Boethiah's Hunger wrote:I feel like giving riddle-making a shot:

The bright, shining shop I call my home
Away from my abode I never roam
I supply the most commonplace of the items
Dark and light, the only place you will find them

I can sell you something nice
I can tell you something of the common ear
Things, things, things, things
I sure like them, it would appear.

Who am I?

(this should be easy, and it kinda fails)
I'm tempted to say Claudette Perrick, owner of the Gilded Carafe for the name alone, however, I believe you actually mean Tilse Areleth, proprietor of the shop Common Treasures in New Sheoth.

She buys and sells everythng but spells, never leaves the shop, is the only merchant that sells bot Mania and Dementia apparel (light and dark), and all of Bliss (the district in which she is located) could be considered "shining". The second verse refers to utter fascination (read: crazed obsession) with "things".

Very good, Dlarsh! I feel kinda special now that I realize that riddle wasn't too shabby.

By the way, the "I can tell you something of the common ear" is about the fact that she tells some rumors unique to her character.

Your turn.

Alright, this one should be a cakewalk.

Bestowed by one who is the anticipation of a fallen God,
and forged by great and terrible beasts to the north.
It is said this mighty and ancient item can be remade anew, stronger than before.
Alas, the power of the azure demons are lost to us here,
so you must make due with the ancient treasure.

Bonus points for a full breakdown, but it requires some knowledge outside the scope of Oblivion.

Nope.

I admit, this requires some Lore knowledge to pick out the correct answer.
Some knowledge of Morrowind wouldn't hurt, but it isn't required, the item does exist in Oblivion.

Okay, one more guess. Is it Goldbrand?

Yes it is. Care to do a breakdown for brownie points (they're worth absolutely nothing aside from my respect, but I like to know how much of the riddle was broken :))?

Well I can't do much of a breakdown but, what I got was this
Bestowed by one who is the anticipation of a fallen God,-It's a Deadric Shrine Quest
and forged by great and terrible beasts to the north.-It is said to be forged by dragons
It is said this mighty and ancient item can be remade anew, stronger than before.-I don't know this one, my guess is that it's stronger in Oblivion than in Morrowind (or whatever game it was in before)
I don't know the rest of it...the only reason I got this was from the "Forged by great and terrible beasts" part.

Also, I suck at riddles so someone can have my turn.

You still got it, so brownie points anyway :) (breakdown ensues)

Bestowed by one who is the anticipation of a fallen God, - Boethiah is called "the Anticipation of Almalexia", who was a Tribunal God from TESIII who was slain by the PC

and forged by great and terrible beasts to the north. - you got this correct

It is said this mighty and ancient item can be remade anew, stronger than before. - In Morrowind (TESIII) you could actually turn Goldbrand into an even more powerful weapon (Eltonbrand)

Alas, the power of the azure demons are lost to us here,
so you must make due with the ancient treasure.
- Eltonbrand, and the process to create it, were a giant Morrowind easter egg that involved the college team of one of the developers (the Blue Devils = azure demons). Unfortunately, the easter egg was not included in Oblivion, so the azure demons power was lost.

Since Nyao passes, and I'm guessing dlarsh isn't writing another one, I'll toss this out there so we have something to work on.

My ways are mighty, but they are not for everyone.
I can show you how others see you, or even who is looking at you.
I can lead you to anywhere you haven't been, or simply take you there outright.
I can take away the obstacles in your path, or adversaries to your throne, or guide you through your quest.
I can make you rich and famous, or a powerful villain, but the choice must be made by you.

I'm going to guess: The Console? The almighty ~ key can do all of that, and while some enjoy playing in the console settings in game, if not used in moderation, it can quickly cause disatisfaction for some players.

Stahlbrand's got it.

My ways are mighty, but they are not for everyone. -- Double meaning: Only PC users can use it. It's also "cheating" to some people who feel it taints the game experience.
I can show you how others see you, or even who is looking at you. -- /tfc, /swdp

Alright, hope this works:

I'm thinking of a character,
I don't think his/her hosting city knows about his/her interests and appetites: dark worship, and something darker still.
Perhaps not an expert in his/her field, as an earlier commercial venture seems to testify.
If you know how to ask, and can cover the price, he/she can equip you with something that is basically worthless.
Helpful and informative, nonetheless.

That might be too many hints, looking at it again...
Take thy shield take thy sword

For none but the brave
Shall rise up from the grave
To see the Valkyries fly

Correct Jedi, here is the elaboration:

I don't think his/her hosting city knows about his/her interests and appetites: dark worship, and something darker still.
- Obviously the Daedra worship and necrophillia

Perhaps not an expert in his/her field, as an earlier commercial venture seems to testify.
- the first "All Things Alchemical" is a burned out ruin north of the imperial isle

If you know how to ask, and can cover the price, he/she can equip you with something that is basically worthless.
- if your merchantile is over 50, she will sell a ring that buffs alchemy - buffing alchemy in Oblivion is broken.

Helpful and informative, nonetheless
- she cheerfully tells you where you can find Sanguine's shrine
Take thy shield take thy sword
All thy weapons to the sky
Ye shall need them when Odin bid thee rise
For none but the brave
Shall rise up from the grave
To see the Valkyries fly

- Hymn of the Immortal Warrior - Manowar

The Tree of Shades? I tried to do this without the wiki by visiting Milchar instead, but I couldn't find anything relevant outside the grove that I couldn't access without the key.
