That's right. I'm done with NaNoWriMo for this year. It may not be the best thing I've ever written, it's certainly got some of my favourite things I've ever written in it, but what have I learnt?
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here, huge success...
So yeah... I finished my NaNoWriMo novel.
And I revived my notblog with a post about, what else? NaNoWriMo.
Check it out, cats, kittens and dogs or something?

That's right. I'm done with NaNoWriMo for this year. It may not be the best thing I've ever written, it's certainly got some of my favourite things I've ever written in it, but what have I learnt?
- I can write a 50 000 word novel in a month.
- I'm actually funny. I laughed out loud at some of the things I wrote, and I know it's not just me because I've quoted lines at people, and they've laughed too.
- Procrastination is good. Not good if you never get around to it, but good if you take a break. The idea for my novel actually came while I was procrastinating from planning for my original idea.
- I can't write a serious scene without inserting Shakespeare with a friggin' rocket launcher.
- I am so sick of the name Nikolai
- I can write several thousand words worth of dialogue without using the letter "c"
- When writing an eccentric teenage character, I end up writing a caricature of myself. It's interesting to see how much of myself is in one of the characters. He certainly says things I would.
- I have no grasp of minds that are not my own. And that's a good thing.
- Novels are 90% filler. If you're wondering why an author put something in there, chances are it's to fill space.
- Novels are really hard to write. I have gained a lot of respect for novelists.
- I can write a 50 000 word novel in one month.
This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here, huge success...
So yeah... I finished my NaNoWriMo novel.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Congratulations, Nicky.
I feel like reading it now, but I procrastinate too much on reading. I always start reading a book in September and I end up not touching it until Summer of the following year, when I finish it rapidly. Then, embraced by the spirit of reading, I get another, which I start in September...and y'know the drill. So I may not finish it. But I do feel like reading it, and that's what counts, right?
Also, now I am listening to Still Alive as well, damn you. It's one of my favorite songs.
On topic, let's see what happened to me recently... Well, I got my haircut, and now I look more like a guy and less like a wannabe model/playboy. One of my female friends did complain, though, so I guess I wasn't ugly after all. And that's about it. I also got hit by a surfboard on the head while body-boarding.

Indeed. This would require severe uses of antibiotics, to survive looking at the front page.Kestral wrote:Dogmantra, even if it would mean gouging out my eyes I would read that novel.
Then, of course, after having read the book, burn it, gouge your eyes out, then shoot yourself in the brain.

Now I am going to invent a way to work that off by playing videogames.
I'll let you know how it works out <.<

I ate DELICIOUS rolls and played tons of a custom-made Halo 3 Infection gametype with my cousins. Good stuff.

Today we had a sort of end of year awards ceremony. I got two awards, Drama Queen and The Jester.
Makes me feel special
. For all of you saying: "How the hell did he get the humor award..." I guess I'm just funnier in real life.

It's rained for almost 24 hours here.
That's all I can say because I haven't left the house.. the bottom of our road has about 2 feet of water over it.

.....................it hasn't rained in ages here..and it's the monsoon,it is supposed to bring plenty of rain ,mostly in the form of thunderstorms but this year it has hardly rained.what makes it worse is the seasons here are-hot summer, very hot summer, very very hot summer, and the monsoon and with it plenty of thunder storms and a few cyclones/hurricanes.but this year I'd guess that it rained probably 4 times this month and the monsoon is almost over.i hate irregular weatherThe Dog Whisperer wrote:It's rained for almost 24 hours here.

It's rained every day in November in the UK, apparently. And on most of those days it's been everywhere, all day, all at the same time. I'm glad I live somewhere which has good natural drainage (the sea). The Dog Whisperer wrote:It's rained for almost 24 hours here.

So today my bank account got drained by paying council tax, then on the way back from the post office I see a newspaper headline saying that the binmen are thinking of going on strike. Yeah, thanks guys. Spend my money standing around a brazier shouting a lot, or more likely, getting drunk in a pub called something like The Dog And Communist, why don't you?

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I went into Maths today and there was a giant '18' on the board. I wondered if we were going to be doing something inappropriate today, and our teacher invited us to guess. I still wondered if we were going to be gambling etc. Five minutes later he spoiled it by yelling that it was the number of balls of paper he had found at the back of the classroom, that he wasn't going to have paper fights while he was turned to the board, and therefore the two back rows would be staying 18 minutes at the end of the lesson, three minutes too long to catch their buses, unfortunately.
I was disappointed, but still smirked as I left on time.

"All right people, we created this multi-billion dollar facility under Cheyenne Mountain so that we can use this thing. Anyone know how?"
