I think I read that interview. It was like listening to Morrowhiners, except he was comparing Morrowind to Daggerfall instead of Oblivion to Morrowind.Kestral wrote:I read an interview about God, or Todd Howard, that said something on this.

Since its a brand new game, they might go the path of multiple areas like in pokemon silver where halfway through the game you get a new area, or something like that. Like in fallout 3 where the enclave is released into the capital wasteland and much of the landscape is changed. Or even like Oblivion when the gates are all opened.
I really really doubt that the whole map would be there (even though it would be very cool). Consoles would not be able to hold all that info, even with blueray.
It could be that new areas are released in DLCs. FO3 has shown Bethesda that game releases can be greatly supplemented by downloadable content and with all the new players roped in by Fallout, the consumer base will be bigger than ever.

you know, i actually hope tes V DOESN'T cover all of tamriel
to be honest, i would take away from the mystery of the world, puttung everything would mean there would be nothing left to wonder about, and the entire world would be set in stone
as well as that, i much prefer a smaller, more detailed world ala fallout 3 (although maybe a little bigger for tes)
if bethesda only do one region, they can focus and explore that one culture and style completely, and make it perfect
also, if it featured all of tamriel, it would probably be the last game in the series
so i dont just think that it would be too big for computers or consoles, or too glitchy, or too bland, or too unfocused, or too difficult to make
i want to COMPLETELY explore and immerse my self in just ONE region
as well as that, i dont want a focus on making the game huge to take away at all from the gameplay, in fact i would much prefer the opposite, in a game world (hopefully only slightly) smaller than oblivions, but with the best gameplay of any rpg, ever
of course, best case scenario is that they actually make the game world a bit bigger than oblivions, maybe 2 or 2.5 times bigger, and really focus on maing it ultra-fun and detailed
i want way more npc's, and way bigger cities, at least the size of an assassins creed city DISTRICT
taking clues from fallout 3, there will probably be a whole lot of generic npc's, and a bunch of proper full npc characters
also, when it comes to npc interaction, i would love something along the lines of mass effect
i want proper character interaction, a proper living world, and a proper functioning society
maybe they could utilise at least some of the technology from that new lionhead thingy with the little kid, and something along the lines of what you get in stalker, although obviously un-retardated so as too be fun to play
i also need animations and collision deteicting that makes it look cinematic, like assassins creed
i think tes could take a few things from assassins creed
i like the concept of the buttons specifically controlling sections of the body rather than simple functions, and that concept is so perfectly suited to rpg's. i think bethesda should take away jumping, and give us free running and acrobatics like in mirrors edge
also, loads of actual stealth mechanics, and a proper combat engine
i take it for granted that we will get excellent graphics and proper, cinematic animation
i think that tes V could easily revolutionise not just rpg's, but fps's as well if bethesda puts in the effort

lol i'm sure they'll try their best
I don't think they'll move far from the tried and tested formula, one province, one main plot, secondary guild plots etc same game system, same button functions but tweaked here and there
more npcs would be very good (they don't all have to have backgrounds and be quest givers), i think that fallout3 is a good indication of how they'll populate the settlements with non player characters and inhabitants. I can't see TES populated as much as assassins creed tho

i don't mind it being different again (like Ob is different to Mw) so long as its basically the same quality. There are a lot of things in FO3 which are very much from TES so one can get a good idea of what the TES gaming system does even when its applied to a different universe with different character generation (eg s.p.e.c.i.a.l) and game rules mechanics (eg experience points as rewards)
It was fun having to learn how to play Oblivion at first and then seeing how Ob was the same as and different to Morrowind
Nobody would think going totally back to Mw would be a good idea, no matter how much they liked it compared to Ob (i could be wrong..)
I want the same fundamental experience but to for it to feel like its totally new.
TES5 is going to be called 'Pirate Isles' btw

Ryan wishes he had a stick made out of fishies to give to you. Sadly, he does not.
Got that the wrong way round. A console will never be more powerful than a PC... where do u think a consoles hardware comes from, what do you think console games are developed on... Consoles are out of date the moment they hit the shelves. rant overThe Box wrote:At the very least, you'll be looking at insanely powerful consoles (possibly computers too).
By the way im new here. Been coming to uesp for ages to "assist" my elder scrolls gameing experience, but never realy been on the forums, so hello everyone
just came here to see if there was much news on the next elder scrolls.

It doesn't work like that.nyk45 wrote:Oops, haha sorry didn't get the joke.Dogmantra wrote:So do I. I was joking about how it should be named Summurset Isles, but set in Black Marsh :P
ZeniMax bought id Software (Doom series). Would that mean more games being done without TES V even being on the list? :(
id is a developer.
Bethesda is a developer, and a publisher.
ZeniMax owns id and Bethesda.
id makes their own games, sends them to Bethesda for publishing.
Bethesda makes their own games, usually publishes their own in America. (They get someone like Ubisoft to publish it in Europe)
Since only Bethesda owns the franchise the Elder Scrolls, unless if they have a clean plate of developing things to tackle, they can only work on ES:V.
So no, ES:V should not be delayed.

Nah, they only got Ubi for Oblivion.
And yes, I know that.
However, the exchange of ideas will take time. They have their hands full with Wet, Rogue Agent and Brink, besides having to keep an eye on FO:NV. It's probable they aren't working full throttle on TES V just yet, and will only do so next year or even after that. In the mean time, an alliciating project that would involve a little merging work from the two could delay the next Elder Scrolls installment even further.
And yes, I know that.
