Re: thinking about getting arena
Well, it's free, so I say download it and see for yourself. I find it a bit difficult, but I still occasionally play.

Re: thinking about getting arena
I found it very easy!
It's very old and because everything (except the quest-related stuff) is randomly generated, it gets kind of boring. But I played just because I want to complete all TES-games. I wouldn't recommend buying it, but since it's free for download legally at the developer's site, go ahead! It doesn't take too long to complete the main story-line, it's nothing like the later TES-games. It's about eight quest-dungeons.

Hmm... Maybe you might wanna give Daggerfall a shot. It would be more TES-y, in my opinion. If you do go with it, take time to read this. But if you're going to go with Arena, I'm pretty sure some of the links in there are useful.

Information about starting Arena is on the site where you download it too. Be sure to check out the file "dosbox.conf" in your dosbox folder and open it in Notepad. Look for these settings and set them like this:Kestral wrote:Hmm... Maybe you might wanna give Daggerfall a shot. It would be more TES-y, in my opinion. If you do go with it, take time to read this. core=dynamic
cycles=max
cycleup=500
cycledown=500
Then simply save and start the game. I have an old, slow computer and this helped a lot. It'll make the game run more flawlessly.
