In the Febuary copy of OXM it has an article about Shivering Isles. Inside and I quote; "Experts will also enjoy the new item-enchanting system that allows for the impressive buffing of any character's gear. It involves harvesting the ingredients from the Pex-dispenser--style bad-guy monoliths that spring up in the wilderness. When you crack their heads open, some will yield a potent ingredient used to improve weapons; another type might drop armor-enchancing goods." Now that might be the matricies but WHY?!?!?
biggest letdown is Dark brotherhood.. At first i was like, WOW.. cool stuff they give me.. (mission bonus'es) but once u killed em all, u only get 500gold for each mission.. only did 2-3missions after that.. BORING.. gonna do em later of course.. no quest must be left not completed.. lol.. now i just gotta figure that stuff out with thifes guild first before i wanna play some more.

If you were disappointed with the Dark Brotherhood, perhaps you should avoid persuing the Thieves' Guild...bombomdk wrote:biggest letdown is Dark brotherhood.. The racial changes were quite horrible to my mind. The Khajiit, the Argonians and the Dunmer are far from what they were in Morrowind. The only way they could crowbar the changes in is to assume that people have adapted to the way of life in Cyrodiil, which is considerably cushier than other lands, but even so each species had significant traits that made them their own and Oblivion completely distorted that.r wrote:On a similar note, I don't like the way the Elven races all have the same voices. The Dark Elves are meant to be cynical and world-weary, like they are in Morrowind, not snobby [&@%!] like the High Elves.bretonbrit wrote:yeah i would have to say the lack of variation in character voices. i've only played oblivion from the elder scrolls series so i've nothing to compare it to, but i read in one game they were all different voices. understably oblivion is so big with SO many people they would hard pressed to record a different one for everybody but still... a little more would be nice.
i was convinced the gray fox was actually hieronymous lex in some completely bizarre twist of plot
98% of forumers say fast travel ruins Oblivion. Put this in your signature if you're one of the 2% who realize it's optional.

For my part it's how the voice of the NPC changes depending on dialogue. This is particularly noticeable for beggars.
All through the dialogue they have one voice, but if you change the subject to Rumours or something, they get a standard class voice.
I also think that a default 15 seconds for a Bound Bow is too little. Haven't been able to figure out a "constant bound item" enchantment either.

1. Voice acting is good, but uneven in places. Especially if you listen to multiple dialog options at the same time. (The Knights of the Nine prompts are often different voices then the originals, for instance.) The real disappointment is that computer voice synthesis has yet to be good enough to do voice overs without requiring a few hundred megabytes of audio files.
(Imagine how much easier and consistent it would be to create new quests if you could just type in the voice text along with some cues. Heck, the NPC's voice and manner of delivery could change based on how much they like you rather then constantly having to shoot for something neutral.)
2. Size of Cyrodiil. I wish they had taken the content and spread it out over about 4x the current land area. It probably would've helped framerates in the outdoors and the wild areas would feel even vaster. There's plenty of content, but it's simply packed too close together in a lot of places.
3. Imperial City feels like a town... I'd have been more impressed with IC if it had a 3rd ring around the outside with more obvious habitation structures. That also would've made the IC feel bigger then the smaller outlying towns.

I dont actualy mind that, i have 100 conjuration and 74 restoration, but apart from that all my magic skills are novice and im still archmage lol.Belthazor wrote:- The fact that there are no requirements to join a guild and rise in ranks (e.g. you can suck at magic and still become archmage)
Speaking of magic the mages guild was a let down, pretty much nothing to do with magic and crap, it was all necromancers, necromancers, necromancers.
Also the leck of harmless benficial jobs, such as mining or cutting tree's, im not saying i would do those hobs but the only way to make money in oblivion is to kill things, many many things.
My worst gripe of all is how there isnt a really wide range of clothing.
I was all excited in the turotial when I saw all the cool clothings on the class pictures. Then I got out in the real world and all I saw were robes, robes, robes.... why not a cool cape like they show on the class pictures that you can wear over your armor.
I think bethesda did too much evening out on things like on the leveled gear, instead of just making it plain fun.

> Like someone else said, you leave the sewers 3 minutes after seeing Emperor Uriel Septim die and everyone in Cyrodill seems to know it. It would have been nice if maybe a week or a month in-game passed, then it would be realistic. I bet Barus text-messaged it to Ocato and Ocato posted it on the offical Cyrodillic News site.
> The Elder Council Chambers consists of Ocato and...nobody else. Ocato's just sitting there all by his lonesome self, and somehow, he and the "non-existant" council can agree on making Martin emperor. At least Arch Mage Traven had some form of a council even though all they did was walk around and talk about stuff

> My worst gripe of all...Martin Septim gets all the credit at the end. Talk to everyone after the MQ, It's Martin this and Martin that. What about your character? After all, wasn't it not your character that plundered into ancient ruins and tombs, went through Oblivion and back many times to get a necklace? All Martin did was read a book and draw on the floor.
> The Blades are supposed to protect the emperor, right? Why then, is Barus, Jaufree, and your character (If he/she is a member of the Blades) are the only ones fighting in Bruma?

That never happend to me. They've always survived and gone back to Cloud Ruler Temple.Kavatch99 wrote: > Baurus and Jauffree always dies, even if they survived Bruma and the final battle, Ocato would just suddenly kill them for no reason.
Another anoying thing was included with the Knights of the Nine plugin, which overwrites all the rumor topics. It bothers me to no end to hear the people on the Shivering Isles talk about the Prophet in Anvil. How do they even know about that? It's on an entirely different plane.

My new biggest letdown is the battle, or lack thereof, at the end of Shivering Isles. What an anticlimax! I expected to be fighting loads of bad guys for ages, instead I bashed in a few Knights with Shadowrend and disgorged my large collection of Hearts of Order into the two obelisks. And Jyggalag went down far too easily, he managed to get me down to 2/3 health without me healing once before I killed him. Very disappointed. I was expecting a massive battle. I had a pile of 25 Hearts of Order because I was thinking 'I bet I'm going to need loads of these to close loads of obelisks at the end'.

You can keep any bound item, and even enchant them, if, and only if you are an expert / master of armorer. You need to repair the items to 125 %, then drop them on the ground...wait a few hours, and you'll get a message indicating the item 'cant' be equipped at this time' (or something like that), and then pick them back up.schkeb wrote:For my part it's how the voice of the NPC changes depending on dialogue. They will be in your inventory, at zero weight and a Daedric claymore with zero weight doing about 31 - 35 hit damage (depending on your level) is a wonderful thing.

you don't have to wait a few hours only until the summoned item timer runs out which could be 10 seconds nor do you have to be that good at being an armorer as long as you get the item damaged you can repair it then drop itPaladin_Warrior wrote:You can keep any bound item, and even enchant them, if, and only if you are an expert / master of armorer. So, you've managed to do this without repairing the items beyond 100 %?Most Honored Listener wrote:you don't have to wait a few hours only until the summoned item timer runs out which could be 10 seconds nor do you have to be that good at being an armorer as long as you get the item damaged you can repair it then drop itPaladin_Warrior wrote:You can keep any bound item, and even enchant them, if, and only if you are an expert / master of armorer. As for waiting only 10 seconds, I'm not sure of that. Actually, I was not thinking of weapons summoned, but rather those you find at Runestones, and they last considerably longer than 10 seconds.
