Years In Oblivion
Is there a "max amount" of years allowed to play in Oblivion? Like with Madden you can only play up to 30 seasons in a dynasty, with is alot by the way.
And another question, what year in Oblivion are you currently in? Just curious.
Im still in the year 433.

I doubt there's any such limit in this game. If so, I'd be really upset if there was any preset limitation on how long you can play the game.
That being said, I've pretty much run out of Quests to do, or those that are left are so utterly insignificant to me that I don't care about doing them, and what's a Knight errant to do without Quests?
I'm getting to the point where I may start all over, with a new character and do quests in a different way or order, but I doubt there's any limit on game playing.

Because of the radiant AI, you can make the world as persistent as it can be. The problem is entropy. If you play it too long and kill too many mobs, you can shorten the food supply, and end up causing everyone to kill each other.
If you're playing an especially sinister minded character, try killing off all the deer, sheep, and mudcrabs in the world, and then robbing entire towns of all their money and food. Avoid killing wolves and bears. If you continue with this form of population control, sooner or later, you'll have beggars attacking guards and bandits invading towns and farmsteads. It takes a long time to set up, but you get all the havoc of a long term frenzy spell without the possible bounty. This works especially nicely in Bravil.

It sounds like it would work in theory, but unfortunately, the food respawns. I stole everything from The Feed Bag and a couple days later all the food in the place respawned. I left 3 companions in my empty waterfront house and a couple days later there was 3 oranges on the table for them. Maybe if I hadn't bought the furnishings (which included food) things might have been different, I don't know.
I suppose it would work if you installed a mod that changed the respawn rate from the current 1-3 days and changed it to several months/1 year.

How did you manage to let 3 (or even any) companions in your house? I have never noticed NPC's walking into an owned house. And, if you didn't own it, you couldn't have walked in your self.bamspeedy wrote:It sounds like it would work in theory, but unfortunately, the food respawns. Is this some sort of PC mod thing?

Yeah, it was a mod. I have added several mods with companions. I really like the one that lets you use a spell to recruit anyone you want (if you have good enough relations with them), and you can access any NPC's inventory with the 'companion share' spell. The companions will follow wherever I go, even into houses, then I dismiss them (or tell them 'wait here') when they are in the house.Paladin_Warrior wrote:How did you manage to let 3 (or even any) companions in your house? yeah, they don't seem to want to walk through doors if you've told them to 'wait here', so this helps keep them contained to an area if I leave them in a house. Another good place is the Arboretum in Imperial City if I have like 10+ of them. The area is open so I can see the area and find them easily, but it is enclosed so they can't wander off like what happened when I left them outside a house in the woods.

I don't think it works. I told "adoring fan" to wait on the road outside of Imperial City, and he hasn't moved for an entire year. I don't think they need food to survive, unless certain ones are exempt from the rule. Anyways, my perpetual "Arena Grand Champion" current quest was on Sun's Dawn 8, 3E434, and I am currently on Sun's Dawn 12, 3E435. I knew that was a while ago, just coincidence it was almost exactly a year ago in game. I think that was when you got adoring fan, if not sooner.codex wrote:This really works??? COOOL!!
I've had it going for over a year in the game, at least, can't remember the last time I checked. I still haven't finished the main quest because I've been going around closing all the Oblivion gates I can find (there's a lot of them). I just think it's funny that the guys back at the Cloud Ruler Temple can sit there for a year waiting for me to return with the armor of Tiber Septim.
