What's the point? The explode on contact with an enemy...
...and diplomacy continues to fail. Their ears fall deaf, and their eyes fall blind, yet they are still not mute. They will not know their errors. Only what they believe themselves. But we... we shall not be silenced.

Only if you use VATS. Not everyone uses it (I don't in my most recent game) to make it more challenging.

Though that would be completely against the whole Fallout idea... I mean, the game is based on the "50s Culture" cliché...

Yeah, but there is an alien crash site west of Greener Pastures Disposal site. You know your close when you pick up the Recon Craft Theta radio signal. It has the body of an alien that looks like the ones at the Mothership. And this isn't the only game aliens showed up in in Fallout. They showed up in 1 and 2 as well.

Dogmeat won't help you much from my experiences, but he's at the Abandoned Car Fort.

What do you mean? He should be ashamed every second of his life. =P

Also, he's pretty much in the middle of the scrapyard, and I think there's some raiders there, but nothing to worry about.

my companions keep getting themselves killed, so i sent dogmeat back to vault 101 for safety. I've gone through Fawkes (vapourised by enclave plasma weapons whilst fighting to get into project purity), and star paladin cross (don't know what happened to her, we were in a fight with raiders and when i looked back she was a pile of body parts). So unless i get the 'puppies' perk, i'm not going to risk any more friendlies.

Another method is to get all of the followers! The give them all Enclave armour and good weapons ^^ oh and get the kids, they can't die and are very good distractions

Hey has anyone noticed that the Scalons of the SI look and fight very similar to the Deathclaws of Fallout3? They have the same body figure and both pounce towards you, while tearing you apart with claws XD

The difference is that scalons are a lot easier to kill at lower levels.

That is because Oblivions level system is very different to Fallout3, on Oblivion the only thing to fear almost at any level is Umbra (under certain circumstances) but on Fallout3, until you become strong... well almost everything is a threat, even at level one there is robots wandering the wastes who shoot you with plasma! (not guns but the ammo)

Yeah, the leveling system with monsters is different. I ran into an overlord at level 5. I had to use my mini-nukes to kill him, cause Xuanlong wasn't doing the trick. Although being level 5 and going toe to toe with a behemoth is always a hoot. It usually involves, mini-nuke, cower, and a lot of bullets being shot, and the usual prayer.

It seems like the Xuanlong never does the trick. IT FALLS APART LIKE IT WAS ACTUALLY MADE IN CHINA!!

It's actually helped me out a lot. It does around 60-70 damage right now at level 13. It's the best of the assault rifle class. But yeah, it does degrade way too fast. I usually use the lever-action rifle now cause I can place my shots with it very well.

It does about 40 for me at half way, but it is hard to keep it in good condition.
