Strange Glitch
So I've had Oblivion for about a week now and have loaded a bunch of mods. Some that make the game a whole new game. Two of them that I liked the most were Bananasplit's Better Cities and the Open Better Cities mods. Being able to walk into Bravil and Bruma and have no load screen was great. So I've had these mods running for about 20 hours now and today I travel to Anvil since that's one of the last places to visit. Well I walk up and the gate is closed. OK nothing big just hit open and it should open right? Well that's what I though too. But nothing happened, I could walk through the door and see the town but I couldn't move. Fast travel to another door and same thing. Finally I travel too the castle I think and it works I'm in the town. Well I look around and I notice something strange. Every gate leading out of Anvil is walled up. There is no door just steps leading up to a wall. So I figured it must be a glitch with Open Better Cities and I deactivate it. Load my game and more then 3/4 of the town is gone. No chapel, or any homes around it. So I deactivate the better cities mod and same thing. Since I'm pretty new too mods I ended up just deactivating all my mods starting a new game and reloading them putting the bananasplit's better Cities mod last and just leaving out the open cities mod. That has finally fixed things. But it also sucks because I liked the way that it added a few extra things to the towns other then the open gates that I liked.

Re: Strange Glitch
I guess the simplelist reason for this mod glitching like this is probably a confliction between the two. It probably means the two mods aren't compatible, but I wouldn't know because I only have open cities.

Probably what Spiney said. Modders can't always make their mods compatible with others, especially when they modify the same area, so you'll be forced to chose one or the other.
I used to play Oblivion, then I took an arrow in the knee.

Re: Strange Glitch
I've had the same sort of thing happen in vanilla Oblivion before. It was possible to walk right through the Skingrad gate and around a low-resolution version of town, but I couldn't get the gate to open. I think it happened because the cell containing Skingrad didn't load into memory correctly. Anyway, the solution for me was simply to go somewhere else (in this case, a nearby fort), enter it, then exit and go back to Skingrad. This forced Skingrad to reload--correctly this time.
I don't have experience with the Better Cities mods so can't comment on whether you might be experiencing a conflict.

Re: Strange Glitch
Well if you look on TESnexus and read about the mods they say the work together. They did work at least until I got to Anvil. And now the way I have my mods loaded and working OBMM shows the Open Cities mod in black. I wish there was an easy way to figure out the load order for mods so they would work the right way.

Try BOSS (Better Oblivion Sorting Software). It takes the guesswork out of mod load order.Tatts4Life wrote:I wish there was an easy way to figure out the load order for mods so they would work the right way.
