Yes, I saw that, and I will consider that if something goes wrong with the current setup...actually, I think that would be the easiest solution, I'll think about it...

Well at this point elevation isnt going to matter. Raising it higher wont make a difference. Ill have to think of something else.

Ace's idea isnt bad. I wouldnt do it, but i will admit i have a nasty case of mcguyver syndrome. I make things work with what i have.

And for the record you can buy a pc fan for $2. That thing costs $12. If you wanted to go that route you could have a ridiculous 6 fan setup and even make it with adjustable fan speeds with a variable resistor for the same cost if you do the work yourself. But again, i am just weird like that. When my choke broke on my truck i managed to start it with a rag, piece of string, and my pocket knife.

Im also cheap as hell, ladies line up.

Well, if I can buy one for $2, I might go get one just to see if it would work.

But PC fans don't plug into a USB, those have a small three pin connector which connect to motherboards, or a four pin adapter that plugs in directly to the PSU. PC fans may be cheaper, but you can't connect them directly to the 360.

Well, I'm not cheap so I might buy a 360 fan.

If youre not handy with tools then you shouldnt go that route you should just do like ace is talking about. I just wanted to give you some options.

This is really interesting i almost wish i had an overheating xbox to work on. I think at your point i would install "boots" in the corners, port it, then put a pc fan where its ported.

Also, don't buy the white fan that uses the 360's power supply. That one can damage your 360 permanently.

How? Is there another fan designed specifically for the 360 that won't damage it?

best way to keep an xbox cool is to put it outside, in the rain :D

That often has the unwanted side effect of electrocution. I'd advise against it.

Yes, Nyko released a new one with it's own power source. I forgot what it's called, but the part that touches the Xbox is a light green and the fan compartment is a bit see-through. This fan also comes with a temperature sensor, but don't open up your 360, it'll void the warranty.

Ok, Nyko is a brand I trust, I had a turbo controller for my Gamecube made by Nyko once, it was very handy in Super Mario Party. My Xbox warranty is already expired, because it's old.

Well, my Xbox broke, when I turn it on it doesn't do anything (no light show on the rings) so I sent it in, somehow it's under warranty, so I'll be getting a new one in a couple of weeks.

Sorry about the double-post. No worries.

I think the newer versions last longer, which is hopefully the kind that my replacement unit will be.

My first 360 lasted about a year and a half. I've had it's replacement three or four months and I've already had the red ring on it and then it shuts itself off.

I hear the elites last longer because they have better chipsets or something like that.

Yes, my old elite got the RROD around this time last year. I believe that the Xbox 360 is such an amazingly good console that it burns out after a while.

Like... stars?

Well, I've had RROD twice, both times we had a warranty. I'm keeping mine suspended st the moment, using some old and un-played games...(Like Fable 2  ) just in case it decides to overheat. Although, it may have something to do with being stored in a closed entertainment center... :?

...and diplomacy continues to fail. Their ears fall deaf, and their eyes fall blind, yet they are still not mute. They will not know their errors. Only what they believe themselves. But we... we shall not be silenced.

That's how I got my first RROD, I kept it in this tiny little shelf in a tiny little room for a while. There were a few signs of the coming death of my first 360 but I couldn't interpret them. Sometimes in Halo 3 the enitre screen would be like...I turned on night-vision except its red, and it GTA IV I could see this huge dome made of lines in the sky and the graphics were all grainy. I was so dumb I thought the TV was the problem :| .
