No.
None at all.
MMORPGs, multiplayer anything, anything other than Single Player is a bad idea. The game will be more about 'DOOD LOOK AT MY CHAR!!' than actually playing it. It can't be fun, it will never be fun, and so on. It will be a massive list of characters of people boasting their stats with nothing good to it. Elder Scrolls are supposed to be your world, and not a world where you have to whittle at the small things of the game to marginally play it.
Note: I really despise the idea.

Competitive multi-player is a very bad idea. A single player game with on-line elements, like arenas and guilds, I can get behind. Only if they cap on-line levels, though, or have them set to a universal standard.

i wouldnt mind a co-op play, whether its seperate missions (like resistance) or just having a person in your game. split screen would be kinda nice too. hardly any games have co-op

Re: Elder Scrolls Online?
Full MMORPG SERVERS?: HELL no.
Single player game and MMORPG server?: Still no.
Single player and online game modes?: Yes, maybe.
Single Player with arena?: Yeah, that'd work.
Let me put it this way: No one wants a ES MMORPG, simple as that. However, An Arena mode would work, but it would be hard (1 mode you simply load up your characters to fight, but I'm not sure how you could make a mode that's a even playing field....), but, if there were a lot of battlefields (Epic fight to the death at the Battle of Bruma battlefield, anyone?) like the SSB games, and a team VS team mode (Like, you guessed it, the Battle of Bruma
) and/or a Defend-the-base mode like Halo 3 ODST's firefight mode or GOW's one (Battle of Bruma, maybe?
), it would be awesome. Just awesome
However, if there was a mode like Fable's two player, Borderlands multiplayer, Icewind Dale's multiplayer, or countless other multiplayer like them, would be even awesomer. It would be hard, it would be complicated, and there would probably be glitches galore (Then again, it already is.) but it could work, as we've seen from video's, Borderlands seems to work quite well (Can't really tell yet, though) Fable 2's multiplayer is pretty good (Great when a friend comes over) and Icewind Dale's one is pretty perfect. It could work. Just, but it could work.
....
C'mon, don't you won't to work together with 4 friends, helping each other out and saving each other's *^**&?

Most likely it wouldn't work but it would probably be fun to see.
Probably fun in a sadly hilarious way but still fun....

Got my point yet?
It just won't work. What would happen to the console? (sure it ruins gameplay and all that, but it's FUN)
Online games like that are all about being the best and stuff. But if TESV is anything like Oblivion then most people will become the best at some point or another. If they made it way bigger so that you couldn't collect everything, I'd.... just be heartbroken. I love collecting things.
I can't think of anything else to say that hasn't already been said, so....

Re: Elder Scrolls Online?
Any sort of online, NO.
Any sort of multiplayer co-op on console (not sure how that would work on PC). I'd be fine with that. I have four controllers, and I hardly ever get to use them because all games are single player with online now!

NO, but if it absolutely had to be there, maybe some arena with premade characters only.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online?
I completely support a optional TES MMORPG, by optional I mean that you could choose when you want your game to be an MMORPG and when you dont. Such as a option in the Options menu to enable or disable the MMORPG feature.
One thing I'm wondering is how this MMORPG would work, would you be able to see other people's characters running around and be able to interact with them or would it be more of a Fable II type of online play where you only see this annoying floating orb with their gamerpicture (xbox360) in it until you join their "realm" and then you get to see their character.
The first option is the one I'm hoping for, a world where you can interact with other adventurers (or not, if you're anti-social
), one where you can buy and sell items with them (this would add a whole other world to the game by creating new ways to make money and aqcuire items without having to dungeon dive for money, of course, the items bought and sold would have to be compatible with the recipients game, having the proper add-ons and whatnot, and leveled items would have to change to the recipients leveled item stats), get advice and help with quests, complete quests together, compete against each other in an arena setting where you can bet gold or items, compare characters (yes, kestral, I would occasionally enjoy comparing statistics with other players), or simply discuss books and other topics in a library, and hopefully, if they add this to the game, be able to show off to your friends the house you designed and worked hard to be able to afford for yourself.
I can fully say that I would thoroughly enjoy a MMORPG setting in the game, if it were optional and if it were done properly.
EDIT: Whilst adding this MMORPG feature I think it also would quite amazing if they would make it possible for people on consoles such as the Xbox360 to download mods like PC players can. Most likely by looking on sites such as TESNexus and choosing the most popularly downloaded PC mods and creating them for the console. I'd be satisfied if this worked like the downloadable content on the Xbox360 does, only free
.
Note: I'm not sure if this is possible, or even legal (copyrights and legal crap like that), I don't know anything about technical mumbo jumbo so I'm not 100% sure if this could be done, but It's something I thought I would add on here as being another possible advantage of creating a TES MMORPG.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online?
That's where the optional portion comes in to play, if you want to kill the shopkeeper you disable the online feature and kill them, when it's enabled again the shopkeeper either isnt available to you or they are available (not killable) but all the items you looted from them disappear from your inventory. Or they could simply make it so the shopkeepers cant be killed, this would take away from the realism of the game, but it's an option.m@nyt1mes wrote:already found a problem with that, immediately after reading it.Cloud_Nine wrote:One thing I'm wondering is how this MMORPG would work, would you be able to see other people's characters running around and be able to interact with them or would it be more of a Fable II type of online play where you only see this annoying floating orb with their gamerpicture (xbox360) in it until you join their "realm" and then you get to see their character.

My point being that the option for online play should be available to you but able to be enabled and disabled. Of course there's going to be problems with glitches and other stuff whenever you add in an online feature to a game, but that's what updates are for, you release it with solutions to all the foreseeable problems then when one you didnt foresee comes out you add in a solution to that one.

Re: Elder Scrolls Online?
I like the idea if it is done correctly and is optional. I think there should be a much larger game world for it though.....
