Elven Armor

Post by Guy No. 2 »

I was looking through the wiki recently for information on Elven Armor. However the armor protection rating is vastly different from my game :?

For example on the table it says Elven boots should have a rating of 4.0 but my games has it at 3.
Not a major difference but the Elven cuirass on the other hand in my game is 7 but according to the wiki it should be 10.
Am I missing something here? Is the wiki wrong or does this have something to do with my skill in Light Armor??

Thanks for the help :)
Im still here :)

Yep, you're armor rating increases with your armor skill. Just like the damage of a weapon increases with your weapon skill.

Btw, elven armor is probably the worst looking armor ever in a TES game. Esecially the boots. Ewwww...

Yeah, it's explained (confusingly) here. I think the chart is for a 100 rating in Light Armor.

Don't forget the helmet, too. It looks like horns are coming out of the person's head.

I think that Elven armor gets way more bad hype than it should, it may look odd, but how is it any worse than glass? not only is glass BRIGHT GREEN but it also pretty much glows in the dark. I challenge you to get full Elven, helmet or not, then get the matching horse armor without saying "Awesome". or not.

I like the helmet. But I mostly like the armor because of lore. Elven armor was used by the Ayleids. Even if the armor looked like actual poop, I would like it - go Ayleids dudes.

dunno ... I kinda like it ... think it's supposed to look "avian", hence the whole "feathered" reference thing ... they had a thing for ducks, I guess ...

but seriously, I could go for the "bird of prey" thing ... at least it's different ...

I personally like Elven armour over many others, but then I seem to accept alot more things too. For the highest armour rating that doesn't look dorky for a stealth character, the Elven actually works quite well because as mentioned, Glass pretty much glows and Amber is bright gold.

Ps, the thread's question was answered long ago.

i really like the elvish armour especially the boots lol. i didn't know that your skill actually affected the defence of the armour...so made a few mistakes in my games then in wearing good armour lol

This started to go off topic immediately, nice!

The Elven Dagger looks awesome, it's my favorite "assassin" weapon.

Is it really off-topic when the topic is titled Elven Armour? Granted, it strays
from the first post, but it's still revolved around Elven Armour the entire time.

And the boots are atrocious at best. The helm could use a trim. And the
dagger looks almost ceremonial, which is why I like it.

Personally, I think all the Elven weaponry is is pretty sweet, but the armor is terrible. The full set makes me think of a giant gold, bipedal toad.

I actually like the Elven armor. It's my favourite female armour because most of them look pretty bad on female PCs. The except, for me, is the helmet. The boots never bothered me. I may have to take another look in my game when I happen across a pair, but I don't recall every disliking them. The helmet though.. I hate it. I hate all open helms, for that matter. The Orcish helmest is probably the worst. It's why I usually tend toward heavy armour, the helmets have a tendency to be closed. When I wear light armour I almost always stick with a hood of some sort; whatever matches. Green with amber, black for most anything, etc.
