DB and Thieves Guild Quests Possible as a non-Thief Type?

Post by CerebralEvolution »

I'd like to get all of the achievements possible on my 360 for Oblivion. But, I'd rather not start another character. Has anyone had a problem doing the DB and Thieves guild quests as a non-thief?

What sort of challenge is there for a character trying to keep his bounty non-existant for these quests? Is it easier just to start a thief character?

You're in the same bind i was in which has a very easy solution though it is considered "cheap" by many including myself even though i did it. My sword and board fighter breezed through the DB quests, sneaking isn't really a big deal for most of them you just need to be cautious. Where my cheap solution comes into play is the thieves guild quests with a 100% Chameleon suit of armour. Just get 5 filled grand soul gems, they can be bought at the mages guild. You need Journeyman level illusion and any chameleon spell. Then enchant 5 pieces of armour with 20% chameleon each. Lets you move almost completely unnoticed and makes the game ridiculously easy. How the hell anyone does the final thieves quest without it is beyond me. Also get the Skeleton key, need to be level 10 and find Nocturnals shrine it makes picking all those locks a breeze.

if all you're interested in is the achievements then why not branch your charcater into 2 sets of saves. one set for your reg good guy, and another set for your evil achievement ones. that's what i did for mine once i completed all the "good guy" stuff. (zero risk of infamy this way)

if you simply wanna start a new character then i suggest creating another profile on your 360 so as not to mix the saves and risk accidentally overwritting one.

Don't know about the final thieves guild quest as I haven't done it yet, but I only have that one and the quest before it to finish them all, playing as primarily a mage type.

Well, I'm a magic-based person, so with my open lock spells, and invisibility the thieves guild was very easy, i dunno about the dark brotherhood as im only a silencer now, but it was pretty hard cause i have low health and people were 3 hitting me.

When I had my mage character go through the dark brotherhood, I really didn't have any major issues. The biggest thing was probably that I had to fight some of the victims I needed to kill because I couldn't get an attack bonus while sneaking when using a destruction spell.
