Good places to sell valuable loot?
Good places to sell valuable loot?
Hi. I've only been playing Morrowind for a few weeks, but I've run into a problem.
I keep looting really valuable weapons and armour from monsters I kill, but I can't find NPCs anywhere with enough gold to buy them off me for a reasonable price. Am I missing something?
I've primarily explored only the south side of Morrowind, with only occasional expeditions into the north.

Yes, you are missing something.
Go to Caldera (Mages Guild will bring you there) and look for Ghorak Manor. Go upstairs and Creeper awaits you. He will give you full price for your valuable things. If it's apparel of weapons, make sure it's in full shape before you visit him. Go to an armorer or a smith before, of mend it yourself.
Later on: SWEEP things. Sell expensives above 5000, buy back things from him untill your expences are just under 5000. Sell! And this is the trick: wait for 24 hours. He will have available 5000 again. And than sell the things back you bought to match the 5000!

Places to sell stuff for big $
An even better option is to buy Tribunal (if you don't already have it) and go there to sell sell stuff. I am usually able to sell between 40-50k worth of stuff per trip (in 10k to 17k chunks).
The only way I have been able to sell individual items >20k is to enchant a REALLY expensive item first. Sometimes when you do this you can get the Enchanter to retain the $ you pay him (quicksave 1st and reload until it works) and then sell him some REALLY expensive items. I think my record has been 170k (Daedric Cresent or something like that) in one sale (I have LOTS of expensive Constant Effect magic items that I use).

Doogy, I don't agree. I know the sellers max there is much higher than 5000, but you get much less in return than the stuff is worth. And that is a waste, even when you are ten times millionaire.
When you can use every penny you can get your hands on, when you start the game (and so not yet have very expensive items to sell) Creeper is a much better option. Even while playing Tribunal and Bloodmoon I went back to Creeper to sell what I gathered, for the price it was worth!
To buy Tribunal to be able to to sell lots at one trip is no answer on the question: what is the best place to sell.

As well as Mudcrab, if you can find him. He's on a very small island somewhere East of Vivec, but I've only found him once and that was by fluke.guest (for now) wrote:Creeper is a much better option.

Are we talking about the same Creeper here? As I described, Creeper The Barterer is in Caldera, Ghorak Manor. What's this about a mudcrab??winged_twilight wrote:As well as Mudcrab, if you can find him. You are quite right, Creeper is in Ghorak Manor, Caldera.Guest (for now) wrote:Are we talking about the same Creeper here? As I described, Creeper The Barterer is in Caldera, Ghorak Manor. What's this about a mudcrab??
However, Mudcrab also exists and you can barter with him as well, on an island somewhere east of Vivec (just don't ask me for precise directions because I've only found him once).

If you talk to me in AIM i can give precise directions to mud crab, but would rather not post them, as this post would be HUGE.
In order to sell valuable items such as a Deadric Dai-Katana wich is 120k i think. You must know how to sell and buy with out ever closing the deal.
You sell it to him, but before you sell and get your money, you buy back till the amount sold equals the max amount of money said buyer has. Then you resell the things you bought back to him to get the full 120k. This only works with MudCrab or Creeper, because they dont inflate prices, and will buy for the exact value.

To sell things to the Creeper (Or any merchant) that are worth more than the merchant's max money, you must sell a [&@%!] of stuff to them that is really valuable, then buy back your stuff in the same transaction that you sell the really expensive stuff. I think that all of this is handled in the Morrowind pages if IrritAnt had taken any time at all to look around or search.

ahh yes, good old mudcrab. hard to find (I have a mark at him). there are guides online for finding him. the tricky thing is that hes just called Mudcrab, and IS a mudcrab. he holds 10,000 and will buy anything at full cost. you wanna hear the best way to get MAAAD money? we're talking millions. that 17,000 glass longsword just wont matter then! I just throw away most stuff unless I personally can use it anyways.Guest (for now) wrote:Are we talking about the same Creeper here? As I described, Creeper The Barterer is in Caldera, Ghorak Manor. to make the crazy dough, find mudcrab. creeper works too, but mudcrab is faster.
a little funny thing is that you can sell merchants your gold. you dont lose any money cause you sell them $1 for $1. but what happens is that the money you sold them shows up in their inventory.
SO. sell them all the gold they can afford to buy, sleep for 24 hours so their money will be replenished, repeat. spend a good half our or so and you should have worked up to about 1,000,000 or more in mudcrab/creeper's For Sale inventory. now...what happens when you kill a merchant? they drop their inventory! what does mudcrab/creeper drop when you kill them? $1,000,000 of your money that they bought! yay!
just make sure you do this with a really high volume of moneys, or it'll be a waste, cause dead is dead.
