What do you collect?
There are tons of things in the game that just aren't useful to certain characters, (or at all,) and make excellent items to collect. Do you stockpile anything, either in your inventory or kept at home, just for the sake of having them? Torches? Calipers? Random foodstuffs? Do you have a library in Rosethorn Hall? Museum of unique items?
My current character, who almost strictly melees, with a minor hint of magic usage, collects arrows. I have a barrel in my house, and I dump any arrow I get into it. I've abolished iron and steel arrows, but I have a pretty sizeable barrel-quiver. My Nord might decide to strap it to her back some day and go hunting, though I dare say she'd be more effective hitting things with the barrel itself. =p

Re: What do you collect?
I as well collect arrows along with unique weapons/armor. For whatever reason I put the deeds to my houses and other "important" documents in one of my chests as well as keys and nirnroots.

I put the keys away so I don't have to scroll down the entire list of keys every time to get to my repair hammer. I play Oblivion using a 360, so maybe it is different on a PC...

You hotkey items by holding down Y in the meny, and then you choose the hotkey with the arrows on the left
if you understood that

I collect skulls.
My current character, a female Nord DB assassin (decidedly "evil" and full-time wacko) has a pile of skulls in the fireplace at the Waterfront shack.

Re: What do you collect?
Apart from collecting very piece of enchanting armor and weapon I can find, I love collecting books and every plant. My houses look like a library/garden
A hero can be anyone, even a man doing some as simple and reassuring as putting a coat around a young boy's shoulders to let him know the world hadn't ended.

Re: What do you collect?
I did something simlier with a character, though he was a good guy. The reason? Because my firend and me made this joke when I played the game for my first time (And I was picking up skulls. For some reason.) It went a bit like this:LordWilmore wrote:I collect skulls. My current character, a female Nord DB assassin (decidedly "evil" and full-time wacko) has a pile of skulls in the fireplace at the Waterfront shack.
(Main character and NPC in Main Characters house)
Main character: So, what do you think of my house?
NPC: It's pretty good, but whats with all the skulls?
MC: Oh, those are the skulls of the enemies I have slain.
NPC: You've only killed 8 enemies?
MC: No, those were just the ones that were intact
NPC: ....What?
MC: *Points over to bloody Warhammer*
Yeah, I know, it's sucks, but it stuck, and it's become a habit whenever I make a character who uses a Warhammer or Mace
Ah yes, "Signatures"

Re: What do you collect?
I'm playing mage character and I'm collecting lockpicks in my inventory (because of their zero weight). I'm level 6 and have ~110 lockpicks now (I'm loading game, if I break one).
I have to use them, because I don't have high alteration (49 at this moment) to use decent Open spells.
I have good collection of keys also. But that is because I don't have house with chest now. I will drop them there as soon as I have one.

Re: What do you collect?
Add me to the others that have a chest with keys. I had no idea you could hotkey the use of your Repair Hammer. Don't know why I never thought to try. I just always assumed it was for weapons and spells. I guess that means you can hotkey potions, too...

I'm starting to get quite the pile of bones in the secret room in Benirus manor. I got the idea from someone here though, so it's not quite original.

In my Cheydinhall house I have filled up the two bookcases with jewels.
Pearls, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, gold and silver nuggets.
It's starting to look really cool.

Re: What do you collect?
On evil characters: human souls.
I like to take characters and take their souls and use them to enchant items, usually something that belonged to them, and name it for them. It's the only way I can keep track whose soul is whose. I then take those items and put them in storage somewhere, or on display.
I don't do it with everyone, just special people. Like with my old Argonian assassin, he couldn't stand being insulted especially racism, so when people made stupid comments like "You'd make a fine pair of boots" he'd kill them. I had several guard cuirasses because of this. Or Glarthir. I actually did all of his quests, then killed him and stole his soul.

Re: What do you collect?
I usually collect extremely difficult to get unique items, like the Gray Aegis, Yellow Light/Heavy Rainment, Agronak's Rainment, Emperor's Robe/Boots, etc.

Re: What do you collect?
I like to collect all armor sets and weapons. I try to keep one of each weapon and armor set that I can find, and then I usually sell the rest that I've accumulated. It's a lot easier to come across some armor pieces/weapons than others, so I tend to keep more duplicates of the rarer items that I find instead of immediately selling them.

Books. I keep them in my Leyawiin house. Also I keep a full set of glass armour in each house. You never know.
Man but they took a long time and a lot of dungeon crawls to get together.

Re: What do you collect?
I kinda take every item that is enchanted! Even if has a really bad enchantment
I also once collected these stones(.....uhhhhhh.....i think it was Welkynd stone or something like that) because when I saw one it said it was worth 50.
That was my first character, i didnt even knew what the Welkynd stones could do back then
and when I wanted to sell them the merchant would only give me about 20! So I kept them with me!
I had about 70 or so, shame I deleted that character

Lockpicks and torches. Because you can never have too many.
And when things start to happen,
don't worry. Don't stew.
Just go right along.
You'll start happening too.

Re: What do you collect?
Quest items in general =d
Then at one point, I decided to break into houses and steal only silverware. Then I filled a chest full of the stuff. Then completely forgot about my collection 'till I had to find somewhere to stash a bunch of books.

Re: What do you collect?
Having been inspired by this thread, I have begun to collect shields on my melee character, which is a little ironic because he doesn't use shields (two handed weapons). I don't collect normal shields that go with the regular sets of generic armor, but the more unique ones, like the Blades Shield and the shield you get for being in the Knights of the White Stallion. I aim to get Spell Breaker, the Escutcheon of Chorrol, Ancient Blades Shield, any shield that is somewhat unique compared to the ones that come with the generic armor sets.
