In the discussion page there's a bit of uncertainty but it seems possible that Umbra is marginally higher in level but not inherently 50. A bit confusing. :? I use the Xbox 360 so I couldn't honestly tell you since I don't have access to the files.

Maybe it is because you have the difficulty slider low? put it on medium and then lvl 50 may come to be more realistic.

Paralyze is an easy way to beat anyone in this game get an enchanted sword with like 3 seconds and it will be one of the best in the game.

you should post that in the best weapon topic and at lvl 1 you can't get any weapon with a enchantment like that

.........difficulty slider

Post by Dark_elf »

ok since ur on the topic of the slider ive come up with 2 questions (lucky u!!!)

1.which way do u slide the slider 2 make it get harder (left or right) and vice versa

2.if u put the difficulty right to the top will it make ur level increase more than if u had it half way or at the lowest difficulty

if u cud answer these questions id be in eternal debt to you; if not il order a ninja clown to come to your residence and sing 'ashes to ashes' by david bowie in reverse for eternity..........GIVE IN..........WTF JUST HAPPNED

[Easy]======[Medium]======[Hard]

If you didnt catch that, puttin the slider to the left is easiest, putting it to the right is hardest.

And most of you're lvls will increase faster with harder difficulty.

I'm pretty sure that the slider doesn't have any direct effect on how fast you level because you need to up 10 major skills in order to level and you may be doing more in the way of casting/hacking/blocking when you have to fight an enemy longer but thats the only way I believe the slider effects level.....I may be wrong but like I said I believe this to be true

you have to fight an enemy longer
That is exactlly how. You gain skill increases by each use. If you can kill a creature in 1 hit, then you have to kill more creatures.

But i read heavy/light armour gains lvls by how much damage you receive to it, so if on hardest difficulty you get 6x as much damage, in theory you should lvl it 6x faster, just good luck with standing there takign damage on hardest difficulty

In a sense yes. Weapons, Armour, & Destruction.

As Bradleemilk said, if it takes longer for you to kill them, then they will hit you more, so your Armour Skills will go up.

If it takes more Spells, your Destruction will go up.

Yeah, after I started my new character, I fought Umbra at level 5 on

|--------------------------+-----------------*--------|

difficulty. I think the fight lasted about 25 mins. As long as I kept blocking her I was fine, but if she hit me she messed me up. My birthsign is the Lord so I have the Blood of the North and that helped me out.

My last character I fought her at level 21 and at

|-*------------------------+--------------------------|

difficulty and I killed her in 2 hits. So im betting the difficulty has alot to do with her level.

Greetings, I'm a newbie.

Now that that's out of the way...

I was about level 20 when I faced her to get the sword. I've never messed with the slider bar. She killed me a couple times until I remembered I had a sword that damaged weaponry. A couple smacks with that and she dropped the sword, and attacked me with her fists. Made quick work of her after that. Then I repaired the sword and kept it for myself. Love that sword.

If you're scared of taking hits just get her to like you, speechcraft or charm. Hit her with a power shot, and yield, do this again and again and again.

Actually, the difficulty slider has nothing to do with your level or anyone else's level. All it adjusts is how much damage you deal out and how much damage you receive. At the lowest difficulty, you deal 6x damage and take only 1/6 from enemies; at the highest, it's just the opposite, your enemies deal 6x damage against you, while you feebly do 1/6 normal against them.

That means at the easiest setting you would of course take down even someone like Umbra ridiculously fast.

Question. Any way I can get rid of that dog statuette in my backpack without returning to the shrine? I kept Umbra, and at the moment, it weighs 0, and from what I read, if you return to the statue and say you didn't find the sword (so you could keep it yourself) it adds weight to it.

But back to the question, I'd like to unload that statuette...any ideas? It won't just let me drop it.

Personally, I've always chosen to finish the quest anyways, despite getting a powerful weightless sword. Without finishing it, you can never do all the Daedric quests, and therefore can never do the final Daedric quest. Besides, that's what feather enchantments are for, eh?

Hmm...I didn't know you had to complete all the quests to get the final quest...guess that makes sense. From what I read, the reward for the final quest is pretty nice...a permanent boost to some skills, right?
