1. Morrowind/Oblivion (their tied, I remember the first time I entered balamora, it was best video game moment ever!. Oblivions was being able to pick up the old bones, or pretty much the physics engine being included, which was my biggest complaint with morrowind)
2. Timesplitters series (my fave on is 2)
3. Fable 1 (I absolutely hated 2! The clunky magic system was its biggest problem for me and the open world sucked major A$$)
4. Mercenaries 1 (Just because I clocked over 30 hours in it, and dont as why or how i did it)
5. Last Stand 2 (Yes it is a flash game, but its these type of games that prevent you from getting bored at work )

Subjectivity, indeed, rules okay. Morrowind's non-physics let me go to the ends of the [virtual] earth, in order to furnish my Raven Rock factors abode, filling it to capacity until the loot-bag appeared with trinkets and wotnot. Oblivion's overactive physics sent whole contents of tables flying across the room if you stood up, and made stacking a shelf a task reserved only for those imbued with saintly patience.
Am I saying shelf stacking equals better game?! I kinda guess I am. . .

I have to kind of agree. There's something about TES that drives one to decorate their home. In Oblivion I got angry so many times by having everything in the house shift or whatever every time I walked in the door, having items fly out of display cases or off shelves, etc. I had the patience, but it was so infuriating to have it all destroyed by a simple act of walking around.
Absolutely. My kitchen area in Raven Rock is a darned work of art (sliced meat, Nordic knives, paper coasters for bottles, bread and the finest potions on the shelf, etc). Interior decoration in Oblivion resorted to me giving the whole room the business end of my battleaxe. . . and then storming off to kill things.
Honorable Mention
Borderlands:
Only been playing this for 4 hours and I already love it! I'm not sure about the plot yet, but gameplay is akin to Oblivion in that looting = lots of money
I won't give these any certain order, just.. my favourite games that come to mind.
Morrowind, Oblivion, Dragon Age: Orgins, Fallout 3, Assassin's Creed II, any games with the word "Sim(s)" in it is tied, be it Sims, Sims 2, Sims 3, SimCity etc with rare exception. Financially speaking it's my favourite series as a whole because I've probably spend hundreds of dollars on the Sims series. I know for a fact I've spent over $200 on the original series ($50 for the game, $30 for expansions, then I repurchased a few that were damaged AND I ended up buying the Collection).
That's subject to change within minutes as I often change my mind depending on my mood.
1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR) - It helps that I'm a big fan of the Star Wars universe, but this might be the most played and favorite game of mine.
2. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
3. Fallout 3
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare
5. Assassin's Creed 2
Honorable Mentions (I have many): Fable 1 and 2, Morrowind, Halo series, Assassin's Creed 1, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Mass Effect, Dragon Age: Origins, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction, KOTOR 2 and I'm sure many more that I simply can't name at the moment.
With Mass Effect 2 coming out, I'm hoping I can add this to the list...
You make me sad, ace, but unfortunately this line of conversation is off-topic...
I would like to add a few honorable mentions to my list: Dragon Age: Origins - It really is very enjoyable, it might even break into my top five... Borderlands - A loot game that beats the tar out of Diablo II Lost Oddesy - Out of left field perhaps, but I just recently rediscovered this game. I believe it qualifies as one of the best (if not the best) turn-based RPGs I've ever played.
Here we go, I'm going with games that made the biggest impression on me rather than best because everyone says so.
1. Okami - Beautiful to look at, to listen too, and play. If I had to choose 1 game this will be it.
2. MGS 4 - The best visuals and another fantastic story, I will admit that tears were rolling down my face at the end
3. Indigo Prophecy - AKA Fahrenheit, this 'game' blew me away, a great alternative to the usual button mashing
4. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King - I bloody loved this game, rich, simple, colourful and HAPPY
5. Oblivion - One of the best and most flexible RPG's I've ever played (though if I'm critical the main quest wasn't so special)
Other games I love mostly come from Rockstar. We have GTA (SA being the best), Max Payne (Bullet time and interesting narrative), Bully (It just feels nostalgic, even though it's before my time) and GOW (The BEST action games for playstation, bar none).
It looks like Oblivion is taking the lead, followed by Morrowind.
I have a few questions:
Sonixboom wrote:1. Halo Series (my love increases as each game is released)
2. Myth II Soulblighter (the game that was given its own genra, Real time tactical was born from this seed. our community lives on... with about 500 active players playing this 12 year old game)
3. Oblivion GOTY and Morrowind Goty (its a tie... im sorry )
4. Marathon (ancient bungie game from before most of you all were born)
5. James Bonds Nightfire (it was SUCH a great game)
@1 You can only pick one game. Halo 1, 2 or 3
@3 I cannot allow six votes sorry So I'm afraid you have to choose. Or you put Morrowind GOTY at 4 and forget about Nightfire
Raven wrote:3. The Sims (series if that's okay, if not, forget this hidden message)
4. Oblivion/Sims 2(if above isn't okay)
5. Morrowind GotY/Sims 3 (if above above isn't okay)
Series do not count. Expansion packs do, however.
So your top 5 will look like this:
1) Super Mario 64
2) Fable
3) Sims
4) Sims 2
5) Sims 3
Is that ok?
Assassin's Creed II - now deserves a place for being freakin' awesome.
Populous: the Beginning - great RTS, recently discovered an XP patch so have been playing it like mad. Love it.
Unreal Tournament - if this can make a German kid scream like that, it's gotta be good. And it is. One of the best.
Fallout 3 - slips a place since ACII was brought in but is still damned amazing.
Other great games include Age of Empires III (though I prefer II), which I have recently rediscovered since my new PC can play it at max settings. In fact, it can play a lot at max settings. Mirror's Edge, Motorstorm, GTA IV... all great.
I just feel that Oblivion, as well as Morrowind, are both landmark games, and deserve the recognition they have. Unreal games deserve more, and you can't fault anything like the Sims or AoE. Phew. Done.
"All right people, we created this multi-billion dollar facility under Cheyenne Mountain so that we can use this thing. Anyone know how?"
Well, then I shall revise my entire list as well. Having to have a strict order sucks. But here it goes:
1- Assassin's Creed II
2- Oblivion
3- Civilization IV
4- Age of Empires II
5- Fallout 3
Honorable mentions go for flower, Portal (two masterpieces), Borderlands (for the sheer fun factor almost replaced Fallout 3 in the list), Medieval and Rome: Total War (Medieval wouldn't be here if Rome played better on my computer), Age of Empires III (the evolution of technology and the introduction of EXP and the Home City system play a big role) and Killzone 2 deserves a minor recognition for the best graphics ever.

Obviously. Everything about it, to be honest. The gameplay, the story, the setting. I loved the first, and this one takes it to the next level. Picture everything that's good about the first, double it, and take out the bad, and you'd get the demo of this game. Too bad there's no demo, though.
Not to mention it has some of the best and most funniest dialog on a videogame ever.
I only found two minor 'mistakes'. The maximum distance to lock on is incredibly low, and you can't dye Altair's armor.

I still have to wait a couple of weeks for the PC version

Heh, TBH, Assassins Creed is more a console game than PC game. Platform games are just more... console'ish
FPS/RPS/RPG/whatever/lulzwtfbbq are wa-hay better for PC, though.
Doin my own, thang, and if you got a problem with that
Then the nina go bang, bang, and I'll be everywhere on the map - but
I rep that West
