not that much, if you get it before your attributes are maxed, it gives you some powers and attributes at max of 115, it also drastically lowers your max level, which is something i get a good feeling out of (higher max levels)Dragour wrote:I own at vampire characters, they're my favorite but one thing I have noticed is that almost (if not) everyone who says vampire characters are stupid or pathetic-have never been any good at them in the first place, so they're being judgemental! This is a good example of what I'm talking about-people who only look at the stats and levels! Being a vampire is a gift when you know how to use it-a curse when you don'tm@nyt1mes wrote:not that much, if you get it before your attributes are maxed, it gives you some powers and attributes at max of 115, it also drastically lowers your max level, which is something i get a good feeling out of (higher max levels)Dragour wrote:I own at vampire characters, they're my favorite but one thing I have noticed is that almost (if not) everyone who says vampire characters are stupid or pathetic-have never been any good at them in the first place, so they're being judgemental! maybe i'm just remembering morrowind's version, but i can't see oblivions as anything but a gift.

What else is there other than stat boosts and a few (relatively) useless powers?Dragour wrote:This is a good example of what I'm talking about-people who only look at the stats and levels! Re: what do you think of vampirism?
That is just like thinking of races though, like nords should never be used as mages and bosmer should never be warrior, well why not? Sure nords won't be as smart as bretons or altmers and bosmers would never be as strong as nords/orcs/red guards, but that's the beauty of Oblivion! Your not restricted!m@nyt1mes wrote:What else is there other than stat boosts and a few (relatively) useless powers?
Re: what do you think of vampirism?
im just saying, i would much rather play a breton assassin than a breton vampire assassin, i dont care for having to dodge sun like the plague, and even the +5s you get to everything at 25% isnt worth it to mw to have to go on a wild scramble to get blood to avoid sun damage.

Use the Imperial Sewers (which should be one of your homes) to enter the Market District during the day, then sprint over to what ever store you need, rest and heal then sprint back.shadow_of_sithis wrote:the only thing i dont like about being a vampire is that its hard to buy things, the sun damage and all that stuff is fine! what shop is open till midnight! they should really put a 7-11 in oblivion!

98% of forumers say fast travel ruins Oblivion. Put this in your signature if you're one of the 2% who realize it's optional.

Re: what do you think of vampirism?
An annoying waste of time if you look at mere statistics, but it's indeed a dark gift if you're a roleplayer who prefers the dark side of things. I admit I do hate the fact that your character starts looking centuries older, though...

Tell me about. Vampires are suppose to look eternally young or at least whatever age they became a vampire at, but in Oblivion, vampires look like "grandpa".Newyn wrote:An annoying waste of time if you look at mere statistics, but it's indeed a dark gift if you're a roleplayer who prefers the dark side of things. Re: what do you think of vampirism?
I've never played a serious vampire character. I've only become a full vamp once, but that was only so I could do the Vampire Cure quest.
I agree. You could in Daggerfall and Morrowind (Bloodmoon), so why not in Oblivion? There are mods for it though, but that doesn't help any console players.Maxx Crowley wrote:I'd rather be a werewolf myself.
I used to play Oblivion, then I took an arrow in the knee.

Re: what do you think of vampirism?
that would be cool, if you could be either one! and like join a certain faction! and there should be a storyline where theres a war between the vampires and the werewolves! that'd be intense! but i would still be vampire just cause im a natural night walker! and i walk in silence not heavy breathing, loud drops of saliva and growling! its not my thing!Codex wrote:I've never played a serious vampire character. Re: what do you think of vampirism?
It's not a waste of time unless you seem to have better things to do perhaps. I look at it as a non-quest event for my character, until/unless you opt to do the Cure For Vampirism and then you've got a few questy-things to do for that. The plug-in Vile Lair is a great place for vampy characters and you can opt to cure yourself there instead of the quest for it.
There are loads of mods to enhance vampire play out there. I've tried a couple so far, some to help with appearance or add quest lines and whatnot.
My pet peeve is the default male vampire face my Imperial female gets after a saved game. I've not been a vampire with any other race as yet so I don't know if it's just an Imperial-thing or what.

Re: what do you think of vampirism?
I like being a vampire but it can be a hassle sometimes when doing long quests. (Waiting and sleeping required ones.) But seriously, great advantages ESPECIALLY at lower levels. Dark elf vampires FTW!!!
