If you could control an element...

Post by Dogmantra »

Which would it be? Also: why?

Which of the Classical "Western" Elements (air, earth, fire, water)?
Air - you could fly and stuff. In-depth explanation, I know.

Which of the Classical "Eastern" Elements (earth, fire, water, wood, metal)?
Metal - most things are made of metal nowadays.

And which of the Periodic Table of Elements (Hydrogen, Helium, Lithium, Beryllium... uhh... here)?
Chromium - It would be hillarious to say "Hey! I have absolute power over Chromium!"... that's it.

How about you guys then?
I would have put a poll, but there would have had to be 124 different options, and only 10 are supported by this primitive board software :P

Fire, metal, and hydrogen.

Flying is for pansies "OOH I CAN FLY" but when you can shoot fire at them making them almost like Icarus' second coming.
Same as Doggy's explanation, you can also make molten metal with my fire ability.
Hydrogen is simple, I can blow you up, the air up, the oceans up, and stars up!

What exactly do you mean by control? Do you mean that you can alter/move/control existing (fire/water/air/metal) or that you can create it to use/control? Cause that is an important aspect to choosing an ability I would think.

Alter already existing stuff of any element, except in the case of fire, where I think it would be too weak if you couldn't create it.

Western - Water. I already know of all the pranks I'll pull with this :D

Eastern - Metal. I could make a skyscraper phallus shaped

Periodic - Silicon. More screwing around with computers and chips

All the abilities I want I would use to make myself (and maybe others) laugh :P

I'm totally changing my Periodic element to Caesium. Caesium is funnier than Chromium.

I don't think controlling Silicon will grant you that ability. >.>

Kestral's right. That's even assuming that pure silicon is used, and not a compound :P

1]Water. When I start throwing tsunamis at you, fire isn't going to do anything.
2]Earth. I could torch anything.
3]Oxygen. Which I would promptly remove from the air. Killing everyone and everything.

Also, how can you torch everything with Earth?

Not modifying them, just ripping them apart :P

I'd still be able to um... de-fuse them :?

Western - Water
Eastern - Air - These two because I want to control weather. Far too many sunny days here.
Periodic table - Magnesium. It burns prettily.

Hmmm... an interesting idea.

Western: Of these four, I would say air. Being able to fly would be a wonderful thing...

Eastern: I would make Earth for this one. I would love to be able to create buildings and many other things out of the Earth herself.

The periodic "elements": In all honestly, this is just silly. Finding any of these "elements" in their pure state is just insane to think about. When was the last time you came across "natural neon"? HOWEVER, if I had to control one it would be mercury. It's one of the few that isn't too mixable, and having an immunity to it would be lovely. Also, forming keys and such out of some that you could carry around would be a handy feature.

I know ;)
The original version of that post said that if I just asked for the "western" elements, then someone (most likely me) would inevitably come out and say Caesium. I pre-empted them.

Western: Air. This includes control over the weather, so anybody who opposes me will be struck by lightning or killed in a tornado. :Twisted Evil:

Eastern: Fire. It can be used for a lot of things, including torching your enemies. :Twisted Evil:

Periodic: Carbon. Everything on Earth that lives is a carbon-based life form, so controlling carbon would give me control over all life on Earth. :Twisted Evil:

On the subject of elements, I was watching a comedian in the Glee Club in Birmingham once, and he mentioned that mercury is poisonous, and someone shouted out "Only in ionic form!". This is the best heckle I have heard to date.
