starting out home

Post by Chrodar »

When you start a new character and its only lvl 1 what do you use as a home for storage and sleep? I tried bravil sea domes mod and I used the console for the money but it doesn't rp well. What's a good idea I can do?

Go to the waterfront in IC, walk on to the ship owned by the hostile pirates, kill them (or let a guard do it for you). After that, the Captain's Quarters work great as a house, nothing in there is stealing, and the chest labelled Captain Toussad's Booty is non-respawning and you can use it for storage once you pick the lock and take the booty within. Just don't stash your stuff anywhere else in there.
And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.

Go do the "Zero Visibility" quest and live in the inn. Your room there has a non-respawning container.
“Fine day” said the young man.

“Gods!” hollered Zaki, sending the young man flying with a well-placed punch, and dashing away.

I second urthdigger. I always head up to Aleswell. Easy quest, and the chest in the free room you get is non-respawning. Plus, its fairly convinent to the Impereal city.

Here's the quest:

... and you know, I don't actually have an Orc character.

Yeah, but there's not much in the way of shelter or a bed there.

Once you deliver the amulet, the chest in Weynon priory becomes safe, and you can sleep there as well.

Or Battlehorn Castle. I mean, come on, you get a whole castle to yourself. I wouldn't get Dunbarrow Cove, I got it and it sucks.
But yes, the place where you deliver Jauffre the Amulet is the one that Mickey was talking about.

I never thought about doing aleswell first... what a great idea. I just sold all my stuff immeidately after i got it and slept on bedrolls in camps til i could afford to buy a house.

Although what I found when you over stuff a chest, a drawer, cabinet etc... your stuff will slowly disappear. I thought it was happening but wasn't sure... so i wrote down EVERYTHING i put inside a chest at my IC house and low and behold once there was like way too much stuff in there it started disappearing. I'd add stuff... walk away come back and wahla gone.

So don't put all your eggs in one basket. I store stuff organized throughout my homes in every city I bought a house...

"Sometimes items appear to disappear from containers if you have already put a lot of items into that container. This is merely a display bug, however: if you start removing other items from the container the missing item(s) will reappear. Also, if you "Take All" items the missing items will still be added to your inventory. Saving the game while in the same zone as the container then reloading the save will often make all the missing items reappear; leaving the room, or looking in other containers after reloading, will break the container again."

Could that be what is happening?
