A Quest Question

Post by Nexxus »

I hope there isn't a limit on the number of questions a noob can ask per week.
After you finish fighting the Knights of the Nine ghosts and you go back upstairs and fight the bad guys up there some person whose name I can't remember comes up to you and thanks you. This was all nice, but he was glowing purple. I did a search and found discussions on several purple gowing NPC but no mention of what may have caused this particular NPC to glow. Anyone know if he was supposed to be purple and if so why?

I think people turn purple when they're hit with an attribute damaging spell. Like "Damage Intelligence 8pts for 30 sec." or something similar. It could be he was still suffering from the effects of the spell.

Oh, and don't worry about asking questions here. The whole purpose of these forums is for people to ask for help from other members.

If it's a ghost, maybe your game misplaced the ghost effect shader, or whatever is used for it.
Because if it's a missing mesh, it would usually become purple.
And I think a damage anything on anything makes a more dark red and green, almost black, color.

Logius, I know I didn't hit him. So it must have been friendly fire from another NPC good guy or one of the baddies.

Kestral, He wasn't a ghost but a very large fleshy NPC.

Thanks for your responses guys. Oh and I realized that I messed up the noob comment. I meant to say ask questions instead of answer them, but you guys are smart and understood that anyway. I can guarantee that I will have a lot more questions very soon.

Are you wearing any items enchanted with Detect Life? Detect Life causes NPCs and creatures to glow purple.

Detect lie, hmmmm not that I'm aware of, a least I know I haven't enchanted anything. I've acquired a few items that I didn't know I had until I did an inventory check, but that was mainly new spells. I will have to take a good look. Thanks.

If Detect Life was the culprit, every nearby NPC would glow, not just the one that approached you.

Only 1 NPC glowed purple or any color.

Gamdolff828, Yes I did realize I could edit it, I guess I wasn't expecting any additional posts. Silly me. I went ahead and chaged it. Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.

if he has a soul trap spell cast on him, he'll have a purple sheen on him, if you have detect life up he'll have a fuzzy pink/purple glow about him when he comes within the spells range.

Can NPCs even use Soul Trap? Because Nexxus is pretty sure he/she didn't hit the approaching person.

I do have detect life but I didn't use it . As a matter of fact I never got involved in the fight. By the time I made my way up from the undercroft the fight was ending. I was just getting to the last evil one when one ofthe NPCs got him. And for the record I'm a she both in the game and in the real world. :D
