Good points, both bretonbrit and ace  I much rather have the nighteye lesser power of the khajiit, or the waterbreathing and poison/disease resitance of the argonian.

Yeah, but we dont get any good answer why :? The Imperials must be the least "gifted" race in the game.

Well, if you are well trained, have a good class, and attribute any race can be good. You just have to ahve high skills and attributes.

What do you mean: least gifted :?

[Imperials...]

Exactly. Lesser/greater powers are poor, a cheap charm, and don't really have any special bonuses.

Dark Elves? - summon ghost useful esp at low levels, 75% res fire - awesome, easily made 100% making Oblivion trips a piece of [&@%!]! Start with +10 in destruction and blade! +5 in marksman.

Quite like Redguards, but not really played one yet...

Bretons, excellent magic bonuses

Khajiit, excellent stealth and powers bonuses

Imperial why?

Post by SeekerDK »

I'm puzzled.

Why is it that Imperial are good. Most human-like?

They gain a +10 on personality which is by far the least useful attribute and further more a -10 on Agility and Speed/Willpower which is kinda bad, depending on class.

Skills are no better
+10 Mercantile and Speechcraft
+5 Blade, Blunt, Hand to Hand, and Heavy Armor
Both Mercantile and Speechcraft are rather useless and in any case easily trained.
Blade, Blunt and Hand to Hand is kind off a waste, since you probably will only be using the one. Heavy is OK thou, if you intend to use it.

And Traits???:
- Absorb Fatigue (daily: 100 pt. Touch)
- Charm (daily: 30 pt. Touch)
I mean come on.

Worst race ever!

Honestly i agree, Imperials are pretty much the most useless race. However i like the way Imperials look. Nothing more kewl than an Imperial in Ebony gear, shield, waraxe in hand and their long flowing hair hanging out (no homo  )
Only the dead have seen the end of war.

I just started a new character, an Imperial mage (not kidding), just to see how good he can be. And actually, he doesn't seem to bad. Okey, he starts out with some pretty useless bonuses, but that just makes it possible to become a great warmage (custom class) in later levels, right. My major skills are: Armorer, alchemy, block, destruction, alteration, conjuration and illusion.

To me, the bonuses aren't as important. When i started playing, I would rather be a human than a lizard, cat, or a purple elf. I tried wood elf but he looked awful. Altmer are ok. Orcs are green
I don't use alot of magic( rules out breton)
Redguards are cool, but imperials are ( in my opinion) more knightly and honorable. Most Redguards have afros and look like hippies
Dunmer look evil, and I wasn,t surprised that Raynil Dralas was Dunmer.

But, your race is ( or should ) based on what kind Of character you want to be

Well, this just goes to prove that people are more interested in the appearances of their digital alter-ego, then the benefits it would provide them in the game.

Thou from a RPG perspective, it is of cause nice to be a member of the generally most likable race in Tamriel, even thou the actual effect of this is greatly overrated.

I totally agree with SeekerDK. Imperials are useless. Attribute and skill bonuses are terrible for any kind of character.

If I may quote a fellow who favors Imperial
Voice of the Emperor. Star of the West. You actually look normal in armor. Imperials hold a high place in society. All guards are imperial.
MARTIN is Imperial. :D
Star of the west and Voice of the emperor are both useless. Maybe (MAYBE) they wouldn't be if they weren't just "once a day." Also, might I point out Oblivion takes place in Cyrodiil, the home of the imperial? In Morrowind, all the guards were Dunmer. Most people were. If they made a TES game in Elsweyr, you could expect to see large amounts of Khajiit.

Why choose Imperial? Is you wanted a warrior, an Orc, a Nord or a Redguard are better choices. Or a mage? Dunmer (if you wanted a more battlemage type character), Altmer and Breton are there. An assassin/thief? Bosmer or Khajiit are good choices. Argonians can be useful, as well.

But enough about the imperial. I chose Khajiit, since I was leaning towards a thief. Bosmer are a better choice for a combat-thief, as they recieve a nice Marksman bonus. I favored the Khajiit for it's jumping and running abilities, though. Either one would make an excellent thief.

Yes. I tend to go towards Redguard, because in the end they can become one of the most balanced races if you use them correctly...but forgetting them in the poll...does seem a bit racist..(jk)

But yeah, Spellsword Redguard with either warrior or the atronach birthsign is a good way to go from what ive used.
