Loot question

Post by linda »

I have a question about how the game loads loot in containers in Oblivion...

I remember that in Morrowind, items were determined in chests when you loaded the room. In other words, if you wanted to try your luck at getting different things in a chest, you had to reload a save game from before you loaded the room/area.

So now I am thinking, maybe I shouldn't go into all of the buildings in Oblivion until my level is higher, so that items in containers hold better things when I eventually get there. What do you all think?

I think in Oblivion loot is randomly determined when you load a room. If you are in a room, and you don't like the loot, just reload the save game.
Also I think containers are reset in Oblivion, so you can loot everything you want at lower levels, at higher levels you'll find other stuff in containers you have already looted. So no point in not looting any containers while you're still a low-lever character :)

Different monsters also load when you load rooms...useful if you want to cherry pick your fights at a low level. Better chests usually have guardians. Most run of the mill chests that are unguarded usually have garbage at high as well as low levels, so be prepared for multiple battles if you find a chest spawning the full range of goodies, -- or make sure you have a good sneak capability.

Just wondering, the containers reset, but do other things in the zone reset as well? Say I clean off the shelves, does that come back?
“Fine day” said the young man.

“Gods!” hollered Zaki, sending the young man flying with a well-placed punch, and dashing away.

I think that they proved this three years ago.

You know, the last time that someone actually wrote in this thread!
Baurus: Our job is to get the Emperor out of situations like this. Though I'll admit, things aren't going exactly to plan.

Casandra: At the moment, the deadliest weapon at my disposal is a goblin's head on a stick. I'd be worried if this was the plan.
