Mine is or was the thieves guild, in which I am the Gray Fox.

I like the DB as they have allot of good items and i get a reason to kill people and DB members as well without penalty.
If somethign doesn't look right look at it again.

But if you do that you waste more of you life.

4. Mage's Guild (NECROMANCY FTW)

My favorite quest in the whole game might very well be the Ultimate Heist. It's long, challenging (unless you cheat) and just.. epic. I know a lot of people complain about glitches but I've only had a single glitch with any Thieves Guild quest in my entire history of gameplay, and that was the ring quest in Leyawiin which was easily fixed by waiting for a day and trying again.

Dark Brotherhood is fun, but it just falls apart towards the end, the rewards are terrible making it more rewarding to not finish the questline, and to be honest I hate the last quest along with the underlying plot.

Cactus wrote:I voted Thieves Guild because, of nothing else, I enjoy the entire quest line. Dark Brotherhood flops towards the end and the entire second half is just mindless killing and the story is just boring. I can do that without needing a guild.

I love mages, just not a fan of the quests. Should have been more.. epic, and it just wasn't. Never really pulled me in. I appreciate the guild, I just think the story should have been bigger and to be honest, there were basically no "filler" quests to pad it out. You do the quests to become a full member, and immediately you're faced with Necromancers. That in itself is fine because going to do something as innocent as getting your staff suddenly becomes dangerous. However, there should have been more to it, and the story stretched out more.
Fighter's Guild is just really long and mostly pointless, which is actually a nice break from the other guilds where the story line is thrown in your face rather quickly (as I complained with the MG). The story quests are also spaced out with regular contracts in between. Almost reminds me of Morrowind. Anyway, the problem is that the story COULD be interesting with the competition and everything from Blackwood. It instead comes out stale and just.. boring. In fact, that describes the entire Fighters Guid- stale and boring.

Hence, my love of the Thieves Guild. :D
I think I might just go start up a new game on hard. For that other thread. I'll be a thief. FTW

Why not just sticky this one and make it a poll?

Also: I like the Dark Brotherhood. TES needs more Wes Johnson (and it also needs Ellen McLain, but that's a completely different story). Yes, I did base my favourite on one of my favourite voice actors.

I was considering it anyway, but since you mention it, I believe I shall. Before I add the poll, what choices should I put in? Just the vanilla stuff (MG, DB, TG, FG) or should I add in KotN and whatnot as well?

Pretty much just the 'guilds' that you can advance in, like in the SI there is only one and it's more of a main story rather than a guild. So really just the main guilds (perhaps even the arena) and maybe consider Kotn, since it was a plugin thing that added a new faction/guild

Order of the Stick ftw!!! :D

Oh wait this is the Oblivion forum

I actually prefer KotN over the DB. Holy paladin beats silent assassin ;).

Somewhere in Vilverin
Holy Paladin: "For the emperor!!"
Bandit: "He's dead -.-"
Holy Paladin: "Oh wait, eh...."
Bandit: "WTF you were about to kill me. I think I'll just pick up my mace again and bash your skull with it.
Holy Paladin: [is thinking]
Bandit: [picks up mace and charges towards Holy Paladin]
Holy Paladin: "Ah, I got one. For the old, ugly, mysterious, I do not know his name Prophet from Anvil!"
Bandit: [dies]
Silent Assassin: "Ah, dear Paladin. I see you've killed all the Bandits in this ruin. You've shown that you're skilled. But yet, you do not know my name, nor where I am right now. Because I'm about to shoot an arrow in your throat."
Holy Paladin: [casts Holy Shield of Throat Protection]
Silent Assassin: "Oh crap."
Holy Paladin: [casts Holy Beacon of Light That Fills the Entire Dungeon]
Silent Assassin: "Wait, where has the darkness gone too..."
Holy Paladin: "So there you are."
Silent Assassin: [draws silver shortsword]
Holy Paladin: [draws Holy Claymore of Holy Shock Damage]
Silent Assassin: [charges forward]
Holy Paladin: [holds his sword right in front of him]
Silent Assassin: [runs right into the sword, tries to hit the Holy Paladin but his sword is too short, then gets electrocuted and dies]
Holy Paladin: "Pwned."

'Nuff said.

Anyway, My favorite faction... favorite faction... ...

Dark Brotherhood. They creep me out, Lucien is probably the most unique character, and... The rest of the guilds had extremely annoying parts of the questlines, like the fighter's guild: all of it, Mage's guild... the same, and the Thieves' guild questline: I did NOT enjoy that final quest. In the DB, you learned something new after every kill, and met an assortment of awesome characters, killed a few even.

But then again... The prophet was awesome too. Still, I'm afraid DB takes my vote.. Again.

DB, definitely but Thieves guild as a close second. The Final Heist is definitely the best quest in the game but in general I preferred the DB quests, even if the story was a bit...annoying.
But really, Whodunit, most entertaining quest I've ever done.

The Final Heist is great :D. But I think I still prefer Unearthing Mehrunes Razor (Mehrunes Razor), Umaril the Unfeathered (Knights of the Nine), Wisdom of the Ages (Knights of the Nine) and Great Gate (Main Quest).

Unearthing Mehrunes Razor is really fun with an assassin character. Lots of freerunning, lots of backstabbing... for example: the first time you enter that big city, I managed to kill everyone without being discovered once. I remember a Dark Elf descending some stairs and me jumping down from the cliff and killing him with my dagger.

Poll Added

Post by Cactus »

I added in the poll.. a bit late. Sorry guys. The options are the base four from Vanillia as well as KotN. I also made it so you can change your vote, if you wish. New feature of the forums.

Hmm, KotN seems such a small faction to add doesn't it? Its such a small quest considering the other factions' missions.

[offtopic]The new polling thing is quite nice. I like how you can change your vote. And it says below it "You get 1 vote." Hmmm, you don't say? One vote, thats not normal at all... :P lol[/offtopic]

DB,

You can't beat Whodunit.

Nah, The Ultimate Heist does but the whole of the DB questline is better than the whole TG quest line

Spoiler:
I was a bit disappointed by the Whodunit quest. On my first playthrough, I wanted to let all the victims kill each other.
But you've got to kill 2-3 victims yourself. So I think the Whodunit quest is very overrated. There aren't that many possiblities either. You can kill everyone yourself or convince everyone to murder someone else. That's it. You can't fake somebody's death and make it look like an accident (kick someone of the stairs, kill someone in the basement) or make them really angry towards each other (they have opinions about each other but you can't make them shout at each other, for example).
It's a fun quest and using Poisoned Apples etc. is great, but it's definitely not better (IMO) than Unearthing Mehrunes Razor, Umaril the Unfeathered, the Ultimate Heist, the Great Gate, etc.

I agree. Another epic problem I had with that quest was...
Spoiler:
...that everyone seems to know who was killed instantly. I'd have liked smarter AI that allows them to "find" the bodies or question where the person is if they were hidden well. Too much scripting, I say. I also "liked" how it barely mattered at all what you did. I only changed kill-orders to see the reactions of the last person alive. Using dialogue to trick them all into killing each other would have been really awesome, as well. That quest had the potential to be truly awesome, but it fell short. That being said, I still love it. :P

My favourite is probably the DB but I like the Thieves Guild aswell. The Fighters Guild is good but to many Trolls and Ogres and the final quest wasn't massivly epic. The Mages Guild isn't very good because I just don't find it massivly fun.
