short, our yard is muddy and we have grass growing so we built two fences (one with a gate) around my old car port which is now my puppies sleep area (moved her kennel and play basket there too) but last night I heard her getting over into the yard somehow.. puzzled me as the only way I thought she could was to jump over the [short] fence, but I knew she wasn't a jumper (a fit border collie, just.. doesn't jump XD) and this morning I decided to test it, I went through the gate into the yard and locked it behind me-she followed me.. just walked around the freaking fence, because when my mum's boyfriend built it he never filled in a gap between the fence and the garden as the house got in the way (little gap between house and garden)
SO today I filled the little gap up with some log like sticks and even a brick =D.. five minutes after I let Angel out I hear she knocked it all down! ARGH
