Skeletons make good backpacks.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but if you find a skeleton outside, you can pick up their skulls and carry them around. Now, that's fairly mundane.
However, you can access the skeleton's inventory from the skull, meaning you can dump potions and herbs and junk into the skull, or even weapons if they're too heavy for you, into the skull, and then carry the skull around in front of you.
I just thought this was an interesting discovery, and thought I'd share.

Seems like you actually have to carry the skull in your hand, rather than add it to your inventory, which would be a nuisance.
Still, it may be something interesting to try.
---
I did try it, and it's hard to hold onto the skull (or anything else) when running around. When I was attacked I lost the skull (and the stuff in it).
Oh, damn the encumbrance thing!

Yeah. But it's more convenient than trip after trip to the same dungeon just to haul out your loot.Paladin_Warrior wrote:Seems like you actually have to carry the skull in your hand, rather than add it to your inventory, which would be a nuisance.

And it also makes for a handy container in your anvil house.

Yeah, that's how it is for fast traveling. You drop it, or it gets lost or something.
Here's the thing. If you're outside the start of a dungeon, you see a skelly, grab his head, and plant it by the door. It'll be there when you get back.
When you go into the dungeon, you'll likely find another skelly in there somewhere. Grab his head and carry it with you when you start to get over-encumbered. When you leave the dungeon, grab all the stuff in his head and exit the door. When you pop out on the other side, pick up the skelly skull you left, and deposit all that heavy junk. Now just carry Mr Headbag back to a nearby town, and grab all the stuff in his head before you enter the city. You'll be overweight when you enter, but you can just drop all your stuff on the ground. Nobody'll care if it's there for a few minutes. Go sell the stuff you can carry in one trip, leave, go back to where you dropped your stuff, make as many trips as it takes to sell your stuff. Then take your Skullbag to the next dungeon you do. Rinse repeat.

Well... I got tired of encumberence too
So, as the cheater I am, I downloaded a mod called Purse of Wonders. It's a purse you can keep in your inventory and place things in without getting encumbered. Whenever you need a thing inside, access it and take it out. That way you can carry around as much loot as you want.
I'm not allowed to post links yet, so I can't help if you want the mod. Just google it and you'll find it, eventually.

Encumbrance is what it is. I guess what I'm suggesting is a cheat of sorts, but I didn't really intend for that. I just thought it was something funny/weired that I'd share. Mods that get rid of encumbrance are just cheats.
To be perfectly honest, I just make lots of feather and strength potions. The skull toy's just too inconvenient for me.
I wish there was a kind of backpack or something you could get though. Something that you could store your alchemy tools and ingredients and potions in without weighing you down as much.

Are you sure that doffe92's char isn't female? Or are you saying that no one should carry a purse?!JuggernauT wrote:Dude, you carry around a purse and admit it? I would have never told anyone about that lol. Just playin.doffe92 wrote:I downloaded a mod called Purse of Wonders.
For that matter, didn't it used to be mostly men that carried purses in the "olden days"? Surely women, as mere chattels, shouldn't have been allowed purses?!
Heh, interesting idea. I used Shadowmere like that - knocking him unconscious and packing stuff into him - but it gets to be a pain after a while. You can do the same with some corpses too. o_O

Nah, real men carried their money in the skulls of their foes. For that matter, didn't it used to be mostly men that carried purses in the "olden days"? Surely women, as mere chattels, shouldn't have been allowed purses?!
