well, i was playing oblivion, when it started bugging,(it stopped in middle of dialogue, lag etc)and i could hear weird sounds from my X-box's disk drive, like it was getting scratched, then the "the disk is unreadable" message came and i went back to the dashboard, i took the disk out and i saw fresh scratches on the disk, the irritating thing is i finally got my X-box updated, that's when it started happening.
Familiar with the problem?advise?links i can go to?anything is acceptable

Re: Hardware problem?
Two things:
1) Is the 360 lying down?
2) Is there anything on the 360?

Re: Hardware problem?
Does your Xbox 360 look like this? Because in that case, you're screwed.
Ok seriously, take a look at this. Game Disk scratches seem to be quite common.
There's also an article on Wikipedia about it:

Re: Hardware problem?
Yeah,as a post red ring of death sufferer i know about it,i also know about how the disk scratches while moving the x-box,it is in a well ventilated space not lying down, and has nothing on it,basically it is on top of a shelf, and has not moved in over 5 months
Edit-there are'nt enough scratchs to be certain, but i think they are in concentric circles

Lay it down, to begin with. Have it in the tower position scratches the disc.
