Magic gets stuck in the air with Shivering Isles
Since I've installed the Shivering Isles expansion pack I keep getting really annoying glitches; such as magic that gets stuck in the air (doesn't matter what kind of magic) and if I cast magic myself it gets stuck on me too!
Does anyone know how to fix this, or do I just have to wait untill Bethesda gives us a patch for this???

Magic stuck in the air?
I have no such issues myself, and I tend to use blade / blunt weapons and shield, more than magic.
In terms of magic I typically use a 'heal on self' spell, or a targeted fireball attack, but neither 'hangs in the air'.
I'm curious to know what you mean by 'stuck in the air'. Do you see a spell cast, such as a fireball, that simply hovers and sticks in the air without hitting the target, or something else?
Paint a picture with words, if you will.

Litterally; stuck in the air! Lit fires (for example) can still hurt me if I jump in them, but they won't move as usual, same with cast magic. (When I cast a ranged fireball at someone, the place of impact is where the fire will stay in the air.)
(Think of a screenshot of a battle between conjurers and bandits; the magic cast by conjurers will be still in the air. Only with the problem I'm having everything moves but casted magic or lit fires.)

Xbox 360 Patched up?
Very odd, indeed.
I run on the Xbox 360, and I think (not certain) that you do as well. I know that as recently as within the past week I received an update notice when I logged into Xbox Live.
Do you recall the last time you applied an update/patch/fix?
Do you find the game 'slower' than usual lately? If so, I'd suggest clearing the harddrive cache. Who knows, it may be applicable to your situation.

Yup; playing on 360, and I haven't logged onto Xbox Live since I downloaded it on the 27th of March. It's slower too, so I'm just gonna hook it up and see what I get; patch or not. (Patch would be great, because the whole game seems to start crashing down all together now; I can't even open the door in the castle with 'The helpless army' quest!!!

Rrrrright.. I've plugged in my cable and there wasn't any patch for me to download, so I began searching further untill I found this. I've got the same friggin' problem!!! (Heard/Read/Whatever that other people have stumbled upon this very same problem as well!!!)
Any advice, or should I just (could seriously kick Microsoft/Bethesda in the a$$ for not fixing this húúúúúúúúúge problem  ) start ALL OVER AGAIN?!?!?! (Things like this caused me to stop playing Morrowind; this is ridiculous!!!)

Re: Magic gets stuck in the air with Shivering Isles
This happened to me specifically in the town of Split. Magic gets stuck in the air around me when I use chameleon, and gets stuck in the air around a nearby Hulking Scalon and Grummite too.
I haven't noticed this anywhere else but in Split, and I use chameleon a lot. I've also found that anything I do in Split that causes an autosave will lock up the game. I actually can save normally, but no save I make in Split will ever load correctly.
I went so far as to copy my games to a memory module and reformatted the hard drive and reinstall all downloaded content. No combination of reformatting, clearing the game cache and clearing the console cache ( xx rb lb xx ) has helped.
No Autosave means no waiting, no going in houses, and no fast travel. I had to complete the mission with poison apples and cursed hoods.
When I finally did finish the mission in Split, I had to go cross-country to get well away from Split, and had to WALK ( no running ) to avoid a "loading area" lockup. I finally made it back to Cyrodill and have saved, slept, saved again, and tested reloading those games - they're OK.
I used invisibility as I walked along and every 5 or 10 seconds a puff of green magic "smoke" would surround me; luckily I walked through it every time. Inside Split these puffs would stay surrounding me no matter how I moved or where I went. I suspect exiting SI to Cyrodill will get rid of the magic "smoke", but haven't able to test it decisively since it always happened to me in Split and I kept locking up.
I hope never to visit Split again. I really like SI so far though, except for Split, what a mess. I think I've restarted my Xbox 100 times in the last 24 hours trying to finish Split. Sorry to ramble.
Edit: Now the magic "smoke" is happening to me in Fetid Grove, too! This never happened before I visited Split.

Re: Magic gets stuck in the air with Shivering Isles
That's allmost exactly how this all started for me; first in a couple of places, and then it spread all over the Shivering Isles, so to speak.jmcphail wrote:This happened to me specifically in the town of Split. See; that's the problem, and I could be incredibly wrong with this, but since I downloaded every single mod there's out there via xbox live marketplace I'm affraid it's going to cost me more money if I want to reinstall them, and that's just not something I'm willing to do. ..And íf that's the case I think Bethesda or Microsoft are a$$es and should reimburse everyone if there's no way of fixing this. This takes all the fun out of the game!!! :evil:I went so far as to copy my games to a memory module and reformatted the hard drive and reinstall all downloaded content. Almost the same here, only the doors seem to have some real issues now in Cyrodiil; I litterally have to press the A button about a hundred times untill they really open. To open a door I have to first press the A button a ridiculous amount of times (while doing that, the door opens millimeter by millimeter) and when it finally seems open to the eye I have to start bumping into it (because I still can't go through a seemingly open hallway) while pressing the A button a hundred times again. It's even beginning to feel like a goddamn victory when I'm finally able to walk through the damn door into the 'open'.No Autosave means no waiting, no going in houses, and no fast travel. Don't even try: same with magic in Cyrodiil too. Frustrating, isn't it?!?!I used invisibility as I walked along and every 5 or 10 seconds a puff of green magic "smoke" would surround me; luckily I walked through it every time. Don't even be sorry; I'm guessing you just turned your xbox off after having to turn it off due to glitching. (It's probably going to be your new favourite thing to do while 'playing' Oblivion...)I hope never to visit Split again. I really like SI so far though, except for Split, what a mess. I'm sorry to say, but you'll probably have to prepare for the worst. This all sounds really familiar to me. (Shall we kick Microsoft's ass for pushing this expansion through too fast??? )Edit: Now the magic "smoke" is happening to me in Fetid Grove, too! Title Update glitch
FYI:
This glitch isn't happening because of the almost 1GB SI download or from the game itself, as many people assume. It's from the Title Update. I haven't purchased the full SI download, yet, but I have installed the latest update (you know, when you load up the game and it logs you off of XBOX Live because you're game isn't up-to-date), and I get all of the same problems. There are no points to be refunded for this, so we are all S.O.L. I am sure that Bethesda/Microsoft (whoever is responsible) is aware of the problem, and are probably working on a fix (it's bad business to leave your entire client base with a bad impression). We'll probably have to wait for the next update to resolve these issues.

The patch to FIX the SI Bug came out April the 30th , Could be that the game cache is full hold down A button at the start of the game before the words BETHSOFT apear then this will clear the cache.
I have all the patches and i have had no problem , there is a way to uninstall them off your XBOX system but you have to enter some button combo on the SYSTEM BLADE (Dont know what the combo is sorry) and once uninstalled just place the game back in to your xbox and will reinstall all of the patches again
The only major problem i have had is i cant find Shadowmere ive tried everything.
And it is FREE to download the mods again it doesnt charge you anymore Microsoft points

I know; no problem here anymore since the whole thing got patched!
Shadowmere has been gone for a while here too, but I can't say that I miss the beast: horses only slow you down when you're getting attacked on the road, ánd they can mess up a perfectly good stealthy plan if you use fast travel.
