Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
Bravil has some neat quests...and it's right across from the door in Nibben Bay
Leyawiin's a little too backwater for me, but it still has a few points of interest...like Blackwood and a couple of other interesting side quests. It's also funny hearing the Khajiiti and Argonians complaining about each other.

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
I would like Blackwood much more but for one thing: Realistic Weather mod. Sure, it makes the rest of Cyrodiil more attractive, but it makes Blackwood a constant monsoon area. What's worse, the rain is so LOUD I can barely hear the music(or enemies, for that matter) over it, unless I crank their respective volumes WAY up. When it's not raining, though, I love it.
Don't mistake lack of talent for genius.

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
My first house is in Leyawiin. Now I use it for storage. It makes me sad to hear that people don't like the area.
"All right people, we created this multi-billion dollar facility under Cheyenne Mountain so that we can use this thing. Anyone know how?"
Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
I love Bravil. It's one of my favourite cities, no kidding.
I love the way it is, a slum city, no-one cares about it, the count is a [censored], etc. etc.
I also like the Skooma den, 'cause you can kill everyone inside, and then claim it for yourself. You can even store items inside, but only after you have used the CS to make them all non-respawn.
Also, I love to kill the count (after I have completed the quest so the count will send soldiers), and then claim the throne as mine (and then add my character to the bravil castle faction), and pretend I'm da count.
Then, of course, I take Khajiits from the other cities, or make some in the CS, and place them in Bravil.
What I'm saying is, I LOVE playing on the PC with mods :3

Leyawiin is... eh, not too bad. The only reason I like Bravil is I can kill the Count and take over the castle. Other than that, I don't really like it.

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
Hm, well....They are nice cities, but without mods they have little roleplaying value...
Argonian and Khajiit can have some fun but the whole, "oo Im in black marsh" feeling wears off pretty quick sense there is little to nothing to emerce yourself in.

i only go to those cities when a quest takes me there usually. i prefer skingrad/anvil area as its more visually appealing to me

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
They definitely have a flavour which is a good thing, but it's not a flavour I like. It's scungey, dank and much how I have been led to believe Brighton is like. My main objection though is that down there the map feels narrow. You cannot go that way, turn back. But I don't want to turn back. You must, even though you can see clear space right ahead of you. Uh, If I keep going will a helicopter gunship ventilate me like in Far Cry? No, but you just can't go that way. Fine, I'll just practice my mime-ing against this invisible wall. Do that then. This unfriendly attitude was not mentioned in the travel guide.
Short version: I go there only when I have to.

Bravil looks cool...Leyawiin is just...Leyawiin.

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
I like both of them, especially with Better Cities, it's hard to decide. I would much rather live in Leyawiin though...

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
I only go there when I need to complete a quest or to explore the dungeons around these cities.
But yeh they're pretty much the two ugliest cities imo.
My "top 9 cities" would be:
1. Chorrol
2. Imperial City
3. Bruma
4. Skingrad
5. Cheydinhal
6. Anvil
7. Kvatch
8. Bravil
9. Leyawiin

How is Bruma better than Skingrad?

Glarthir lives in Skingrad and I don't really like him. He's a bit scary with that axe next to his bed.Generalno1 wrote:How is Bruma better than Skingrad?

Chorrol reminds me of Lord of the Rings and the Oak is my favorite spot in the entire game.
Small Oblivion spoilers ahead..
Bruma... well lots of epic events take place here (main quest) and the whole atmosphere is just brilliant. The houses that are covered with snow, the arrogant but yet also dumb Nords, the tavern full of drunk people, the burning Mages Guild, the cosy house that you can buy, your statue, the nearby mountains with Cloud Ruler Temple... it's just a great place to live.

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
I don't really like bravil, its very boring in my opinion. Leyawiin is alright, but I'm mostly at all the other cities, and the Shivering Isles.

Something i love about Bruma is that J'ghasta lives there!! And i love how you kill Baenlin, and then Gromm is found grieving at Olavs Tap And Tack
But i personally cant choose a favorite town, or even a most hated town, cos i just love everything about this game, and all the towns are unique

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
Bravil is neat. I like City-Swimmer(the gender confused Argonian), the Statue with the creepy Bosmer standing in front of it every night, the Thieves' Guild Doyen S'Krivva, and just the general atmosphere (Drug den, drug dealers in alleys, drug-using royalty
)
And Leyawiin? LAME. The count is lazy, the Countess is a bigot, and the people are just pretty boring to me... And the weather sucks.

Surprised at the lack of Cheydinhal love. Oh well. Both Cheydinhal and Bruma are neat towns. Chorrol is cool too.
I heard a rumour that you’re an idiot, is there any truth to that?

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
cheydinhal is a nice town. the local authorities are a large turn off to me...ulrich is a sack of wine.
great design to the buidlings and i really like the bridges, as oppose to those in bravil...
the house for sale in cheydinhal is also one the cozier, well-designed interior as well. plus, there's a bank next door
.
i too vote leyawin rains too much, the local meteorologist would get rather, broken record like.
bravil isnt bad, but not really good, nice folk down there, a little distracted...but just seemingly, unclean.
bravil be for ye who need to hide.
chorrol is quite elegant.like the city for a the upscale mountaineers.
bruma and anvil are both like vacation spots. each offering the two ends of the spectrum. hot, wet, paradise. or cold, damp, snowy.
ii'd perfer bruma, anvil has ghosts...
i vote, bruma or chorrol in the end...drink up me hearty yo ho!

Re: Bravil and Leyawiin
I buy a house in every town, just out of principle. The place where I like to hang around most is Bruma, I guess for pretty much the same reasons that Josjie listed. Chorrol and Cheydinhal are also really good because of their visual appearanca and because some of the NPCs I am fond of live there. Imperial City... well, it's the capital, with lots of facilities to use and sights to see. Skingrad and Anvil are surrounded by picturesque natural scenery. As for Bravil and Leyawiin, the former is original in a way, and reminds me of some shabby little towns I have been to. The latter has its good points, too, but that would chiefly be the quests. I guess its architecture is kinda bland. And the rain can get annoying at times. By the way, the Countess is killable, right?
In between the lines there's a lot of obscurity.
I'm not inclined to resign to maturity.

My favorite city is either Anvil or Cheydinhal, with Chorrol being next in line. Bravil is like number 5 on my list, with Leyawiin at 6.
