Bring back the legitimate Khajiit and Argonian races, not the sub-races that can wear boots, helmets, and gloves.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
In Morrowind, Khajiit and Argonian weren't able to wear boots, because they had cat-like/lizard-like feet, and weren't allowed to wear boots. In Oblivion, the Khajiits and Argonians are sub-races that have "normal"-sized feet.

if it really bothers you, don't wear boots. i think it should be possible for those who want it

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
You could always have a larger list of races that includes the legitimate races as well as sub-races. Give the races that can't wear certain items some advantage in another area to make up for it, etc.

That is totally the advantage beast races have in Morrowind.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I'd say better stealth could be one, since they walk on the pads of their feet, along with a slight starting speed (+5, maybe?) advantage, since they have a smaller area that has to hit ground before they take another stride. That's getting really technical, though...Dogmantra wrote:Like looking [&@%!]'?Cactus wrote:Give the races that can't wear certain items some advantage in another area to make up for it, etc.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I'd say add a Co-op option, and bring in crossbows.
I don't want an MMO, but a two player option wouldn't be bad if done right.
Also, add kids, not killable ones, but Fallout type.
I also think I may have an idea on the plot.
The two speculations, Summerset Isle, and Skyrim, have one thing in common.
They are centered around war rumors in Oblivion: Nords fighting the Orcs, Summerset Isle boycotting.
(which leads to war.)
And, if they choose Skyrim, I say they put Dragonstar in too.
And yea, most of you probably know who I am.

That would be neat; maybe a tribe specific to wherever TESV takes place being somewhat sentient. The Raven wrote:I would love to see the Troll or Goblin as a playable race

All the ideas sound great. Honestly, ALL I really want in TESV, is that the swords are properly sheath. Seriously, it annoyed me so much that some of the one handed swords (mostly the good ones) didn't have a sheath
It looked so ridiculous hanging on my waste naked!!
Oh yeah, a couple of others things. I hope they allow us to customize are followers, to give more of a solidarity look. Also, allow the followers (those who own/have) to use horses ... I hated traveling across Tameral on horse back while my followers ran
Another thing too. The leveling of enemies. Is it just me, or was it annoying to see bandits have glass armor when. I hope they keep it consistent. Have the high level armor available at lower levels, but just priced high. Have enemies stay certain levels in different areas of the world, wearing the appropriate armor/weapons.
The small things, for me, can really be bothersome in a game :/

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
with regards to the 'beast races', i agree that the Mw differences were better in appearance to those in Ob; the Ob lore explains it by saying that Cyrodiil beast races are different strains to the Mw ones.
To counter the disadvantage of limited boots and helmets, Khajiiti and Argonians should have other benefits. For example, argonian scales might provide a bit of armour, khajiiti melee attacks might have a higher max damage to reflect their claws, in fact an argonian/khajiit with good hand to hand might do damage more equivalent to someone with a weapon. Some types of Argonian might have a 'spit poison' power, both races might be able to use bite attacks. Of course, specialised Argonian and Khajiiti traders would be able to sell boots and helmets designed for these races. All these things are easily possible, it just depends on how much effort the developers can afford to spend giving this extra layer of non-standard detail for these two races.
The idea that there are different types of cat men and lizard men is ok, so long as we start to see more interesting 'strains'. Maybe you could start off as one of four or five strains of Argonian or Khajiiti if the adventure is set in those lands.
For me, these racial possibilities would be the main thing to look forward to if they set TES5 in Elseweyr or BlackMarsh. And these two locations offer the most imaginative scope for creating cultures never seen before in this game or any other, imo. It would be a really nice touch if humans/elves adventuring in Blackmarsh/Elseweyr felt out of place and 'alien' and that maybe Dunmer were the hated scum scraping around in the mud for a change
I really liked the levelling in Fallout 3, i think they should take a step back towards Mw in the next game. Maybe the difficulty slider could play a part. You don't get exp points in TES like in FO3, but you could raise the difficulty and get better treasure with the enemies, in other words play on greater difficulty for harder fights but better rewards.
I really don't like the loot of the land being determined by my level, game immersion suffers. There's actually nothing wrong with a low level character avoiding a cavern cos its scarily difficult, so long as there are opportunities for me to encounter low level situations. These difficult encounters serve as a challenge you might attempt and flee from many times before you overcome it. Likewise, it's nice at high level to very occasionally meet the odd low level critter and to be reminded that you have come a long way

I always thought that Khajiit and Argonians did HP damage with Hand-to-Hand in Morrowind... they don't though. That would be a perfect way to boost them up, along with adding a little armour bonus.Mattbott wrote:Khajiiti melee attacks might have a higher max damage to reflect their claws,

magic rings - being able to wear one on each finger.
able to wear more than one amulet.
to balance it they could make them only able to have one enchantment each.
armour with gem sockets for greater enchantments. also if the gems are rare it is something worth working for

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I really hope that TES V is gonna be in the past.
Every game is 3E 399 +
Redguard and Battlespire were before 3E 399, sure, but they were spin-off's. Not part of the TES line.
I would soo love to play in the past...
But TES IV's ending almost forced the next game to be sat in the time after the Oblivion Crisis.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
i think that the 1 ring per hand works ok balance wise, they can always add slots by allowing two gauntlets, pauldrons, cloaks, etc.
I liked the way Oblivion simplified Morrowind's game system into a more elegant set of rules so i'd be reluctant to suggest adding features to character generation but
special abilities could be introduced for classes/professions you could add another layer of complexity.
For instance, fighters could do better criticals (maybe x3 instead of x2 or whatever); the enchanter class could allow you to wear more rings; the martial monk strikes with his hands for additional real damage; an archer would get the zoom in ability with marksman straight away and gain an extra perk when they reached 50 skill; the merchant class always gets the best deal possible with his current merc skill/ disposition (ie no need to haggle); for custom classes you could have a list of abilities to choose from based on whether you're magic/stealth/combat based etc etc.
There are many ways to alter character generation without changing the nature of the actual game system itself. They already give out little abilities from quests, standing stones, the orrery etc . So would something like this be too much?

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I like the idea of perks according to classes. Very much so.
The hard part would be custom ones, but they could generate one based on the major skills and attributes, or put it down to a list, and the player chooses which one they want.
I think that would be a great thing, actually.

Re: The Elder Scrolls V Discussion
I would very much like a new system with spells.
So like, Mages gets more spells than Spellswords, but Spellswords are better with weapons.
Warriors = Can't learn spells, but are the best with Weapons. OK at thief skills
Mages = Best with spells, but suck with weapons. Suck at thief skills.
Thieves = Best with stealth, unlocking, assassinating and stuff like that, but suck at close combat with weapons. Can learn a very few spells.
Hybrids = Good at the skills picked, but a Warrior/Mage/Thief would be better.

God no. Worse with spells, sure, like less efficiency, lowered starting skills and so on. Completely unable to learn spells would ruin the game for me.
