Equipment variations
While I realize it's likely due to basic design changes from the developers, I always wondered about an in-game explaination for the change in weapon and armor designs from Morrowind to Oblivion (and perhaps from earlier games that I have never played). Any thoughts from the UESP crew?

Re: Equipment variations
Just local variation, I expect? Architecture is very different in Morrowind to Cyrodiil so I presume that weapon/armour design would be too.

Re: Equipment variations
Perhaps also the time difference? I realise it's not that big but trends and styles can change very quickly. More likely to be r's answer though, regional differences.

Re: Equipment variations
It would make sense to be regional. Most likely Cyrodiil don't import from other provinces, which would explain the lack of Chitin and Adamantium.

Re: Equipment variations
and Morrowind is riddled with dwemer ruins, while Cyrodiil is riddled with Ayleid ruins. I wonder what Elder scrolls 5 will have? I heard rumours that it's going to be in Skyrim, so maybe Akaviri or Nedic ruins?

Re: Equipment variations
There might be a few Dwemer ruins dotted about because the Dwemer settled quite extensively in northern Tamriel, not just Morrowind. Nedic would be the best bet though.

Re: Equipment variations
I felt that Morrowind had the best equipment designs, if only because there was a much larger variety to choose from over Oblivion.
