I like the dwemer. It would be interesting if they were in the games, or at least some use of their technology.
Ah ha ha ha. Oh, no. Magic is no laughing matter. I am always deadly serious.

Ayleids simply because they're everywhere in the game, all over the map and in the majority of the books ive read, and they were extremely powerful mages
THE MAGE - Prefering to use their extensive knowledge of all things magical, they wield a might more powerful than the sharpest blade.

I'm a big Ayleid fan myself. But the Dwemer were incredible, and I believe that the technology that they possess outweighs magical powers that belong to the Ayleids.Leilah wrote:Ayleids. Those bloody traps. They're brilliant.

Dragons. They are cool, no matter what game they are in. Dragons are always the closest things to gods in any mythology and to meet one of these creatures would be truly awesome!

Re: Your favorite extinct race?
Technically speaking, most of those races are not truly extinct:
Dragons: Tosh Raka, divine leader of the Ka Po Tun, is a dragon. In Mysterious Akavir he is described as "the largest Dragon in the world" which implies that more may exist, in hiding. (The book also says that the old dragons were destroyed in war within Akavir, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they are completely extinct. Regardless, Tosh Raka proves that at least one dragon still exists.)
Dwemer: Yagrum Bagarn still survives, and it is unclear whether the Dwemer are truly extinct, or simply somewhere in the outer realms or something. It is unlikely that they will return, but we cannot know for sure that they have been destroyed. At any rate, until Bagarn dies the Dwemer are survived.
Falmer: The Ice Warriors of Glacier Crawl may be the last survivors of the Falmer, though it is unknown as of now.
Ayleids: May still exist in small tribes deep in the forests of Cyrodiil, though they were not in Oblivion... Most likely gone.
Chimer: As I understand it, they are not extinct by lineage but merely by name.
TBH I'm more interested in the Maormer than any of these races. Also I'd love to learn more about Yokuda and the roots of Redguards. Out of these races though I think my favorite is probably Dragons for the lore value. Dwemer and Falmer would make for more interesting playable races though.

Frost Elves! Never heard of them before but now I wish they were a playable race in TESIV and hopefully they will be playable in TESV!

Re: Your favorite extinct race?
Yagrum Bagarn is, quite literally, the LAST Dwemer. The rest of his race has completely disappeared. So the Dwemer are, for the most part, extinct. Most knowledge of their technology and culture is gone.foodme wrote:dwemer ar not extinct as one has sevived in morrowind and you can meet him. heres the link

I do agree with your Snow Elf statement, but what you said about the Ayleids is completely wrong. The Ayleids were a splinter group of Aldmer, not Altmer. Torval the Pilot, leader of the soon-to-be-Ayleid group of Aldmer, sailed up the Niben during the Merethic Era, before there was any Altmer, Bosmer, Dunmer, Falmer, or Dwemer. The Mer under the command of Torval became the Ayleids after they perchased the City Isles from the beast peoples that used to be there. Therefore, they are not the same as High Elves.

i have seen several instances of a magician "disappearing", but he was never "gone", just hiding.King Acunasti wrote:Yagrum Bagarn is, quite literally, the LAST Dwemer. Re: Your favorite extinct race?
But in Morrowind Vivec states that he and the Chimeri army watched as all of the Dwemer turned to dust around them. If this was magic, the Ayleids would have known this type of spell as well, as they were master mages. They would have used this type of magic to against the slaves rebels during the rise of Men. The Dwemer didn't know magic, only science, enchanting, and various areas of technology.m@nyt1mes wrote:i have seen several instances of a magician "disappearing", but he was never "gone", just hiding.King Acunasti wrote:Yagrum Bagarn is, quite literally, the LAST Dwemer. Re: Your favorite extinct race?
I think that the best out of all is Dragons. It may be my interest in Japanese culture talking, but they are just everywhere. I don't know of a more famous beast. I don't think that there is anything bad about dragons, except that you only get to see one in the game.

Re: Your favorite extinct race?
The Dragons are a complicated race, and they are gone. There are none left. The Avatar of Akatosh is no dragon. It is an Aedra in the form of a dragon. The same goes for the Akaviri Tosh Raka. He is in the form of a dragon, but isn't an actual dragon.
