Hopefully Bethesda will add mannequins/armor stands to (one of) the player owned house(s) in TESV.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
Know what else I'd like to see? TESV will read your saves from TESIV and you
can choose to start off with the the offspring of your TESIV character and allow
you to choose an item or two for your parent save to pass onto your offspring
save. Or at least some kind of thing like that. It'll also take into account the
factions joined, placement in the factions, fame/infamy, etc. Just an idear.

Well i would really like necromancy, better voice acting, Keyring, Mounted combat would be tricky, but cool, things to do with Yarn,Cloth,Pelts ext. some more unique weapons would be nice.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
Hmm...
I think Bethesda should use something like the weapons crafting system from Rune Factory in which it's essentially... WITH WEAPONS!
So, they should add mines like iron mines or glass mines or ebony mines (or traders to get materials) and smelters to melt them down into usable material. So if I want a Daedric weapon I'd have to soul trap a Daedra (Dremora?) and infuse it with heavily smelted ebony ore to make a daedric weapon.
Perhaps I want something different too, though.
And more non-standard weapons!
I'd also like a long main-quest like Daggerfall with many turn outs like Daggerfall and Fallout 3. I'd also like reputation back.
Also, crossbows. Spears. Different types of hammers, short swords, and long swords. I want more skills and not just 'Blade' and 'Blunt.'

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I agree that a dynamic world would be great, but only in some ways. For example, if you kill off the entire town except for one person, they wouldn't go about their standard routine. Also, special festivals, events on holidays, etc would be very cool. Also: make certain Bandit factions joinable. You could live in the bandits' cave/camp/fort/ruin with them, and raid travelers on the road. Of course, this would also require more NPCs to travel on roads.
And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.

In the days of Daggerfall and Arena the date was a large thing. Festivals all around, and sometimes not all-around but in general areas.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I was thinking that we should extend beyond "Dagger, Shortsword, Longsword, Claymore" and into a more balanced system where there are multiple blades of similar length. for example, a Falx and a Gladius are of similar size, but have very different uses. whereas a Falx is a curved-bladed sword made for reaching around shields and puncturing armor, but isn't suited for parrying and a gladius is a heavy but easily handled blade that isn't great at any one thing but is okay at many

Actually, the Gladius is possibly the greatest stabbing weapon ever made. It was designed for this, and does this exceptionally well.

Those aren't designed so much for stabbing as lunging. There is a difference.
Edit: Except the stiletto, which was designed for stabbing, but isn't the most effective thing ever in the weapons role.

It has daggers, but apparently everyone in Cyrodiil is stupid and thinks you swing them at someone's face.RobotNixon wrote:I agree. All the ones that were taken out of Oblivion, like spears, crossbows and self-propelled weapons. I briefly thought that pikes could be a good laugh, but would be a bit cumbersome to carry around.

Re: Elder Scrolls V weapon suggestions
I'd be interested in seeing some H2H weapons like claws/metal knuckles. It would be even better if they set it up so that your gauntlets affect H2H damage as well.
More steath oriented weapons. Something like a stiletto that has crap damage in combat, but devestating sneak attacks.
While they aren't really weapons, a greater variety of shields would be welcome as well. I'd like to see more than the generic round shield we have now, and give them variable effectiveness. Small shields should be quick to counter with and allow greater mobility, while heavy shields provide much greater protection (crouch behind some for full body coverage), but at the cost of speed and manuverability.
Naginatas, 'nough said.
Staves (as actual weapons), maces, real warhammers, and mauls (which are just called warhammers atm). Might is well throw in a Bec de Corbin and give us a polearm hammer as well.
Throw falchions and any of a variety of scimitar designs in as well. We don't really have anything resembling the first, and the middle east is woefully under-represented in these games.
I might come up with more later when my brain kicks starts working for the morning...

"Real" my be the wrong term, perhaps "standard" would have been more appropriate? Anyway, I mean single handed weapons as opposed to the massive two-handers he have now.r wrote:What's the difference? Hmm, shouldn't this technically be in the Elder Scrolls V discussion?
I would like to see all of the normal weapons, plus a feature to be able to use anything as a weapon with appropriate damage. Fear the Nerevarine with a frying pan!
