Okay, so I have an X-box 360 Elite, and have played through the Oblivion campaign. I borrowed a friend's Shivering Isles disc to install the expansion, and it installed fine. When I put the Oblivion disc back in and got to the main menu it said "loading extra content", and I loaded my saved game.
But now, no matter how long I wait, or where I go, none of the expansion content is there. No Strange Door. No quest update, nothing.
Now, I had a 360 before this one, and back then, using the same Oblivion disc and same Shivering Isles disc as I am now, installed, loaded, and played the expansions on that one fine. But now with my new 360, it doesn't work.
Anyone got any suggestions? And to weed out some possible responses: No, I am not a Live user. never have been. And on my old Xbox 360, the expansion loaded and played out fine without ever going online.

Re: Expansion pack problem
I think the answer's pretty simple. It's not enough just to install Shivering Isles; you have to have the SI (not Oblivion) disk in the machine. At least that's true for my PS3 version.

Re: Expansion pack problem
With the Xbox, it's different. You have one disc for Oblivion, and the expansion comes on a separate disc that is JUST for installation ("Installation complete now remove disc and insert Oblivion disc to continue play"). Then you put the Oblivion disc back in to play the whole game plus the expansions.
This time however, the extra content is not appearing in my game.
Thanks for the answer though.

Re: Expansion pack problem
I'd still at least try putting the SI disk back in and see if that makes a difference. If I remember correctly I got the same message after installing on PS3 ("Insert the Oblivion disk to start playing"), but the SI quest and Strange Door didn't actually show up till I put the SI disk back in. Admittedly it's been a while, though, so I may be remembering incorrectly, and even if that is true for the PS3 version it doesn't mean it is for the Xbox version.
Afraid I have no suggestions other than this...

Re: Expansion pack problem
Well, thanks anyway.
But yeah, the SI disc for Xbox is strictly for installation purposes.
