I really liked the Dark Brotherhood, mostly because it actually made you feel like you were a part of a family instead of just some random piece of 'Meat' as a certain orc would say.

Plus I thought the story was fantastic.

Mage's Guild simply because if it were it against all the others in an all-out war, they'd win

does nobody seem to understand that mages can do everything that all the other classes can do, only they can do it better?

You wanna sneak around? Cast an invisibility spell or a chameleon spell if you plan on doing stuff while hidden.

You wanna keep your health in a fight? Cast a shield spell, or an elemental shield if they're using enchantments or spells, or reflect damage or spells back on them.

There's plenty more examples that im not going to take the time to write here.

The thrill of sneak and assassination (with high difficulty settings of course, else saying the word thrill would mean going sarcastic) is something I want each of my character to feel, with their own personal way, and it's what keeps me playing this game (it's been years!), and the only flaw the Brotherhood has is the uselessness of being a Listener, but that applies to other guilds' top ranks too. -As stated in another topic-

I couldn't excactly tell you which one was my favorite (tie between Arena (not really a faction but whatever), the dark brotherhood, and the thieves guild) but the one I hate the most is the mages guild, even though I enjoy magic.

I would have to choose the Dark Brotherhood, because I love my level 19 Assassin with a passion that is a little unhealthy. But, I can't really speak authoritatively on this subject because I have yet to complete the Fighters Guild quests yet. Still, so far, they aren't anything like the DB quests.

He's the single-most awesome-est character in Vanilla Oblivion! I would've much rather preferred to slaughter the pigs he tells you to slaughter to anyway, they're useless, and the place gets filled up again later on.

I must admit, Lucien is a great character. It's just when he told me to slaughter the sanctuary, I felt like rebelling against him 'cause I thought it was a bit unfair. I think I felt more pain when Lucien dies though.

I like the fighters guild because it's a great place to start you off and they give you free weapons and armour as well as providing tutors and armourers. Not to mention the rewards!

It's been a while since I played Oblivion, but when I played, my favorite was the Thives Guild

I liked the stuff you could do in the mages guild after you got in...

The quests were alright towards the end, but for some reason I just liked the title of Arch-mage better than the rest. I enjoy walking around going "Yeah, thats right, Arch-Mage right here, respect my wisdom and power!"

The questline did need to be a little more epic. The beginning ones were pitiful...

I rather think that your previous spoiler was unecessary with this latest enlightenment .


I tend to prefer the Mages Guild particularly for its influence in governmental affairs. The guild itself is somewhat lacking of any constitution, whatsoever, compared to some of the other guilds, but at least the people that it does have are handy with a spell. I just find it a little bit funny, meself, that they play off killing Mannimarco, one of the most powerful beings on Nirn, as akin to an ordinary day in the life of the Arch-Mage.

I really like the Morag Tong, even though they only appear very briefly in Oblivion.

In Morrowind the dark brotherhood were my favourite enemy and joining them in Ob never sat right with most of my characters. In fact when i found out there was a traitor in the DB i was hoping it was some M-Tong plot to replace the assassins in Cyrodiil with a group which had more honour, integrity (lol), and far better disciplinary/chain of command structure (the whole DB 'cleansing' policy has to be one of the worse own goal ideas any organisation has thought of imo. It's an open invitation to abuse the system even though it might seem cool at first).
It would be nice if you could recruit the Morag Tong agent after doing that adventure, and open up communications with his people, maybe replace the old crone and her psychotic terrorist-like DB cells and put something better in place. I believe the Imperial City deserves no less and i'd have no problem employing any race or creed in the new organisation, be they Nord, Shadowscale, or Cat.
