Do you have any Obsessive-Compulsions?

Post by Dogmantra »

Well, do you?
I certainly do.

I am, as some of you might know, a bit of a Punctuation Policeman. What you probably don't know is that I feel the need to correct any bad grammar or incorrect use of words. Someone's used "your" when they mean "you're", and I'm just walking past? I'll point it out.

Another compulsion I have is for everything in my space to be positioned by me. If someone else moves something, I'll move it back to exactly where it was. I can even then go on to move it myself to where they moved it, but that's okay.

My final compulsion is that if I rub one eye, or itch one side of my face, I have to rub the other/itch the opposite side, else it just feels weird.

So, do any of you share these, or have any of your own?

I don't have any real ones that I can think of. Mostly I start doing rather compulsive stuff when I'm bored or have the time.
For example, when playing Rose I usually end up organizing all of my inventory according to what looks best, even if it's just trash I'm gonna sell.
When it comes to cheese, or just anything, in one of those funny little tubes it really annoys me when people squeeze it on the middle. I don't have to fix it but if I'm gonna use it too it feels horrible not to.
Sorting completely irrelevant things is something I'll do when bored. I once had this day-by-day calender with pics from the LotR movies, I saved all the pics and at one point I sorted all of them chronologically by the movies. I even thought it was fun. o.O

i have an urge to say what i am thinking at the most inappropriate times.

for example.

history teacher: "why did the catholic church find the new scientific ideas so threatening?"

me: "because it makes them look like idiots."

i wasnt the one being asked...
i have done a lot worse than that....

I can't stand it. I just HAVE to say that's what she said if they're good times. I can't hold it in. Even around my parents and teachers. For example.
Mom (talking to my brother while he's driving and parking): Now just put it all the way through :Twisted Evil:

Another example-

Math teacher (he's getting mad at the overhead for not working): I've been playing around with this baby too much that she's getting pretty hot :Twisted Evil:

I have a few about stacking things:
1 - If they are the same sizes, they MUST be perfectly aligned.
2 - If they aren't, then the largest goes to the bottom, smallest to top, etc.
3 - The only exception is if they are arranged in the shape of something [castle, pyramid, etc.] and even then the lines MUST be straight.

I CANNOT stand people who type 'wut' or 'wat' instead of 'what' It annoys me SO immensely, I've actually banned people from my forum for it. It's just that annoying.

Two things:

1. Whenever I walk into my house, I always, as a reflex, close and lock it, not bad most of the time, but I have locked my parents outside quite a few times

Complete accident though.... :Twisted Evil:

2. similar thing with the lights in my Bathroom and toilet, soon as I leave, reflex kicks in, and their off (Or on, in the cases where I didn't switch them on in the first place  )

Can't think of much else... (Rearranges room so everything in it points north)

Nothing at all.... :P

wow, i do that exact face/eye rubbing/scratching thing
same with pretty much everyhting, i have to do it on the other side or it just feels weird
like adjusting my cuffs, or cracking my knuckles (i have to do all of them every time) or sometimes just walking, i hate getting out of sync with my steps, or stepping more times on one foot than the other
also, i hate stepping on cracks and shadows, or the edges of shadows, if i do then the other foot needs to step on them as well
also, when other people move my stuff, i have to move it again, even if it doesnt make a difference
also, i need to straighten my stuff, or organise it from largest to smallest, or stack it up from largest to smallest, things like my school books on my desk and stuff like that
its the same when i sleep, i need to move BOTH sides of my bedsheets, and i need to be perfectly in the middle of my bed, and my pillow, and my sheets.
i do other really small stuff, and i dont think i have even mild ocd, because i can ignore my wierd habits, and i do ignore them all the time
even if i do have it, it doesnt really bother me. all great genius's are slightly crazy (im pretty sure i suffer from narcissistic personality disorder, and delusions of grandeur)

Let's see...

When I misspell a word, even if it's just one letter, I NEED to erase the whole word.

I also have that itch-one-side-must-itch-other-side thing.

I make lists even when I don't mean to.

I constantly straighten things out. Hell, if my hands are full I'll drop everything if I see something out of line.

EDIT: See what I mean by making lists on accident?

Well, when I'm stacking things, they have to be in order. I like to organize video game inventories too... Also, I cant watch other people eat if I'm not eating. It bothers me immensly... I think it's pretty disgusting.

I can't remember anything right now. Except that I must eat cinnamon buns outside to inside. I've never eaten a cinnamon bun from one side to the other, I have to unroll them.

These.

This.

Definitely this.
Dark Lord wrote:i forgot to mention i pull leaves off trees and rip them apart into tiny little pieces....
Definitely this, but with more than just leaves. If I'm sitting in a field of grass, I will annihilate it blade by blade, and God have mercy if there are leaves fallen in the grass as well. :Twisted Evil:

When walking up or down stairs, I always step on the first stair with my right foot, and try to make it so that I step off the stairs with my right foot. Whenever I'm walking over a crack, I use my right foot. If the type of floor I'm walking on changes, I step on the new floor type with my right foot.

In Fable 2, I cannot have my character wearing items dyed multiple colors. If I dye my hat black, I dye everything black, even my hair. Of course, this might just be because I don't want to spend hours meta-customizing the fine details of my appearance that I'll never actually see.

I'm decidedly un-obsessive about simple organization. Sure, I might reorder some stuff in games so it looks better, or is easier to access, but IRL, I can't organize to save my soul.

I do this, but in handwriting. If I mis-spell a handwritted word, or one of the letters looks a bit funny, it will be crossed out and re-written in its entirety.

I'm usually a completionist in games, but not all of the time I guess. I'll go for 100 percent in say, Zelda, but if there's one thing that I just can't do, I'll leave it alone.

Yeah, same here, for some reason regardless of the size of the written word I must erase it all, even if it's much faster clicking at the start then typing the one letter

Yup, almost every single game I have become addicted to I have made some type of list, like for Jade Cocoon2 I always made a list of the beasts I planned on having and what element they were placed on, their abilities and attacks... everything
But if some people remember I also made a list on Oblivion, a list of every location and what's huntable in it ^^ It's slight boredem with a touch of game love (sound bad?)

I can't read a book more than once, unless it's a book I found really good.
Else, i don't. Mainly because I have already read the book. Nothing new.
I won't feel the "God, what happens now?" because i already know what's going to happen.
