Question about "special" swords and their power

Post by Knight59 »

I was wondering.... lets just say u get the Umbra Sword is the strength of the sword really determined by what level you get it at??? or is it more based on how high your "Blade" and "Strength" attribute/Skills are? :?

Im at level 19 right now

im mainly wondering about this for swords such as umbra, chillrend, goldbrand, and Shadowrend

I'm pretty sure most 'special' swords are unleveled (like umbra and daedric quest ones) and will be the same strength no matter what level, however if you have a high blade skill then this will of course allow them to excert more damage when attacking as with strength. Hope this is what you were asking :D

See the wiki for details on each sword. Skills doesn't matter, there are only leveled and non-leveled blades; those affected be your level when discovering it and those not. Although some may be considered discovered just by starting the quest or so.

Umbra and Goldbrand are not leveled— you will get the same weapon no matter when your character first obtains them.

Many other weapons, like Chillrend and Debaser, are leveled. The best versions typically max out at Level 25 (most leveled rewards do, though the rewards of the Dark Brotherhood and the Shivering Isles top out at Level 30).
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.

I believe Shadowrend and Duskfang are leveled and they top out at Level 30.

That's correct. See the wiki articles for more info about them.
