Can I help?

Post by Guest (for now) »

I am an adept player of Morrowind (and Bloodmoon, Tribunal was a bit of a dissapoinment). I started all over again for the 4th time, so I know quite a lot about the ins and outs, and do's and don'ts, and quests en places to be found. For the starters and/or stuckers among us: can I help you solving problems in quests you encounter? Some of the described solutions in the walkthoughs ARE a bit short... :(
Not a bad word about this site though, it really is the absolutely best Morrowind-site on line (if it's on line... :)
Don't hesitate to ask: if I don't know the answer, I'll find it for you. Extra challenges are welcome. As I said: I love the game!

Personality problem

Post by Spenny »

Hi,

Hope you can help. I took a personality potion which raised it from 66 to over 1000 - but when the potion wore off no-one would talk to me - disposition were all 0/100.
Is there anyway to get it back to normal without raising my personality permanantly?

Since you're offering, I've got another problem maybe you can help with :)

I've been trying to enchant an ebony bow with a Fire Damage spell, but I can't get it to work. I've tried setting the enchantment to both Cast When Strikes and Cast When Used with no effect.

I know there are bows that have magical effects regardless of the arrows used in them. Any hints on how to recreate this effect?

I don't have trouble enchanting any other kind of object.

Spenny,

I never encountered this problem, because I never took a 'fortify personality'- potion. When I want to raise my personality temporarely, I take a Telvanny Bug Musk.
Maybe you should buy a 'restore personality'-spell for such cases you describe, if you have the money. In Vivec, Temple, a woman sells it in an early stage of the game (go left when you arrive there by boat, go around the first corner, go upstairs, she is in front of you).

Maybe the problem is that the bow itself never strikes (the arrows do). You should use arrows that are enchanted. The enchantment When Used also makes no enchanted arrows!

Yeah but that's the problem. There are bows that impart a magical effect to the arrows used, regardless of what kind of arrows they are. I want to recreate that. I've tried many permutations to create a bow without any luck.

Sorry, can't help you any further with this. I am not much of a marksman myself, and did not pay much attention on looted bows, enchanted or not; I can't remember I found one either. If I need a bow I use 'bound bow' with nasty enchanted arrows.

Hi, I'm almost done with the main storyline of Morrowind, but when go to be declared narevarine of the Zainab tribe, I can't talk to any of them. They tell me I have slain one of their tribe and must pay with my life. Is there a console command or in-game way to get around this, or is the game now uncompletable?

Well, did you? Do you know when and where? Got a saving? The ones you need are the ahskan and the wise woman. Do they attack you, too? Go to the ashkan first, outrun the attacking people. If he talks to you, you can go on with the quest at least. If so, fight the attacking members of the tribe off, that can't be helped. I do hope you have a saving, though.

No one in the tribe attacks me until I talk to them, then they say, "You have killed a member of my tribe, you must pay with your life" Then It says goodbye, and they attack me. I don't have a save game that goes that far back, it happened quite a while ago. I was thinking there might be a console command that I could raise my reputation with the tribe. I'm going to try using the console to add the ashkan and wise woman into the game again, and hopefully their mood towards me will have changed.

Holy! Did you kill them, too? Fine Nerevarine YOU are... :)
Sorry... bad joke.
Didn't you get a message (pop-up) you did alter the future, or something like it, with the message you should go on from your last saving? I did kill some people accidently who were important in the storyline in the first game I played, and got that message. SO I DID!
I advise you to make a new topic of this; I can't think of another solution than start from an earlier saving. I don't have enough experience in cheating to advise you here; if I make a mistake I BLEED for it...

I'll lend a hand here, I've played more Morrowind than is healthy for anyone.

Which sheogorath quest is this? Percius Mercius?

Re: the bow - just confirming Cast when Strikes will not work. Cast when Used is just like enchanting a ring/amulet etc. Your best bet is just to buy enchanted arrows, there's a couple of enchanters arouns the place who sell them. Enchanting them individually is just ridiculous.

Or use TES construction set, if you're on PC. Making enchanted items in it is quite easy and if you're worried it would be like cheating, just leave enough gold and a grand soulgem on the body of a dying summoned golden saint :)
