Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
I've spent the most of the day with my friends. It was really funny!
Then when I came home I had to talk to another friend of mine. She will come to visit me tomorrow, but there was only one seat left on the plane she was going to take. There is another plane, but it's really early in the morning. The problem was that she couldn't find out how many seats were still available, nothing useful on the website (you could only get a number to someone who listed the times they had open). In the end she had to see how many tickets she could buy (without buing them of course). So if everythign works out, she will come tomorrow. And then I will probably not have time to check in on uesp the next week.
I don't think this post made any sense at all, I'm really tired.

Went to a 4th of July Barbecue at my church. It was poorly planned and poorly executed, and I was on the cleanup crew, so I've been on my feet for the last 4-5 hours in the balmy July weather (Well, it only got as cool as "balmy" around 10:30) :tired:

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Well ive got fragmented memories and partial evidence of last night. My thumb is burnt and blistered ive got black stuff on my right hand my clothes are wet my shoes stink there was a black cat in my pocket my head hurts and according to my cell ive had a conservation with certain people that i dont remember, it will be interesting to see how that situation plays itself out. Im not sure yesterday is what george washington had in mind for remembrance but you cant be sure of anything nowadays.
Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
this always happens to me. whenever i think something hasn't happened before it happens.
e.g. today i thought, i haven't ever had a DIY accident before. then an hour later a drill bit broke (never happened to me before) and i cut my thumb quite deeply. immediately i felt a bit stupid for indulging the thought earlier.

I've just driven to Stansted airport and back. That's literally the only thing remotely interesting that's happened to me today, but now sausage sandwiches and Top Gear beckons. Good times.

My "internal clock" has gotten pretty messed up lately. For example: Today I stayed up until 6 A.M. then slept until 9 A.M. then I went to church and came back around 12 P.M. then I slept until 4 P.M. and I can't sleep at night because I'm not tired since I slept during the day.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Just got back from Cape Cod today. I was visiting my grandmother, and had a barbecue with a family that we are friends with. Didn't see any big fireworks, since the areas were filled up in the morning, but I did see some fireworks off the balcony. Was a good 4th of July weekend.

haha nice. I went around to literally 4 stores searching for Fallout 3. Not ONE of them had it, when before today they've always been overflowing. Am I really that unlucky?TrogdorCronus27 wrote:Played Mass Effect for the first time today, and then waved goodbye to my life for the next few months.

Similar thing happened to me while looking for Fallout 3. Looked around the store, they didn't have any copies of it, not even a spot where it would have been. As I'm walking out the door, I see an employee wheeling out a cart from a back room with literally dozens of the confounded things on it.AEthriel wrote:haha nice. Yes, from what I could deduce the server was faulty and defective and it took a few days to sort it out.
Today I've worked, where I indulged in a small amount of banter, done a lot of carrying things and met the man who owns Sainsburys. £12 tips too, can't be bad, although some of that now resides in the till of Deep Blue because I fancied fish and chips for dinner.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Quite an eventful day at work. Here are the events in order of eventfulness.
1) It was Ladies Day, a bizarre racecourse tradition where women are only allowed in if they're wearing a dress and one of those big flowery hats but men can wear whatever the hell they want. There were some incredibly stupid hats on show.
2) My bar was just a little marquee selling champagne, wine and Pimms. The Pimms came pre-mixed in barrels attached to a draught tap so we could pour it really quickly, but sadly it stopped working because the gas injection system was faulty and defective, and to make matters worse there wasn't a qualified engineer on site to fix it. So we had to tell literally every single person who came to our bar to go to one of the other bars if they decided that it was Pimms o'clock.
3) We made 3 times our target. Rock and roll.
4) A massive fight broke out right in front of our bar - it started as two drunk men having an argument, probably about a woman, then they started punching each other, then their mates all joined in, then a load more people stepped in to try and break it up and ended up in the fight as well. Four people got arrested, one had to go to hospital and one of the security guys got knocked unconscious when someone lamped him round the head with a champagne bottle. I had to stay for ages and got an extra hour's pay because I had to give statements to the old bill, much to the disgust of the people waiting to get a lift home from me who had already signed out.

Re: The 'What happened to you today' thread
Well, where to begin...
I just got back from Vacation and I'm going to make a "What happened to you of the whole of last week" post.
Day 1:
On the first day, we headed off to Miami. It went alright, I bought a Clockwork Orange at the bookstore at LAX (conveniently placed, no?), read a bit of that, and continued to read my Maximum Ride (Maximum Ride, yay~) book until boarding. The flight was alright except that the person by the window pulled the curtain down. D:< Anyway, we landed in Miami. Baggage Claim, got everything except one thing, and, thunderstorm. All baggage claim stopped for an hour and a half, because of lightning. After that, we went into the small overpassy car tunnel to get to the place to rent-a-car. A place I wouldn't let my kid -when I get one- in because the air was tainted with diesel and gasoline. Anyway, we to the rent-a-car place, which wasn't too good either. Smelled like gasoline and diesel, and the building smelled even worse. We got in the car we were renting, drove out of the complex, and went back. To get out of the complex we were stopped by a guy. The guy thought we were returning it, so he RETURNED the CAR we just RENTED. We went back sorted it out, and got out of the place. And to the hotel we go! (Did I mention that it was a suite? I was happy at the end.)
Also, the biggest thing that hit me in Miami: Everyone speaks Spanish. Everyone. You can see a German looking couple, and they'd be conversing in Spanish. The first person to address in Miami addressed us in Spanish. "(Up-side-down question mark)Agua?" "No Agua. No abla Espanol."
Day 2:
Suites are nice. Although, I've been in the suite before. You see, the people we were staying with have a hold all over the country, there is this room for the tip of the Lands of Floridia to the cold-cold lands of Alaskia. They all look the same. Which is good because I particularly love the suites. And my family gets days in them for free. Some timeshares, are pretty awesome. ;) Anywho, we weren't there to marvel and lay in the marvelous marvel-worth suite, we were there to party. No really, to party. We geared up to go to my Uncle's house for a surprise party. My family (and several others) were the surprise. So, we went there, and talked it up. I saw lots of people I didn't know that are loosely related to me and noticed that the place had everything. A valet, 2 bartenders, a tent, a slide show, a DJ, tables set up, a cake, and M&M with my Uncle's face on it. Oh, did I mention the female impersonator? I'll get to that later. Anyways, we were all there for about 2 hours before my Uncle came and dropped in on us, without knowing he was going to drop in on us. :3 His face was priceless. After that, the female impersonator came. At first it seemed as he was a female, but then my mom happily pointed it out, then I was quite fine with it. Thought it was funny, in fact. He (or she?) lip-synced and danced. And went up in the house. I went around getting Coke, keeping the wrath of Cactus in mind. Also, people in Miami can certainly party. I was torn and worn out by 11:30 and I didn't do crap. People were dancing, drinking (let me emphasize, drinking. There was lots of alcohol going around. Jell-O shots anyone?), and chatting. It was the liveliest party I've been too. I didn't see much fireworks, probably because I didn't know. The salsa music was loud, and the laughs and chats a bit louder. Wasn't a bad 4th, though.
Also, also, also, take the concept in mind of a nice house. Air-conditioned, nice beds, good decor, and multiply that by 2. Then you get my uncle's house. Being in my house now makes me feel dirt-poor. And it's a middle of the middle-class abode.
Day 3:
Day 3 was much more lax and tentative than the night before. It was just a family lunch type of thing, with hat and a big tank saying "ALCOHOL" on the side. The bar was double stocked with fancy drinks. There was two things of Smiirnoff, Skyy, and even more different tonics and tequilas. This adds to the emphasis of a nice house, and even more that these people entertain a lot. I was surprised that there was still alcohol left after the night before. Also, the female-impersonator was there, not female-impersonating though. Nice guy. (Gal? I don't know how to put this in a way without sounding strange/offensive to anyone, so anyone knowing the answer tell me.) I was up in the house watching the Stand-Up comedians on on Comedy Central.
Day 4:
This day, was a day that wasn't in the normal vogue. No parties, no alcohol binges (not that I was on any.), no anything. It was my family, and a few cousins going out in the Everglades for a wildlife tour. Now, if it hadn't hit me already, Florida is HOT. Humidity is killer. And it's the only place I know of that where it can by warm and rainy at the same time. It really lowered my liking to the rain. :/ Anyway, it was hot by the Everglades. But I dealt with it. We went on an air-boat cruise. It was pretty nice. I saw a big mother alligator, which on sight I promptly stood up and walked to the other side of the air-boat. Very manly, if I do say so myself. I also saw baby alligators. Then I saw a guy wrestle an alligator. Which was cool. I had ice cream and went back to the hotel and tried the pool out. I just took fancy to floating, which really is something to take fancy to.
Day 5:
This day was a day I was looking forward to. This day, my family and I would trek from Miami to Orlando. A 1 hour trip.
What is in Orlando? Have not the Lands of Floridia yielded enough alcohol and warm weather?
I say nay to thee. This my friends, is the big prize to a year worth's of planning.
We got there mid-day and went into the new Hotel. Now, we expect a crappy room to satisfy our budget needs. 1 bed, 1 pull-out bed, 1 cot. We did not cat that. We got two rooms, connected. One had a bed, a TV, and a bathroom. The other was a living room type of thing. For 139.00/night. That is a deal. The room was nice, and we got a very nice view of Epcot's sphere from the room. Anyways, this day was the day of Michael Jackson's funeral, so you really couldn't turn the TV on without hearing it, so we just layed around until my Uncle, my grandma, and my Uncle's partner came. Which was good. My family (comprising of 4 other than I) went to Epcot late at night taking advantage of our extra hours. We went on Soarin', which is something you all shoud try should any of you go to Disney World. Scratch that, just go to Disney World if you're anywhere in the vicinity.
Day 6:
Day 2 at Disney World. Fun. My family and the extension of the 3 aforementioned went to the Animal Kingdom. I liked it. I went on the rapids, then went on Expedition Everest, which is the Dinsey World variation of the Matterhorn. That is fun. I also went on the Safari thing. I've now seen Elephants (real), lions (real), a variation of Sarenghetti (Spelling?) animals (all real), along with alligators (Real too) within a week's worth of time. Lovely. I liked it.
Day 7:
We went to Hollywood Studios. Went on the Rockin' Roller coaster. The soundtrack is done by Aerosmith, and the thing was partly made by Aerosmith. The ride is fast and fun. I also went on Star Tours which is still a favorite. Then went on the Rockin' Roller coaster 2 more times. Hooray for my parents not wanting to go on and giving me and my brother their fastpass, now each of us had 2, 2 instant rides. No lines. No fuss. After that I went back to the hotel rested, and went out to Epcot. I stayed there until after 12 midnight.
Day 8:
This day I was really worn out. I just played my DS in the hotel room which I didn't mind. I was going to see Cirque du Soleil, La Nouba later that night. When I went to it, I didn't know what to expect. But it was AWESOME. La Nouba is a must-see. My favorite live-performed show, now. I then went to a Cuban restaurant. Then got LEGOs. LEGOs man. LEGOS. &#^! yeah! I honestly felt like a little kid again being in that LEGO shop. That was awesome.
Day 9 (Today):
This morning, I had a nice breakfast. A buffet. 2 Eggs Benedict, 1 hash brown, 3 chocolate Croissants, 1 breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, 3 glasses of Orange Juice, 3 (+me, then +brother and me, then +brother, dad, and me.) pictures with Goofy and 1 with Pluto. We then headed out to Orlando Int'l Airport. I miss Disney World. :/ But, I have LEGOs to use right now. :3
It's also good (somewhat) to be back.
