His disposition toward me wasn't particularly low or anything. And I can't think of another time when I've heard that in the game. Does this happen often? Do Imperials have something against Bretons? Why does he hate me?
Breton trash!
Breton trash!
I was walking past a guard in Cheydinhal (I think), and as I walk past he mutters "Breton trash."

They're just racist. They call me "imperial brother" sometimes even if they hate me to death.

Re: Breton trash!
Is the racism thing really true, though? I don't recall ever hearing an NPC refer to me in such a derogatory term before. Unless they're telling me to "die, cur!"

Re: Breton trash!
How about M'Raaj-Dar's "Foul-smelling ape..."? He's marginally less rude to other Khajiit, but generally seems to hate all non-Khajiit with a passion. It may be that you're an outsider, but he addresses rather nastily even fellow DB members, which means his disposition is horribly low to begin with.Avian wrote:Is the racism thing really true, though? Re: Breton trash!
I can't stand some of the NPC's racist remarks. I hate when I'm fighting an Imperial with an Elf character and they say "You Elves are all the same - all flesh, and no fury!". Too bad my character doesn't yell back "You humans are all the same - you get pwned by me!"
It gets kind of annoying.

I don't think the comments to the NPC's are things people get annoyed by, or offended. :/
I mean, they aren't bad..
Edit: In the severity way. Like saying the word one letter off of 'wigger'.

Well it really just adds reality to the game, some races have history of discomfort or even hatred for one and other and when forced to live with each other some conflicts are going to emerge, in the game they are only in little insults occassionly

Re: Breton trash!
i had a character which the Imperial guards swore at, but cos he was low level, i bit my tongue and left it. This character didn't improve much in looks or renown for a long time so when he was higher level the guards were still insulting him as much as before
so he drew his sword and pwned that guard and every other one who came in to support their ignorant friend. It was quite satisfying.
My character knew someone in the thieves guild by then who could smooth things over fine-wise, so it was a victimless crime
with regards to the db Khajiit, i think he's just a grumpy old git, he insults you as much when he 'likes' you (just before the incident which you precipitate on orders and which defines the last part of that questline) as when you just meet at the beginning of your time there. I had a tutor in college very much like that, you learn not to take it personally

Re: Breton trash!
Well, M'Raaj-Dar does outright tell you that the only thing keeping him from... disposing... of you is the Five Tenets. So yeah, I think it's more than him just being grumpy, unless you think telling someone what basically amounts to "I'd kill you, but the rules say I can't" is just being grumpy.

Re: Breton trash!
maybe that's the height of DB/khajiiti humour lol
of all the db personalities, i think he's my favourite. It's only the five tenets which prevent me from killing him, too. He's up front and honest, not like the happy clappy breton lady who's always telling me not to get killed. She does my nut in

If anything, I'd think that the Elves would have something against the Imperials, because of the Alessian Rebellion.

Re: Breton trash!
But that was really just against the Ayleids, not the other races although with the Altmer supposably stuck up, they don't seem it, the Bosmer don't seem to emphasize on their wild pact, the Dunmer should have some dislike/hatred towards the imperials because of how they tried to take morrowind then enforce their laws, and the orcs should be unhappy because they were turned from elves into... well orcsKing Acunasti wrote:If anything, I'd think that the Elves would have something against the Imperials, because of the Alessian Rebellion.

But his anti-human dialogue is the only actual dialogue that shows racial views on the Imperials. Besides battle cries, the Imperials are loved by everybody (except for me).

Re: Breton trash!
Actually, Dunmer in Cheydinhal show very, very little love towards Imperials. just ask the owner of the Dark Elf bar near the gate. She makes it obvious Dunmer are more than a bit irritated by Imperials and their holier-than-thou attempts to 'convert' them to church-goers. Although most animosity in Cheydinhal is directed at Ulrich Leland, who gives Bretons everywhere a bad rep all by himself.King Acunasti wrote:Well, Umbacano's different. And then you have Ulene Hlervu, who outright mocks Imperials and their gods, but Ulene is a heretic by her own admission...
